History

2020: Microsoft purchased Softomotive

On May 19, 2020 the Microsoft corporation announced Softomotive acquisition. Terms of transaction, including financial, do not reveal.

Softomotive which clients as of May, 2020 are about 9 thousand organizations offers two tools — WinAutomation and ProcessRobot.

Microsoft purchased the developer of the solutions RPA

WinAutomation is intended for automation of the routine, repeating tasks on personal computers with the Windows operating system and also web applications. The application helps to automate simple administrative tasks, since data transmission between systems and finishing difficult business and workflows.

Interacting with any desktop or web applications, WinAutomation it is capable to send e-mails, to work with all types of files and folders, to look for images on the screen, to work with FTP, databases, Microsoft Office applications and many other, it is specified on a developer's site.

In turn, ProcessRobot is the server software intended for process automation on the scale of the organization.

Thanks to Softomotive acquisition the Microsoft corporation will be able to offer users of Windows-PK new opportunities for automation, namely — a possibility of creation of bots which will carry out tasks in the environment of Windows which usually the user carries out manually. The WinAutomation application is already available to all users of Windows to free download.

The organizations, in return, will be able to use ProcessRobot for business process automation.

Microsoft proposes the solution for business process automation on Windows-PK which about 350 thousand clients use. It is called Microsoft Power Automate. The corporation intends to continue its development. WinAutomation and ProcessRobot will join Power Automate and together will create a product family of Microsoft for automation.[1]
