2020
According to a survey by Naumen, the results of which were published in early April 2020, more than 78% of Russian organizations provided remote access to personnel for a period of home isolation and a month off. However, only 24% of enterprises were ready to transfer the entire staff to the home office.
Among the respondents, 47% replied that for the period of quarantine, employees whose duties cannot be performed remotely remain normally. Most often, representatives of wholesale and retail trade, transport and medical institutions answered this. Organizations that provide vital services to the population transfer accounting, legal and personnel departments to remote work.
The most prepared for remote work turned out to be IT companies - more than 90% of organizations in this area previously practiced working outside the office. The public sector turned out to be less ready for full-fledged work in a remote format - only 16% of respondents answered positively about the introduction of a remote work regime among all employees.
According to a Naumen survey, to organize the full-fledged work of employees in the mode of forced home isolation, only 10% of companies buy additional equipment, including computers for shift employees, for example, contact center operators.
The vast majority of respondents (89%) noted that they were fully provided with the necessary equipment and software for working from home. At the same time, some companies are strengthening technical equipment for telephony and video communication, buying business accounts in Skype, Zoom, and allocating VPN channels for a secure connection.

ICL Services
ICL Services, according to Alexei Gottsdanker, a business architect and member of the project's working group on remote work, did not take the pandemic by surprise. The company quickly took measures to ensure safe work in the office and issued an order to transfer employees to remote work in all teams with a high level of readiness. In the first wave, 30% of the company's employees fell.
We planned to keep this pace in the future transferring 30% of employees every week, but with the introduction of the self-isolation regime we switched to almost complete remote work - almost 90% of employees work from home, "says Alexey Gottsdanker. |
Given the initial readiness, the company took about a week to eliminate some technical issues, revise part of the business processes, change the structure of powers of attorney and help teams completely go remote.
Time will tell how successful our experience is. But we can say that we were able to switch to remote work in an emergency mode, and at the same time none of our customers noticed changes in the quality of services provided, "he said. |
CROC
In CROC"," according to the Valentina Gubareva director of the department of computing systems, the transfer of employees went relatively smoothly, since the company was technically fully ready, and many employees actively worked from home and during business trips. However, in some cases, performance (services and) had to be increased VPN AEROSPACE FORCES. Therefore, the main burden fell on the IT service in terms of transferring employees who previously worked only from the office.
CIO "Krok" Andrei Ivanov adds that 90% of the company's employees were transferred to remote mode in just a couple of days. For productive and convenient work, they were provided with everything they needed: laptops, information security, mobility tools, communications tools, and even were allowed to take office chairs home.
In addition, the company's management is trying to support employees during the pandemic, we often hold joint conf-cols: coffee breaks with top managers, summing up, we discuss in general the situation in the IT market in the new conditions. In general, scientists will still conduct more than one study about the pros and cons of a remote office after a pandemic is called, but now we can say that for many organizations remote work will become a new business model that determines the relationship between an employer employee and a client company, "said Andrei Ivanov. |

BIA Technologies
For BIA Technologies, its own digital maturity is a basic value, says Alexey Tsember, sales director. According to him, being a shoemaker without boots seems unacceptable when you are engaged in high technology. In addition, the company is dispersed and all its processes are configured to work in conditions of territorial distribution. It was not difficult for employees or for service services to quickly switch to remote work, he said.
Within a couple of days, we transferred 93% of employees to home mode. The scale is serious, taking into account the fact that the BIA Technologies team is almost 700 people. Another 7% of colleagues are involved in processes that ensure the continuity of both our business and customer projects. Specialized algorithms have been developed for such employees, all conditions have been created for safe and comfortable work, "says Alexey Tsember. |
After quickly moving to remote mode of their business, resources were released to help customers. First, one customer shared problems, then another. Thus, an independent service "BIA quarantine" was formed. The company calls it an instant product that will not always be in demand. At the same time, the company completed several short, but very time-consuming projects in which it showed customers that it was ready with them "both in the fire, in the water, and in the remote area."
The most interesting thing is that the final efficiency of employees has not decreased. And in some places, it seems to have even grown. But it's too early to talk about this. Project teams continue to lively discuss problems and look for better solutions. It turned out that a lot of questions can be solved without going on a business trip. The absence of movements added to the working time from 2 to 3 hours daily, which employees enthusiastically spend on professional issues, "says a representative of BIA Technologies. |
The company also has no problems in communications with customers. Absolutely all meetings are held using technology services. In remote mode, not only are current affairs and upcoming projects discussed, but also demonstrations are held, problems are fixed, systems are configured and refined.
{{quote | Of course, the energy of live communication has disappeared. Personal contact cannot be completely replaced by any technological means. But another aspect appeared - people became more contact and open. We all share problems easier now. Probably because everyone has very, very similar problems today, "concludes Alexei Tsember.
VMware in Russia and CIS
All VMware employees in Russia and the CIS work remotely during the pandemic period - working tasks, whether they are consulting customers, communicating with partners or marketing, they solve without being present in the office.
As an IT company that develops remote solutions, we never depended on physical location. Each VMware employee can access the required corporate resources from any geographic location - whether they are at home or on a business trip. About 10% of employees of the Russian office periodically go to customer sites, as this is required to support the business-critical tasks of our customers. Sometimes someone goes to the office - for this you need to send an application with an explanation of the reasons and get permission. Hiring and adapting new employees is also remote, "says Andrei Kosenko, senior consultant on VMware's business strategy. |

He also notes that in the past few weeks, the activity of the company's customers to develop SED THESIS has not decreased.
Cloud Computing
Cloud Computing was originally built as a distributed team, says company CEO Maxim Zakharenko. The main motive was to reduce the cost of specialists. To date, only management lives in the Moscow region, and more than 70% of specialists have always worked remotely. The transfer of customers and partners to EDO allowed the company to almost completely abandon paper interaction and the need to be in the office of any of the employees.
In general, we did not go to the remote, we just always worked like that. We renamed the office a couple of years ago and artificially began to gather there in person for planning, just to see each other. Now we will plan remotely again for some time, "said Maxim Zakharenko. |

Relocated employees are provided with remote access to workplaces, corporate mail, necessary IT systems, and audio and video conferencing solutions.
To quickly migrate to a remote location, the company's remote connectivity infrastructure was deployed in advance. VDI is based in Rostelecom data centers and allows you to connect to your workplace remotely at any time and anywhere.
For meetings, the company has its own system for holding audio and video conferences so that colleagues from different cities of Russia can hold online meetings and solve working tasks in teams.
And to quickly inform employees, Rostelecom uses the corporate portal and the RT Life mobile application, where company news is regularly published, and surveys are conducted. The organization added that the remote access solution stack also includes the MyOffice product for some of the employees who are participating in the pilot project for its implementation. Technoserv Cloud: a third of SMB companies in Moscow were not ready for remote work
On November 19, 2020, Technoserv announced the results of its own study, which shows that 32% of medium and small businesses were not ready to support a large-scale and sharp transition to remote work from home, caused by measures to combat COVID-19.
The supplier of Cloud operated cloudy servisovt1 (earlier Technoserv of Cloud) in September-October, 2020 conducted a research with participation more than 100 heads and IT specialists of the companies of a SMB segment in Moscow. It showed that about 51% of IT professionals experienced transition difficulties, and 21% reported that they still faced problems.
Prior to the introduction of quarantine measures to counter the spread of COVID-19, only 14% of companies had more than half of the employees working from home. As of November 2020, more than 64% of companies transferred at least half of their employees to a remote work format.
61% of respondents say that all the IT problems they encountered during the transition have been resolved, almost a quarter (24%) admit that only some of their problems have been fixed, and another 5% note that none of them have been fixed so far.
Potential obstacles to employees' mass transition to remote work include low home Internet bandwidth for employees (49%), increased risks of violation of security policies (46%), negligence of users or improper use of corporate devices (20%), as well as the lack of personnel resources to manage a large number of remote devices (13%).
Despite the difficulties, it is likely that these changes will last in the long run: 83% of respondents admit that their companies will continue to use remote work after the removal of restrictions.
We conducted surveys mainly among the Moscow offices of medium-sized businesses, and the goal was to find out what difficulties the organizations faced in connection with the need to radically rebuild the format of work. The study showed that a significant number of companies took the need to switch to a remote format by surprise. Most organizations were not prepared to support a large-scale model of working at home in such conditions within a tight time frame. As a result, many companies have experienced problems with IT during the transition, and some are still struggling with these problems, "said Mikhail Blinov, head of the cloud provider Technoserv Cloud. |
WeWork: 90% of employees want to work in the office at least once a week
WeWork November 10, 2020 presented a study that showed the impact of work from home on employee collaboration.
According to the study, work from home negatively affected the collaboration, creativity and innovation of some office employees. At the same time, 90% of respondents said they want to work in the office at least once a week. The study was conducted in the form of a survey of office employees in the USA, Canada, Mexico and the UK.
The survey, conducted by WeWork in partnership with brightspot strategy, examined the impact of work from home on employee collaboration. The results showed that people's ability to interact unplanned during remote work decreased by an average of 25%; and among employees who work in a cohesive team, the decline reaches 40%. The vast majority of respondents (90%) want to come to the office at least once a week; 20% are ready to work in the office five days a week.
The study showed that effectively holding meetings and breaking office workers from home became more difficult by an average of 11%, for people whose work depends on cooperation - by 13-15%. The ability to maintain social relations in the team decreased by an average of 17%, for employees who communicate closely with colleagues or who find it difficult to build relationships in the office, this drop is even greater - 20-26%. The results of the survey show that in the long run we will begin to see the negative impact of work from home on innovation, corporate culture and creativity.
The survey identified 10 different employee work styles (or "work styles") and assessed the impact of work from home on each type. The survey revealed three areas of cooperation: the opportunity to meet and break; the ability to maintain social relations; and the ease of unplanned communication. Respondents were asked to rate the ease of different interactions on a scale of 1 to 5 while working in the office and while working from home.
Most difficult during remote work are employees who interact with colleagues (collaboratives) more than 65% of their working time, people who communicate mainly within the team (internals) and those who communicate within the team, but do not try to communicate with colleagues outside it. It is difficult for these groups to maintain relationships, build trust and maintain communication with colleagues during remote work. Depending on the country, the share of these working styles among office workers ranges from 14 to 46%.
Our study shows that remote work has a serious negative impact on spontaneous communication. This communication "over a cup of coffee," the opportunity to discuss ideas with colleagues in an informal setting, most of all contributes to the manifestation of creative ideas and the development of corporate culture. The long-term effects of remote work can not only affect employee productivity, but also the ability of companies to innovate. Office space WeWork designed to promote communication and cooperation, and the pandemic has exacerbated the need for such spaces, as companies try to adapt their jobs to reality, "says Mikhail Konoplev, general director of WeWork in Russia, Central and Eastern Europe. |

According to the first survey, 70% of companies hoped to recover from the crisis. Optimistic forecasts were expressed by enterprises from the field of trade, production, consulting, construction and architecture, repair and household services. At the same time, the IT sector has become an industry that even in a crisis managed to increase the number of customers. 62% of respondents replied that they did not plan to abandon the office and reduce its rental costs, while 16% of respondents considered the possibility of abandoning the office.
Only 34% of companies completely abandoned the office during the period of self-isolation
Only 34% of the business completely abandoned the office during the period of self-isolation. As of the end of July 2020, about 7% of companies continue to work at the remote site. This became known on August 13, 2020 from a study of the features of the office remote operation the Russian and companies during the period of quarantine measures conducted by the media group "."Action-ICEF
Employees of most companies continued to go to work in the office during the period of self-isolation during the coronavirus pandemic - in full or truncated composition.
About 32.5% of respondents did not abandon the office and continued to go to work in full force, and 33% of companies - in truncated. About 34% completely abandoned the office during non-working weeks.
At the same time, about 13% of companies that switched to remote work had to reduce part of the employees. The remaining 87% were able to keep the state.
57.8% of the companies surveyed resumed work in the full office (full-time). About 35% returned part of the employees to their jobs (part-time). And only 6.9% of organizations continue to work remotely from home.
About 37.5% of companies returned to the office during non-working weeks. 28.6% - after the completion of the self-isolation regime at the end of May 2020. 34% - in June and later.
About 66% of the companies surveyed reported that landlords did not change the rental rate during quarantine. Representatives of 20% of the business were able to agree on a small discount - from 10 to 20%. However, about 14% of companies saved significantly during office downtime - they were reduced by 30% and higher.
About 19% of managers noted the unprofessionalism of employees (overdue deadlines, low efficiency, etc.). Discipline suffered from 15% of companies (workers did not get in touch, later appeared on the network, etc.). However, most managers - 66% - did not encounter any problems caused by the transition to remote work.
How did companies build internal communications during the quarantine period? Almost half - 49.5% - of companies used online tools (Zoom, Skype, Telegram, etc.). About 17% continued to meet in person. The remaining companies - about 33.5% - alternated online and offline meetings.
During the period of quarantine and the ensuing crisis, the business felt the burden of the usual costs - including, it became more difficult to pay for the office. A number of difficulties arose: not all landlords reduced rental rates, and some managers noted negative changes in the work of employees. However, in July 2020, the vast majority of employees have already returned to their jobs, and the situation as a whole has become more optimistic, "says Anna Imas, director of the Aktion-360 service. |

On July 3, 2020 the Intersoft Lab company reported about it. More details here.
Russian Research Group: 79% of Muscovites are ready to work at a remote location
On June 18, 2020, RRG announced that it had conducted an online survey of Muscovites, the purpose of which was to identify the attitude of city residents to the format of remote work and their preferences. According to the study, 73% of respondents completely or partially began to work remotely from the beginning of the pandemic, 20% completely or partially worked not in the office and before the epidemic, 84% of respondents believe that the format of remote work is suitable for them. The study involved Muscovites in the age category from 22 to 58 years.
As reported, respondents were asked to answer questions of satisfaction from remote work, organization of the workplace, change of place of stay for the period of self-isolation, etc.
During the study, it turned out that the vast majority of respondents work in only an apartment (72%), 15% alternate between an apartment and a cottage, 13% work exclusively in the country and about 4% of respondents rented a cottage or country house, which is confirmed by the increased demand for renting suburban housing.
Satisfaction directly with the workplace depends on where the person works and how many places he alternates: the "summer residents" (among them the largest share of those working in a separate office) and those who alternate 3 or more places, and the least of all those who do not leave the apartment, especially if the workplace does not change. They work mainly at a table in the kitchen or in the room, a fifth uses a sofa, and there are also those who work directly in the bed. At the same time, 67% would like to work in a separate office in an apartment or house, 24% would prefer coworking in a house or nearby, 15% would prefer a separate office in a residential complex on the other floor.
Respondents consider the main advantage of working at home to be the absence of everything related to moving to work: time costs for the road and fees (87% and 62%, respectively), transportation costs (53%). On the other hand, in the absence of movement to work, the number of movements is significantly reduced, which is most disliked by respondents (54% of respondents). Also, work at home implies less socialization and no change in the situation. Many respondents are distracted by both family members, children, and household chores.
Nevertheless, 79% of respondents are positive about the further combination of the functions of living, working and leisure in one building. Respondents consider the most important infrastructure objects to be the presence of a landscaped courtyard/garden (83%), the presence of guest parking (83), the trend for health beauty and beauty (fitness, beauty salon sports , sections), as well as enterprises public catering and kindergarten/center. Also, respondents noted the importance of fast, Internet food delivery, availability in the LCD (, office machinery and tp), printers scanners coworking or negotiating. For the use of such infrastructure facilities as fitness, swimming pool, negotiation room or cabinet rental for inviting beauty specialists interviewed for June 2020 are ready to pay about 300 per hour. rubles
The closure of stores and service enterprises also affected changes in the structure of family spending. In almost all segments, there is a rather significant increase in the share of online purchases. The most significant decrease in expenses is noted in the following groups of goods: clothing and shoes, electronics and household appliances, home goods and furniture, the smallest - FMCG and children's goods. At the same time, in FMCG, the largest share of respondents noted a significant increase in the share of online purchases - 20%.
The pandemic has made significant changes in people's lives. The remote format of work has completely changed the paradigm of life. For June 2020, a person can work from everywhere and not be attached to visiting the office. It remains to solve the issue of occupancy with infrastructure facilities of residential complexes, and the formation of functional zoning of apartments, creating opportunities for flexible spaces. VolgaBlob: Business is interested in monitoring employee performance at the remote site, but avoids total control
On April 30, 2020, the company VolgaBlob announced that it had conducted a survey on solving problems related to assessing the effectiveness of employees and structural divisions of organizations in a remote working environment.
According to the company, the transition of the business to remote operation mode posed many companies a serious problem associated with the continued monitoring of the performance of employees, structural divisions and enterprises as a whole. It is caused both by technical difficulties associated with the organization of remote work and by mental features - a change in the attitude of many employees to work in a "home office" environment. The extreme conditions in which all enterprises found themselves in April 2020 make specialized solutions especially in demand. They allow you to not only monitor business processes, but also quickly change the criteria for assessing the situation depending on the current situation.
The company's specialists VolgaBlob sought to create an objective picture revealing the current state of affairs with the performance tracking process. The survey shows how transparent the work of employees in respondent companies is, the relevance of business process automation, and what tools are used to monitor and evaluate performance.
The study was conducted in April 2020 through a survey of executives and ITIB managers/subdivisions of 69 companies operating in all main sectors: economies financial sector,, industries fuel power sector, high retail technology, as well as among representatives of state institutions.
Despite the difficulties associated with moving staff to "home offices," respondent companies generally appreciate the degree of transparency of their employees' work remotely.
More than 85% of respondents rated the degree of transparency of remote work of employees as high and medium. Companies with a high transparency rating emphasized that they use a set of formal performance assessment parameters to track. Companies that have assessed the degree of transparency as average prefer to evaluate efficiency on indirect grounds.
Another 9% of companies reported that they were not able to understand the data on which performance was monitored, and only three respondents noted that their companies were not tracking for fear of reducing the motivation of employees to control their work.
The survey showed that most companies use formal procedures developed to assess employee performance.
At the same time, 32% of companies confirmed that in the current conditions they often change business processes and another 26% that they proactively modify them. Conformity assessment systems based on the KPI/SLA calculation are under great pressure: for their correct operation, updated indicators are needed, which are not always possible to adapt quickly.
61% of companies that rate the level of transparency of remote work well and perfectly may have a situation in which they lose confidence in the collected numbers, since these figures will reflect the degree of compliance with outdated KPIs.
In a situation where the speed of a business's response determines its ability to survive in an aggressive crisis environment, the decision to evaluate operational performance is a powerful tool that opens its eyes to the current picture of what is happening.
Most companies want to automate the process of monitoring the performance of their employees.
37% of survey participants noted that it is important for their companies to use automatic controls of employee performance at all levels: for each employee, each division and the enterprise as a whole. Another 20% of companies are developing an evaluation methodology, after which it is planned to begin automating tracking and evaluation, 9% of respondents noted that automation is planned to begin after the completion of the modernization of business processes.
At the same time, 31% of respondent companies replied that they consider the task of automation not relevant either due to an insufficient level of organizational development, or due to a lack of funds for implementing the necessary solutions. At the same time, the survey participants are generally skeptical about the idea of total monitoring of the work of their employees using special decisions.
Only 16% of respondents said that they were ready to conduct such monitoring by all available means. 25% of respondents consider limited monitoring relevant, the results of which will be enough to understand the overall picture of what is happening in the company. About the same number of respondents, 24%, believe that it is important for them to maintain the psychological calm of their employees, which monitoring work can scare. Most of the study participants, 32% of the respondent companies put the result at the forefront, not the process. Such companies use KPI/SLA-based conformity assessment systems.
Our survey confirmed the high demand for technical solutions that allow for an automated assessment of the operational efficiency of the organization in general and individual employees in particular. The transition of the business to a remote location made it difficult to solve this problem, and at the same time increased the priority and urgency of its solution. stressed Alexander Skakunov, CEO VolgaBlob |
SAP Research: Most Anxious Employees at Remote Work - Middle Managers
On April 23, 2020, SAP announced the results of the Remote Work Pulse survey conducted using the SAP Qualtrics cloud solution. The most alarming category was middle managers. 54% of respondents in this position stated a state of uncertainty and a high level of experiences.
According to the company, the study was conducted during the month using an online survey, it was attended by more than 1300 people from, Russia, and Kazakhstan Belarus other countries. Among the industries, the largest groups of respondents were from the retail, IT telecommunications trade restaurant bank , and industry, financial professional services state and institutions. The main goal is to measure the emotional state of employees in remote operation relation to industries, the size of the business, the level of the position held and their functionality.
32% of respondents say they have become more productive when working from home. After the quarantine ends, 53% of respondents want to return to the office, 25% have not yet decided on the answer, and 22% would like to stay at home. This figure is approximately the same for office employees who were transferred to remote work and those who before quarantine could work from home several times a week or constantly. It decreases with an increase in the level of the respondent.
The most exposed to stress - 67% of respondents - feel microbusiness employees and self-employed. Regarding functional responsibilities, employees of sales departments (62%), personnel specialists (50%) and employees from the field of customer service and marketing (47% each) experience uncertainty. The emotional state of workers remotely did not change much depending on the various measures taken by the state: in four weeks, anxiety fell by only 2%, from 47 to 45%. At the same time, over time, respondents began to describe their condition using other words: "panic," which was one of the most frequent in the first week of the survey, almost went out of use in the last days of the study. In early April, when the regime gradually tightened, one of the most common words was "loved ones" and "parents." For April 2020, the "future" and "risk" come to the fore. The word "unknown" appears in the survey throughout the month.
Relatively industries, a high percentage of anxiety is observed in the non-food retail sectors (63%), restaurant and hotel business (57%), the public sector and healthcare (52%), as well as FMCG and pharmaceuticals (50%). The feeling of anxiety is inversely proportional to the size of the business, representatives of international companies and large corporations feel the most calm.
Respondents called the most serious obstacles to performing work at home the equipping of the workplace (25%) and the presence of loved ones in a confined space (17%). At the same time, most of all, employees lack monitors and video communication equipment.
In our opinion, the SAP Qualtrics study will be useful for personnel specialists and managers to understand the psychological climate that has developed in April 2020 in companies and will help support the team during a temporary change in mode of operation. By the second half of April 2020, the percentage of respondents who would like to be informed about the development of the situation with coronavirus infection decreased sharply more often than once a week. Most of all, employees lack data on changing the timing of work, which will be with salary payments and bonuses, as well as tips on how to manage the growing workload when working at home. |
Less than half of companies control the actions of employees on the "remote" using special programs
On April 22, 2020, the SearchInform company reported that according to the study, less than half of the companies that switched to the remote format of work control the actions of employees through specialized programs. At the same time, 15% of respondents use software to evaluate discipline, but not information security. As a result, a third of organizations cannot assess how the number of IB incidents changes due to an emergency transition to remote operation. This is evidenced by the data of an anonymous poll "TechInform."
The vast majority of companies at least partially tested the transition to a remote format in connection with coronavirus quarantine, survey data say. 23% of companies completely switched to home offices, 72% left in offices only those whose work cannot be done remotely. At the same time, respondents represent both industries that have long practiced remote communication (IT, services) and "traditional" markets (industry, banking).
The results of the questionnaire show that companies are hard to transfer business processes to a remote format. 44% of respondents believe that serious efforts are required, a third said that transferring employees to remote control is expensive.
There is more optimism in assessing the convenience of interaction and the speed of adaptation of employees. The fact that the remote is convenient, a third of respondents fully agree, another 52% "rather agree" with this statement. 35% are sure that employees easily adapted to home offices, another 37% rather agree with this.
Most companies did not implement special employee control tools. 33% said they use the so-called "analog" methods, which include calls during working hours, filling out reports, etc. Of the respondents, 15% use remote control programs, but only for discipline assessment.
A third control employee productivity and how they handle corporate information with a dedicated information security software, the DLP system. 23% admitted that they did not control the teams at all at the remote site.
The votes of the respondents were almost equally divided on the question of changing the length of the working day in remote conditions. Half of the companies said that employees work the same or more. A third admitted that the working day of the teams was reduced. Another 20% do not know how the situation has changed.
The results of answers to the question of changing productivity are more expressive. Most (40% of respondents) record a decrease in it. In every tenth company, they were able to increase the indicator, in every fifth - to maintain the same level.
Interviewees differed in safety assessments. Equally (26% each) those who believe that "remote is safe," and those who absolutely disagree with this. They reflect the same contradictory trend and responses to the increase in the number of incidents - internal and external. In every tenth company, growth is recorded, as much as a reduction in the number of incidents. At the same time, a large proportion of those who cannot assess the situation are among those surveyed a third.
"Emergency migration is a potentially negative process for data security and IT infrastructure. Those companies with remote format elements have already been implemented did well, and the question arose only in their scaling. The rest caused difficulties - there were no resources to quickly rebuild. I am glad that the companies were able to cope with the adaptation of the teams. With IB-, personnel and economic security, the situation is much worse - issues have faded into the background. This explains that a large number of companies do not have an understanding of whether there were incidents after the transition to a remote location or not. Some record that the number of violations remained unchanged, because there is nothing to calculate - there are no control mechanisms. So far, security issues for obvious reasons for businesses are of little priority, but the situation will be reflected in the number of real incidents: an increase in the number of insider violations, susceptibility to attacks by social engineers, sec-attacks. Therefore, companies will have to review their business processes in terms of security, " |
The survey was attended by 130 companies of 1-100 people (23%), 100-500 people (25%), 500-3,000 people (34%), more than 3,000 people (18%). The questionnaire aimed to find out how much effort it costs companies to switch to a remote format, how the productivity of teams and the situation with information security have changed. The survey was conducted online among IB specialists and company executives on April 6-10, 2020.
Работа.ру: the share of Russians in the remote area increased almost 5 times
The Работа.ру service conducted a second survey to find out whether the number of Russians working remotely has changed. The study was attended by more than 6,700 service users from all regions of Russia. This became known on April 14, 2020.
One in seven Russians (14%) replied that his employer transferred the entire staff of the company to a remote mode of operation. Another 15% of respondents noted that only some departments and departments were released to their "home office." For 5% of employees, translation continues to be advisory.
Almost a third (31%) of respondents noted that their employer did not let anyone work remotely, and 35% said that their company sent the team on temporary leave or on sick leave.
In March 2020, the Работа.ру service conducted a similar survey. Then only 3% of Russians announced the complete transition of companies to a remote location. Another 7% of respondents then said that only individual departments switched to remote mode.
At the same time, only 18% of respondents answered the question "Do you work remotely?"
{{quote 'author = says Yulia Sanina, Director of Personnel and Organizational Development of the service[1]times|We see that in this situation, Russian employers are increasingly transferring their employees to the remote format of work. But it is more difficult for a number of specialists to do this. These are representatives of professions related to offline retail, transport and transportation, banking workers, as well as those who cannot connect remote access to software and databases for security reasons. As a rule, these are employees of state institutions, specialists in the life support services of the city and security services of both private companies and state structures, }}
Only one in five organizations in Russia can fully work remotely
On April 6, 2020, it became known that NAUMEN interviewed IT specialists from Russian organizations about their readiness to transfer employees to remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic. More than 78% of respondents said that their companies provide remote access to personnel for the period of home isolation and the month off, while the existing information infrastructure is sufficient. However, only 24% of enterprises are ready to transfer the entire staff to the home office.
As reported, among the respondents, 47% replied that for the period of quarantine, employees whose duties cannot be performed remotely remain normally. Most often, representatives of wholesale and retail trade, transport and medical institutions answered this. Organizations that provide vital services to the population in April 2020 transfer accounting, legal and personnel departments to remote work.
Despite the announcement of non-working days in the country until April 30, 2020, many organizations cannot pause their business processes. For example, representatives of the IT industry were in solidarity in their decision to continue to work in full. We must fulfill obligations to customers and partners in terms of fulfillment of contracts, technical support of continuously operating and important systems. So, for example, the NAUMEN platform provides the work of the contact center of the Moscow hotline on coronavirus issues. |
The IT industry was also expected to be the most prepared for remote work - more than 90% of organizations in this area previously practiced working outside the office. In general, 75% of the organizations surveyed gave their employees the opportunity to work remotely.
Due to the conservative approach, the public sector was less ready to organize the full-fledged work of institutions in a remote format - only 16% of respondents answered positively about the introduction of a remote work regime among all employees. At the same time, Russia is significantly behind other countries, despite the technological opportunities to be on an equal footing. In the United States, for example, since 2010, the Telework Enhancement Act program has been officially operating for remote work. It involves 89 federal authorities, up to 50% of whose full-time employees have funds for remote work. According to the results of the program, 2.2 million US civil servants in 2018 worked from home at least three days a month.
In the current situation, the general level of digitalization in the country has become the most visible. Those who were engaged in the digital transformation of business processes, cybersecurity and the adaptation of corporate culture to free graphics have been more secure for a long time and on an ongoing basis. said Igor Kirichenko, CEO of NAUMEN |
It is more difficult to adapt to the conditions of home isolation for organizations with a staff of less than 1 thousand people, the survey results show. Among this category of companies, 20% replied that they could not organize remote work for any of the employees.
Transferring the entire office to remote work without proper preparation inevitably affects the company's work. For many of us, the process of work is built on personal interaction with the team. If the speed of communication and decision-making decreases, the overall efficiency also decreases. Therefore, ready-made technical solutions can be used to help managers: task setting and tracking systems - these are business process management (BPM) solutions, customer relationship management (CRM ), as well as all the tools for ensuring reliability and digital business continuity (ITSM ). At the same time, quarantine itself and the inability to serve customers offline turned out to be another serious challenge for many businesses. said Igor Kirichenko, CEO of NAUMEN |
Online is the only working channel of interaction with the consumer of services. But, for example, online trading in Russia in the Fashion category (clothing, shoes, accessories) two years ago amounted to only 12% of the total market, when in the United States its share is 27%, and in China - 45%. As a result, quarantine has only accelerated the reduction of the backlog in citizens' habits, and for example, the demand for cloud contact center platforms for accepting orders is already growing at a multiple rate. This is the main way to save the revenue of many companies, the expert said.
According to a NAUMEN survey, only 10% of companies buy additional equipment, including computers for shift employees, for example, contact center operators, to organize full-fledged work of employees in the mode of forced home isolation.
