History

2021: Microsoft bought Ally Technologies

On October 7, 2021, Microsoft announced the purchase of Ally Technologies at an undisclosed price. After the acquisition, the startup will become part of the Microsoft Viva project, within the framework of which the eponymous platform for employee collaboration is being developed.

Ally Technologies is developing software to help businesses implement their strategies and achievements and help them achieve their goals. The cloud offering allows different companies to move from traditional, disparate planning and execution to a modern, goal-based and key results-based system that provides strong coherence, flexibility, transparency, and a broad range of employee capabilities.

Microsoft acquired Ally Technologies

Ally Technologies is promoted as an easy way to implement goals and key results as an integral part of a particular user's daily workflow. The platform incorporates best practices with seamless integration with various enterprise systems. The proposed support includes services such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, Asana, Jira, Tableau and many others. The company claims that its comprehensive professional services provide continuous support, special training and coaching to ensure best practices in implementation and successful change management.

Flexibility and remote work have always been important, but equally important is the desire to do meaningful work. The transition to hybrid technologies has complicated the task of ensuring the coherence of all managers, teams and individual employees and their movement in the same rhythm. Ally Technologies helps give everyone in the organization visibility and clarity of the entire workflow, linking day-to-day work with the company's strategic goals, "said Kirk Koeingsbaue, chief operating officer and corporate vice president of Microsoft Experience and Devices.

Ally Technologies will use the new Microsoft Viva module, which will help employees and teams achieve consistency and achieve better business results. In addition, the project from Ally Technologies will be built into the Microsoft Cloud to develop existing integrations in Microsoft Teams, Office, Power BI and a wider set of Microsoft 365 applications and services.

According to Crunchbase, by the time of acquisition, Ally Technologies had raised $73 million in venture capital financing. Investors included Founders' Co-op, Tiger Global, Greenoaks Capital, Vulcan Capital, Madrona Venture and Accel.[1]
