Apigee was founded in 2004 in San Jose as Sonoa Systems private company. In 2010 it changed the name, and in April, 2015 became the public company, having put on the market actions at the price of $17 apiece. According to the results of the last three quarters 2015-2016 financial years, revenue of the company made $66.9 million that is 34% more than a similar indicator of previous year.

One of clients of firm is the network of drugstores Walgreens, largest in the USA, using the Apigee API platforms for work with applications which allow users to order medicines far off. Clients of Apigee such brands as AT&T are among, Bechtel, Burberry, First Data, Gamesys, Swisscom, Morningstar and Live Nation. The company has representations in India, Australia and the countries of Europe.

Google buys the cloud developer for $625 million.

Google announced in September, 2016 that it is going to purchase Apigee company which develops platforms for control of program interfaces of applications (API) and also releases software for predictive analytics. Transaction amount is estimated at $625 million Google is going to use the Apigee API platforms for expansion in the market of cloud computing[1]

Will pay $17.40 for each stock of Google that is 6.5% more than their cost at the exchange what it was before announcement of plans of the buyer. Soon after receipt of information on the future transaction, shares began to be traded for $17.43, i.e. even above the posted price of purchase.

Application of API platforms of Apigee in Google

The Apigee API platforms help digital services of the different companies to interact with applications of clients and partners when rendering remote services in the Internet. Work of these services is crucial for business transfer "in a cloud", Diane Greene, the head of department of cloud computing in Google considers. Greene, the former CEO of VMware, joined Google in 2015 and now develops the sector of rendering services to corporations.

Google is going to use the Apigee API platforms, for support of the Google App and Google Container systems eventually to facilitate to these services work with exported by API. Besides, the Apigee platform will be integrated with the management tool containers with the open code Kubernetes.
