Of course, students will study subjects that traditionally study future civil servants - such as "State and Municipal Administration," "Legal Support of State and Municipal Administration," "Urban Spatial Structure and Smart Planning." But at the same time they will have to study the educational disciplines connecting management with digital - for example, "End-to-end digital technologies in the system of state and municipal administration," "Digital transformation of the economy," "Efficiency of management based on digital data." Opening of the joint laboratory Mephius and the "Open Mobile Platform"

A joint applied laboratory of the MEPHIUS Full-Cycle Microelectronics Design Center and the Open Mobile Platform (OMP) company, which announced this on May 15, 2024, has been opened at the MEPhI National Research Nuclear University.

The main task of the laboratory will be to attract students of MEPhI University to work on the Aurora mobile operating system created by Open Mobile Platform . Students will not only learn to work for Aurora OS, but also create their own IT solutions.

Pavel Eiges, General Director of the Open Mobile Platform, noted that OMP has currently singled out working with students as a separate area of ​ ​ its activities, realizing its importance and priority, and therefore he hopes that this laboratory will be able to use the creative energy of students and that the projects implemented by students will be able to eventually leave the walls of the laboratory and enter the Russian IT market.

The laboratory will be located on the 4th floor of the Scientific Laboratory Building of the University. As of May 2024, it is already equipped with devices preinstalled with Aurora OS.

Teachers of the Institute of Intelligent Cybernetic Systems of NRNU MEPhI will teach students to work with Aurora using educational materials and consultations from OMP.

According to Maria Polyakova, head of the department for the development of the educational environment at Open Mobile Platform, as of May 2024, the company, together with the university, is working on the development of an elective training course "Creating mobile applications," which starts from the academic year 2024/2025.

Receiving 100 million rubles from Rosatom for the development of technological entrepreneurship

Rosatom State Corporation has allocated 100 million rubles for the development of technological entrepreneurship in NRNU MEPhI, funding is being provided under the program "Development of NRNU MEPhI in cooperation with Rosatom State Corporation until 2030." The funds will be invested in startups that have successfully passed the acceleration program. Developments that do not receive the support of the investment committee, but have a market perspective, will additionally fund the university. In addition to financing, Rosatom provides university technology project teams with expertise and support from the State Corporation companies and the opportunity to create joint projects in the future.

In the current accelerator cycle, 60 teams applied for participation, 11 projects were selected for the acceleration program. Of these, four belong to the field of digital and information technologies, information security and artificial intelligence, two to the field of high-tech medicine, one each to machine tools, smart home technologies, robotics, and hydrogen power. Another project involves the use of modern solutions in the field of nuclear technologies to improve the safety and quality of metallurgical products.

All selected teams will have access to an educational program on technological entrepreneurship, which was developed jointly by NRNU MEPhI and Rosatom. Everyone will have a tracker to help work out the product. Each project, after successfully passing the accelerator and protection at the demo day, will be able to count on funding in the amount of up to 5 million rubles at the prototyping stage. The most promising can receive up to 10 million rubles.

Plan for Creating a 3D Metal Printing Lab with 3DLAM

On the basis of the MEPHIUS full-cycle Microelectronics Design Center, a laboratory will be created, the task of which will be the development and development of 3D modeling and SLM printing technologies. The industrial partner of NRNU MEPhI in this project is 3DLAM, a Russian manufacturer of 3D printers for printing with metal using SLM (selective laser melting) technology. Opening a laboratory in the field of GIS technologies

Among the key projects of the IIX division is the development of domestic technologies for creating 3D maps based on WebGL technologies and technologies for processing point clouds, including those obtained using LIDAR technology, in real time. According to Anton Shubin, head of the laboratory, general director of Geograkom, this unit will become a platform for conducting applied research in the field of computational geometry, fast and scalable server and client solutions for visualizing and processing vector maps, plans and 3D models, processing point clouds and extracting information from them, and moving to automated design of linear structures based on optimization methods.

The tasks of processing point clouds are in demand in the design, inventory, examination and diagnostics of the state of buildings and structures. A special place is occupied by the issues of processing large clouds of points describing linear engineering structures - roads and railways, canals and pipelines.

Solving the problems of computer-aided design of linear structures will allow you to move from "drawing" design solutions in CAD and checking their eligibility for compliance with certain criteria, to developing truly effective design solutions with clearly defined optimization criteria and restrictions, including economic ones.

The tasks being solved are very resource-intensive and require up-to-date computer equipment, so the laboratory is equipped with powerful graphics stations with video cards based on recent generations of chipsets.

It is planned to further expand and equip the laboratory.

Interest in laboratory solutions has already been identified by industrial partners from the public and private sector.

The laboratory focuses on the rapid development of the skills of its employees, both in theoretical terms (computational geometry, data structures and algorithms, optimization methods) and in practical terms (JS, React, C++, PostgreSQL) both within the university with the help of leading laboratory employees and at external, recognized training sites.

The relevance of this educational program is due to the fact that as of June 2022, human civilization is experiencing the so-called "second quantum revolution" (the first began at the beginning of the twentieth century with the emergence of quantum physics). In the "second revolution," quantum technologies based on controlling the position of individual quantum particles are beginning to transform more and more areas of science and technology. Graduates of the program will have to work in such areas as quantum sensorics, quantum and post-quantum cryptography, the development of quantum computers. The number of applications of quantum technologies is growing every year.

On June 2022, quantum engineering training at NRNU MEPhI will be held under the bachelor's program, but the LaPlaza Institute is already thinking about creating an appropriate master's program.
