TamTam

TamTam is mobile application on message exchange. The service allows to communicate with contacts from the address book of phone and to find friends among millions of users of the Mail.Ru Group projects.

The application is developed based on the OK Messages messenger of social network Odnoklassniki

Using TamTam it is possible to correspond in private messages and in group chats, to share stickers with gif-animation, to send photos, video and audio recordings. The application steadily works at weak Internet connection, it is possible to send messages also to offline mode — in this case messages are sent automatically at connection to the Internet.

The messenger allows to communicate not only with friends, but also with large audience of subscribers — via private and public channels. In channels it is possible to bring together subscribers without restriction on the number of users and to send on them messages. Messages channels will be able both normal users, and brands, media, bloggers and other authors. It is possible to find the necessary channels by the name using the main search line of the messenger.

Start of the web version

TamTam project team announced on October 11, 2017 start of the web version of the messenger available according to the link tamtam.chat. Now all users of TamTam can communicate with the help of the browser on the desktop computer or the notebook.

In the web version of TamTam users can be registered by the phone number, without installing the application on the smartphone and also to communicate in chats, a message and to read channels, to send stickers, photos and videos.

The TamTam messenger had a version for computers

Personal contacts in the web version are synchronized with the application. The user can communicate with all acquaintances from the telephone directory who are registered in TamTam or which have a page on social network Odnoklassniki.

As well as in mobile application of TamTam for iOS and Android, using search in the web version it is possible to find public chats and channels — by the name or words in the description. Besides, on the homepage of the web version it is possible to look at the list of interesting channels: the list is regularly updated.

We aim at that the messenger was convenient to use in any situation. For example, in the country at weak quality of the mobile Internet. Or at work when it is simpler to communicate from the notebook. Therefore we made the web version of TamTam an independent product which is easy for using even without the application: it makes communication in the messenger more available to the most active audience — Vladimir Kochetkov, the head of the TamTam messenger said.

Until the end of 2017 the TamTam command is going to start the desktop application of the messenger.

Start of public and private chats

On August 1 Mail.Ru Group announced start in the TamTam messenger of public chats in which about 20 thousand users of the application can correspond at the same time. The link to a chat can be received in settings: according to it users will be able to look at correspondence or to join it. Public chats can also be found by the name through search in the messenger.

In TamTam public and private chats became available

Using public chats users can discuss news of celebrities or the favorite soccer team, share comments on the latest events, get acquainted and find the general subjects. In TamTam there are already first public chats: a chat of admirers of the singer Polina Gagarina, Federation of figure skating of Russia, a chat for football fans from Sports.ru and a chat with discussion of news of stars of the PeopleTalk edition.

Along with public in TamTam there were private chats which it is possible to enter only according to the direct reference from the administrator or the participant of correspondence. Private chats are not displayed in search of the messenger, only participants can read them. Messages from public and private chats are displayed at their participants in the general list of chats in TamTam. In settings of chats there was also a search in names of participants which will help to find the necessary contacts quickly.

Creators and administrators of chats will be able to change at any time settings and again to make a chat non-public, or to update the link to it. Administrators of chats also received tools for moderating of a discussion: in particular, they will be able to delete messages or to block certain users.

Public and private chats are already available in applications of TamTam to platforms iOS and Android.

TamTam is a messenger for active communication with a large number of people: friends, acquaintances and adherents. Since launch in TamTam thematic channels enjoy popularity: the audience grows in them on average for 30% a month. Public chats are another easy way to find adherents and people with common interests in the application. We go to that the user in TamTam had a maximum of opportunities for communication: here it can find friends, communicate to colleagues or relatives, to read news in the channel and right there to discuss them with other readers in a public chat — Vladimir Kochetkov, the TamTam project manager

Forward translations in the messenger

In June of year in the TamTam messenger there was an opportunity to watch forward translations, without leaving the application. Broadcastings are available both in channels, and in personal correspondences of users.

To show the air in TamTam, it is necessary to insert the link to the stream into the message — when clicking the preview the stream will reveal in the application on the full screen. After the end of the stream and processing video broadcasting remains in correspondence or in the channel.

TamTam started viewing forward translations in the messenger

TamTam is integrated with the strimingovy OK Live application and forward translations in okB further developers are going to add integration with other strimingovy services.

Application launch

On May 25, 2017 Mail.Ru Group started mobile application on TamTam message exchange. The messenger is available to owners of smartphones on Android and iOS around the world. The application is developed based on the OK Messages messenger of social network Odnoklassniki and will replace it in app stores.

The channels in TamTam are started by the famous actors and large communities. Also users can subscribe for an official channel with TamTam news, the channel of community "Is overheard" also thematic channels: about fitness, humour and recipes from community Bon Appetit.
