History

2024: X5 Group bought May24

The largest Russian retailer X5 Group announced the acquisition of a 100% stake in MAY24 LLC, which owns the MAY24 digital trading platform. The deal, which became known on October 2, 2024, is aimed at expanding the company's capabilities in the field of digital distribution of consumer goods.

According to the press service of X5 Group, the MAY24 platform unites more than 200 manufacturers and distributors supplying goods in 65 regions of Russia, as well as 36 thousand retail outlets purchasing products for retail. The integration of MAY24 into the X5 structure is designed to increase the availability of small and medium-sized purchases for small and medium-sized businesses, especially for stores operating under the ABOUT franchise.

The functionality of the acquired platform allows customers to place orders from various suppliers, taking into account the availability of goods, interact with them directly, compare offers and manage the assortment. Suppliers have access to order generation algorithms and promotion tools, and distributors can monitor promotions and analyze sales.

Managing Director of OKRO Igor Pletnev stressed that the acquisition of MAY24 is a key stage in creating a modern technological platform for the development of the OKRO franchise. He noted that the ABOUT stores will receive a convenient tool for automating orders, which will allow purchasing both goods from the assortment matrix of Kh5 and goods from external suppliers on one platform and in one mobile application.

After the completion of the transaction, MAY, which previously owned the platform, will act as a strategic partner of X5 Group in the further development of the digital distribution system for goods. X5 management has announced its intention to keep the platform open to all interested distributors and is in talks with a number of companies to join the MAY24.[1]
