2019: Support of the RCS standard

On November 15, 2019 it became known that the corporation Google began step-by-step implementation of the standard of message exchange under the name RCS which is designed to replace SMS. Support of RCS is implemented in to the operating system Android at the level of the built-in applications Android Messages. Since November 14, 2019 the technology is available to users of Android in USA free of charge.

Earlier support of RCS was performed at the level of mobile operators, however because of inconsistency of versions of the standard its implementation was performed by extremely low rates.

Features of RCS technology allowed Google to unroll a message exchange system on replacement of the SMS independently, without participation of operators. For this purpose the corporation needed to start own servers for processing of a flow of messages and to provide support of RCS in Mobile OS.

Large producers of smartphones seldom deliver the devices from preset by Android in a "net" type. As a rule, the graphic cover and many standard applications are exposed to processing. For example, Samsung installs on the gadgets the corporate program for text messaging – Samsung Message. Therefore for successful start of service based on RCS Google it was necessary to agree previously with the Korean corporation about ensuring support of this standard[1].
