Novosibirsk region is a subject of the Russian Federation. It is part of the Siberian Federal District. The administrative center is the city of Novosibirsk. The territory of the region is 177.8 thousand km ². The population of 2686.9 thousand people. (as of 2012). In accordance with the Law of the Novosibirsk Region dated June 2, 2004 No. 200-OZ "On the Status and Borders of Municipalities of the Novosibirsk Region," within the framework of the municipal structure, 488 municipalities were formed and operate within the boundaries of the administrative-territorial units of the region by January 1, 2021, including: 5 urban districts, 30 municipal districts, 26 urban settlements, 427 rural settlements.

The powers of the Government of the Novosibirsk Region, determined by the Charter of the Novosibirsk Region and the Law of the Novosibirsk Region "On the System of Executive Bodies of State Power of the Novosibirsk Region."

In terms of urbanization, the region ranks 4th in the Siberian Federal District. In terms of the level of development of the information society in the rating of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, formed by the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications, the Novosibirsk region ranks 6th. Novosibirsk region is a region, one of the advantages of which is a high level of diversification of the economy.

2024: Appointment of Deputy Governor Konstantin Khalzov

In September 2024, the Governor of the Novosibirsk Region Andrei Travnikov appointed Konstantin Khalzov as his deputy, who will oversee the activities of this ministry, as well as the Ministry of Labor and Social Development.
