Aurora OS aimed at the consumer market. Versions for cars, TV and other devices are being prepared

At this stage, the "open mobile platform" is reaching the goal of 1 million active users of the Aurora OS, and in order to expand the audience, it plans to create versions of this operating system not only for smartphones and tablets, but also for other any devices. This was announced on October 9 at its conference for customers by representatives of the Open Mobile Platform company, the developer of the Aurora OS.

Pavel Eiges, CEO of Open Mobile Platform, explained that we are talking about versions of the Aurora OS for TVs, cars, routers, desktops, etc. - "we will do all this at Aurora.

The developers of the Aurora OS are aimed at expanding the scope of its application

Roman Alyautdin, Development Director of the Open Mobile Platform OS, announced the Aurora + program on October 9. He stressed that during the development of the Aurora OS, the team has accumulated many technologies that are now of interest not only to manufacturers of smartphones and tablets, but also to other devices.

File:Aquote1.png
Aurora OS is now experiencing a natural expansion of use due to the fact that there are already technologies that are applicable in related industries. Televisions, laptops, game consoles, cars - everywhere we interact with the digital environment, with touchscreens, with operating systems, and Aurora can be used there, "he says.
File:Aquote2.png

The Aurora + program is aimed at expanding the use of Aurora, and in this sense the company goes the same way that Android went, which was also initially available only on smartphones and tablets. The program consists in the fact that the "Open Mobile Platform" makes OS branches and, together with its technological partners, unifies the kernel, graphics components, applications, system services, API - everything that is needed to "sharpen" Aurora and the technologies that already exist, for any niche. And then such an OS branch becomes independent, and it begins its release cycle.

In June 2024, at the SPIEF of AvtoVAZ, NPP Itelma and Rostelecom signed an agreement on the creation of a digital ecosystem based on the Aurora OS for Lada cars. And now, within the framework of the Aurora + program, work is underway for the appearance of an automotive OS, said Roman Alyautdin. AvtoVAZ now produces more than 500 thousand cars a year, he added.

Aurora automotive OS is already in development

One of the partner companies of the Open Mobile Platform, which produces devices based on the Aurora OS, is Fplus. Its commercial director Sergei Trukhan notes that the target for the number of users should not be 1 million, but 10 million users or more. You can come to it only through end users - when they start using the Aurora OS every day at home. This will be an impulse for developers, he believes.

Fplus went retail with the Aurora 4.0 OS version and now wants to increase the number of devices that are sold in retail. On October 9, Sergei Trukhan announced the retail of one of the new Fplus tablets - T800, the "leader's tablet." The price will "pleasantly surprise," he noted, because for the company as an iron producer, working with retail projects is, first of all, an investment story.

File:Aquote1.png
The more people use Aurora every day, the better it will become, "summed up Sergei Trukhan.
File:Aquote2.png

Collectively, 11 devices with the Aurora OS are available on the market as of October, and within six months it is planned to release "at least five more" devices, Pavel Eiges said.

Some Aurora OS devices available as of October

Roman Alyautdin says that one of the vectors of technological development of the Aurora OS is the expansion of the ecosystem: "We want to make Aurora attractive for Android and iOS developers, this is one of our tasks." And the second task here is to make Aurora comfortable for web developers: "There are a lot of them, and it will be great if we can draw this pool of developers onto our platform."

To do this, "Open Mobile Platform," among other things, is invested in cross-platform frameworks - they allow you to have one code base for Android, iOS and Aurora. In particular, the Flutter framework, which has already released several large B2C applications. But the company is not limited to this framework and will invest in others, noted Roman Alyautdin.

Another direction for expanding the ecosystem is support for PWA (Progressive Web Application). It is planned to announce support for PWA in the next major update of the Aurora OS.

The developers approach the desired 1 million users with the 5th version of the Aurora platform. Since the release of the May release of Aurora 5.1, more than 1,000 improvements have been made to the system, Pavel Eiges cited. Half of them were released in release 5.1.1, and half will be presented in release 5.1.3, which is scheduled for November.

The introduction of artificial intelligence

In June 2024, Rostelecom spoke about plans to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into the Aurora mobile operating system. This initiative is aimed at automating management processes, optimizing data processing and improving user experience.

According to representatives of Rostelecom, the introduction AI into the operating system (OS) has become a global trend. For example, in June 2024 Apple , she entered into an agreement with the developer - ChatGPT on the OpenAI integration of AI into her next OS. In, Russia following this example, Aurora plans to automate various processes and improve user interaction with the system.

Rostelecom spoke about plans to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into the Aurora mobile OS

According to Kommersant, specific details of the introduction of AI have not yet been disclosed, and the project itself is at the development stage. The amount of investments and the timing of implementation are also not determined. In 2023, Roskomnadzor estimated the revision of the Aurora OS at 300 billion rubles.

By June 2024, Aurora OS is used on a number of Russian tablets and smartphones, such as Fplus, Byte Erg and Aquarius. These devices are aimed at the public sector and large companies. The integration of AI can become a significant competitive advantage, which is confirmed by the chairman of the board of directors of BASEALT Alexei Smirnov. He believes that Rostelecom can develop AI not only for its system, but also offer it to other players in the market.

Red Soft CEO Maxim Anisimov noted that his company is also considering integrating AI into its developments. Already, they have an "AI-based development portfolio that includes four intelligent assistant systems" that are being implemented with partners.

According to Dmitry Komissarov, the creator of the Strigo Capital Foundation, Rostelecom is unlikely to create its own AI development team for Aurora, as it will take from four to five years and will cost about 3 billion rubles. A more reasonable option would be to buy a finished team with developments or cooperate with large Russian companies such as Yandex or Sber[1]

Aurora OS was chosen for the Russian game console

On April 17, 2024, it became known that the Aurora operating system will be used as a software platform on the Russian game console, which is being developed on behalf of President Vladimir Putin. As of the specified date, several dozen games have been adapted for this OS.

According to the Izvestia newspaper, the project was reported by the Open Mobile Platform company, which is the developer of Aurora. The porting of games to Aurora is mainly carried out by enthusiasts using specialized software written by the authors of the OS. These are mainly old games whose open source code is available on the Internet. However, as noted, such projects "well demonstrate the platform's capabilities in terms of graphics and supported equipment."

Aurora OS developers will use their developments for the Russian game console

File:Aquote1.png
We can add the capabilities that game authors need to the OS. Including on devices such as consoles or consoles, - said Pavel Eiges, General Director of Open Mobile Platform.
File:Aquote2.png

According to him, for the use of "Aurora" in the game segment there are all the necessary tools. This is, in particular, the Aurora SDK development kit, which includes an environment for writing code and debugging, tools for building programs and an OS emulator that allows you to create applications even without the availability of appropriate devices. Moreover, the development environment makes it possible to collect applications for all hardware platforms on which this operating system runs.

Market participants believe that Fplus and GS Group may be engaged in the production of a domestic game console. Vasily Ovchinnikov, head of the video game industry development organization, emphasizes that these enterprises have all the necessary competencies and expertise to create the hardware of gaming gadgets.[2]

On April 8, 2024, the Open Mobile Platform company announced the completion of certification tests of the Aurora mobile operating system and the PathfinderSSL CIPF for compliance with the information security requirements of the FSB of Russia of AK3/KS3 classes.

File:Aquote1.png
The result obtained is very important both for the Open Mobile Platform company and for the industry as a whole, - said Pavel Eiges, CEO of the company - We were able to certify the mobile operating system and CIPF for it at such a high level of information security. This was made possible by a combination of an effective layered security system and the team's high competencies. Aurora OS develops evolutionarily, determining the direction of its development itself: we have gone a long way: from devices for field crawlers to application in the banking sector and bodies of higher state power.
File:Aquote2.png

Obtaining AK3/KS3 security certificates opens the horizon for possible applications of the company's products - Aurora OS and PathfinderSSL. Now, along with the use in federal and regional state authorities, large state corporations and transport, they can be used:

  • to collect biometric personal data: now bank employees can collect and process data using a trusted mobile device on Aurora OS;
  • in the highest bodies of state power;

In
Russia, it is planned to purchase approximately 1.1 million tablets running the domestic Aurora operating system

Initially, it was assumed that up to 67 billion rubles could be allocated to provide state employees with tablets with the Russian operating system until 2030. According to the new plans, the amount of funds allocated under this project is reduced by about 25%. The Ministry of Digital Development explains this by the fact that the action plan of the national project "Data Economics" is formed taking into account the available financing opportunities. At the same time, all priority initiatives necessary for the digital transformation of public administration and key sectors of the economy will be fully implemented.

As of the beginning of 2024, tablets operated by Aurora are produced by Aquarius, Fplus and Byte Erg. The cost of such devices varies from 15 thousand to 80 thousand rubles. The companies "Byte Erg" and "Open Mobile Platform" (OMP) announced the completion of the porting of the corporate version of the Russian mobile operating system "Aurora" to tablets of the MVK-T2101 model. This was announced on December 21, 2023 by the OMP. Read more here.

"Rostelecom" showed a new version of the Aurora OS and announced the creation of the Aurora Foundation for the development of the ecosystem. Photo

On December 8, 2023, Rostelecom at its first Rostelecom Tech Day conference officially presented a new version of the Aurora mobile OS - Aurora 5.0, expected almost all year. It took two years to develop.

Presentation of the Aurora 5.0 OS

One of its main differences from the previous version is a seriously redesigned interface so that the transition from other mobile OS for the user is as painless as possible. In the new interface, for example, the user can launch various applications faster and switch between tasks more easily. They also redesigned all gesture mechanics, making it as simple as possible, and now users are familiar with using the new OS, even if they have never seen devices on Aurora before, the developers say.

The OS interface has been seriously redesigned
Gesture system in the new version of the OS has become easier

According to Pavel Eiges, general director of the developer of the Aurora OS "Open Mobile Platform," the problem of convenient work on the tablet was also solved, since the tablet is a large device with a large screen. For this type of device, the interface was not just stretched, but made another one, which allows you to effectively use the entire surface of the tablet screen for widgets, running applications, etc.

Devices on the new version of the Aurora OS

Also, the developers paid great attention to the design so that the working device on Aurora corresponds as much as possible to the user and his working atmosphere. For this, a large set of audiovisual contexts was developed.

Pavel Eiges noted that Aurora is now not just an OS for mobile devices, but also, for example, an open development toolkit that allows you to quickly transfer projects written in Flutter for other OS to Aurora. The Aurora ecosystem has more than 100 application and service developers, and more than 10 models of domestic devices on this OS are available for order in batches of any size.

"Hundreds of thousands" of devices have already been released on the basis of Aurora and dozens of projects of corporate and state customers have been implemented, says Pavel Eiges. And a month ago, retail sales of devices on Aurora began for ordinary users.

Aurora 5.0 should be available in early 2024. At the same time, the development of Aurora 4 does not stop: at least the entire next year, the developers promise to release updates. And the devices on it will still be available in retail.

In addition to the new version of the OS, on December 8, the creation of the Aurora Foundation, a community for the development of the Aurora ecosystem, was announced. As Leonid Novozhilov, director of digital technology development at Rostelecom, said, among the goals are to ensure interaction and dialogue between OS manufacturers, device vendors and software developers.

Another goal is for the Aurora Foundation to become a point of consolidating the interaction of the developer community and translating its values and requests towards the market, state and regulators. The goals are also to create critical components of Russian mobile services and the development of cross-platform frameworks.

The community structure includes device manufacturers - both those who already collaborate with Aurora OS developers and those who may join in the future. Also includes OS developers. It is now an "Open Mobile Platform," but the Aurora Foundation may later include other mobile national systems. The structure also involves the participation of financial institutions, at the moment there is already cooperation with the NSPK.

A number of leading application developers are already in the Aurora OS ecosystem, and it is planned to expand their number. From the point of view of the application store, RuStore is the main partner in the Aurora Foundation, and Basis is the cloud infrastructure, but the Aurora Foundation also counts on new partners here.

The start of sales of smartphones on the Aurora OS

On October 20, 2023, it became known that sales of mobile devices running the domestic Aurora operating system began in Russia. Smartphones and tablets in the lower price segment will enter the market - up to 20 thousand rubles.

According to the Kommersant newspaper, one of the first gadgets based on Aurora will be offered by the Fplus holding: devices for the consumer segment will be released in November 2023. Such products will be sold, including on the territory of the LPR and DPR. In addition, devices on the Aurora OS developed by Aquarius and Byte Erg will appear in retail: all of them will be presented in the Vsesmart chain of stores (owned by Fplus).

Sales of mobile devices running the domestic Aurora operating system begin

It is noted that everyone will be able to purchase smartphones and tablets based on the domestic mobile OS, but they are focused primarily on customers from the public sector and employees of large companies implementing mobile solutions with Aurora. In the current geopolitical situation, state-owned companies and organizations are implementing projects to transfer their employees to domestic platforms. So, during 2023, Ministry of Digital Development, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Rostec and other ministries and state corporations banned their employees from using Apple devices for work purposes.

File:Aquote1.png
Government agencies and large businesses refuse to use foreign smartphones and tablets, so it is necessary to give them the opportunity to implement import substitution projects, "says Pavel Eiges, general director of the Open Mobile Platform (OMP, is the developer of the Aurora OS).
File:Aquote2.png

It is also noted that in the future the price of gadgets at Aurora may rise. The fact is that OMP reduced the cost of a license for the first batch of devices to 1 thousand rubles, but later it will amount to 4.5 thousand rubles.[4]

STC IT ROSA CEO Oleg Karpitsky is aware of the proposals, but believes that other measures are needed to develop the market.

File:Aquote1.png
The most effective tool for the market will be the development of a mechanism for stimulating application developers for existing domestic mobile OS, he said, adding that Rosa OS will enter the consumer segment in 2024.
File:Aquote2.png

Roskomnadzor told the publication that by mid-August 2023, the department is studying "issues of reducing the dependence of Russian communication networks on foreign mobile platforms," but issues of financing the mobile platform "are not the subject of meetings."[5]

Recommendation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade on the release of smartphones with the Aurora OS

On July 11, 2023, it became known that the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation recommended that domestic manufacturers of mobile devices begin using the Aurora operating system in the consumer segment.

According to the Kommersant newspaper, we are talking about smartphones and tablets. This is stated in the minutes of the meeting of the deputy head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Vasily Shpak with Russian manufacturers of electronics and mobile OS. In the discussion of the issue, in particular, took part "Aquarius," "Byte Erg," "Azimut," Yadro, F + Tech, as well as the developer of the Aurora OS itself - "Open Mobile Platform" (OMP, owned by Rostelecom).

Smartphones with the Russian Aurora OS will appear on the market

The Ministry of Industry and Trade, as noted, intends to prohibit its employees from using tablets from Apple and other foreign manufacturers for working purposes. It is planned that within the framework of the import substitution program, domestic gadgets operating under the control of Aurora will be used.

Rostelecom has proposed to the government a strategy for the development of a national mobile ecosystem, which involves the production and implementation of 70 million devices on the Aurora platform until 2030. It is planned to sell gadgets in the consumer, state and commercial sectors.

However, market participants say that device manufacturers are having difficulty porting Aurora. The implementation of such projects can take up to six months, and with any hardware changes, new firmware is needed, which requires the porting procedure to be carried out again. In addition, a high price may negatively affect sales of smartphones with Aurora. Such devices cost an average of 50-60 thousand rubles, which is much more expensive than Chinese counterparts, while in technical terms Russian gadgets are weaker.[6]

Concerns of Rostelecom about the creation of an OS based on Android due to Google restrictions

Rostelecom fears legal risks associated with the development of a national mobile OS based on the AndroidOpen Source Project (AOSP). This became known on April 3, 2023.

As Rostelecom said, the To the businessman company ordered an opinion from an American law firm on the legal risks of creating Russian Android and applications for it.

The company ordered an opinion from an American law firm on the legal risks of creating Russian Android

The issue of risks was raised at one of the last meetings, which was attended by representatives of Sberbank, Yandex, Rostelecom and Astra Group, said a newspaper interlocutor familiar with the discussion of the national mobile OS project. This was confirmed by a source close to the Ministry of Digital Development. In "Rostelecom" confirmed to the newspaper the existence of risks.

File:Aquote1.png
When downloading the AOSP code, the client signs a license agreement that stipulates legal obligations, including export restrictions on the part of the United States, "explained one of Kommersant's interlocutors.
File:Aquote2.png

According to the newspaper, AOSP is not enough to create a full-fledged OS. Android software development tools are needed, the use of which also requires a license agreement with Google. The license allows you to use the SDK (Software Development Kit - a set of software development tools in one installable package) exclusively for developing applications for Android devices. But the use of the package for developing applications for other platforms, including AOSP, is prohibited.

Anton Imennov, senior partner of the Pen & Paper Bar Association, says that Russian companies could face civil, administrative and criminal cases for violating Google's licensing agreement. In addition, the court may seize copies, records, matrices, films and other materials used and distributed in violation of the law, he added.[7]

Testing of the electronic signature from the Basis CA

"Open Mobile Platform" and TC "Foundation" successfully tested the work of electronic signature on the platform "Aurora." About this CT "Foundation" reported on January 25, 2023.

The development of the domestic operating system is very important in the context of the policy of import substitution and digital sovereignty. The solution of Aurora OS using KEP and certificates of the Zodov CA will allow Russian companies to switch to the use of domestic software without prejudice to business processes.

The Ministry of Digital Development refused to allocate 22 billion rubles for the development of the Aurora OS

On January 13, 2023, it became known about the decision of the Ministry of Digital Development to exclude funds in the amount of 22 billion rubles from its digital transformation program, which was planned to be spent on the development of the Aurora operating system during 2022-2024. In particular, the money should have been used to subsidize the development of applications for the mobile platform and adaptation of devices for it.

The fact that the Ministry of Digital Development considered it inappropriate to allocate 22 billion rubles for the development of Aurora, writes Kommersant with reference to an informed source. The Ministry of Digital Development confirmed to the publication that the approved budget does not provide for the financing of the Aurora OS:

File:Aquote1.png
The project will develop at the expense of the developer, the ministry said.
File:Aquote2.png

Rostelecom (developing the Aurora OS) assured that the project is not frozen, work on it will continue. Whether the level of project costs will remain is not specified. The company also confirmed that Rostelecom is developing the OS at its own expense.

According to Denis Kasimov, general director of Factory5 (developing industrial software), there would be too much 22 billion rubles over two years to adapt software for the Aurora OS. The transfer itself would take longer - at least three to four years, he said.

A newspaper source in the IT market believes that the allocation of funds for adapting applications for the Aurora OS, even exclusively for state needs, is inappropriate, as is Rostelecom's participation in the project to adapt open Android for the new Russian OS. Almost all applications work with Android, why it is impossible to make a more secure Android environment for the public sector - it is not clear, asked the interlocutor of Kommersant[8].

2022

The Ministry of Digital Development supported the Rostelecom project for the development of mobile OS

At the end of December 2022, it became known about the inclusion of the project to create a national mobile ecosystem on the Aurora OS, including the New System-Wide Software (NOPO) in the roadmap until 2030. Rostelecom, the author of this initiative, estimated it at 480 billion rubles.

The fact that the Ministry of Digital Development supported the Rostelecom project for the development of a mobile OS, the department told Kommersant. The ministry noted that the sources of funding will be determined "at the stage of updating the document." A newspaper source familiar with the situation says that the Ministry of Finance generally refused to approve the financing of the project from the budget.

The government included Rostelecom's project to create a national mobile ecosystem on the Aurora OS, which the operator estimated at 480 billion rubles, in the roadmap of the New System-Wide Software

Rostelecom clearly does not want to develop the project at its own expense, and the Ministry of Finance does not consider it possible to provide it with such large budget financing, the source said.

Device manufacturers will also not want to invest in the project, since Aurora is not fully ready for mass use, an interlocutor Kommersant in a large manufacturer said. electronic engineers The OS requires improvement in terms of performance, ease of porting to devices, and the ability to work on Russian hardware, he said.

In terms of the implementation of the NOPO roadmap, the Ministry of Digital Development welcomes the option of financing projects through soft loans or through investments by developers or customers, and not through grants, says Nikolai Komlev, executive director of the Association of Computer and Information Technology Enterprises. He believes that Rostelecom will eventually develop Aurora at its own expense.

File:Aquote1.png
Probably, in 2023, the government will invest primarily in such priority areas as information security, IT services for the population. Financing of roadmaps projects will rather be carried out through the developers' own investments and guaranteed demand, and not through direct government funding, Komlev added.[9]

Russian industrial enterprises will have to transfer their control systems to the Aurora OS

At the end of November 2022, it became known that Russian industrial enterprises would have to transfer their control systems to the Aurora OS. This task is included in the New System-Wide Software Roadmap.

As Vedomosti writes with reference to Ilya Massukha, director of the Center for Competencies in Import Substitution in the Field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), by the end of November 2022, two road maps are being developed - New Industrial Software and New System-Wide Software. They will be a continuation of the government's initiative to create industrial competence centers and development competence centers.

Aurora 4.0 with 300 improvements

The Open Mobile Platform company presented a large update to the Aurora mobile platform on November 30, 2021. The Aurora OS release with the 4.0 index included about 300 improvements, of which more than 40 are large.

The changes are based on the experience of implementing the largest corporate mobility projects successfully carried out in 2021. As a result, the improvements affected all components of Aurora's mobile infrastructure: security tools, user interface, embedded applications, device fleet administration tools, and application development tools.

Particular attention was paid to security issues when developing the updated Aurora 4.0 OS. Layered protection to counter various types of attacks includes a mechanism for isolating application data from each other, providing granular access to the resources of a mobile device (microphone, camera, network, geolocation tools, etc.), and monitoring the integrity of the software environment is now carried out not only when loading the OS, but also dynamically, during operation. All installed files and packages are signed with the keys of the developer and the operating organization. A trusted certificate store has been added.

Now absolutely all user data is encrypted, which, among other things, allows you to maintain data privacy in case of loss or theft of the phone. A multi-user mode of operation on one device has been implemented - in addition to an administrator account, you can create up to 6 user accounts with your own settings for the working environment. This makes it possible to work in a shift scenario on one device.

The new system font is better read on screens of mobile devices of different sizes. It was developed by one of the leading Russian design studios and is free from potential licensing risks. A large number of styles give application developers the freedom to implement the functionality they need.

The modified unified design code of system and external application icons ensures uniformity of user experience. Additional interface elements have appeared, such as buttons with icons and tabs, which gives more opportunities to software developers for Aurora OS.

"Atmosphere" has been significantly updated - a means of personalizing the interface. Now the choice of atmosphere affects all interface elements, for example, by choosing a "autumn" atmosphere, the entire interface will acquire scarlet shades. With this tool, you can label Aurora as easily as possible in corporate colors: it is enough to develop a corporate atmosphere and apply it through the Aurora Center management platform.

Notifications are dramatically redesigned. Now this is not just a text displayed in the top curtain, but a full-fledged tool for responding to events and messages from applications that can contain text, icons, and quick response buttons - answering a letter, for example. In the updated notification interface, you can selectively control their display, "swipe" single or group messages with gestures.

Numerous user comments were taken into account in this version of the keyboard: there was a button stroke, the ability to adjust the position of the keyboard on the screen, the method of changing the input language was changed, predictive input, autocorrection of words and automatic replenishment of the dictionary appeared. The updated keyboard facilitates interaction with the system, simplifies communication in instant messengers and web applications.

Much improved work Internetbrowser-. The built-in browser uses the Gecko 60 web engine to render pages, so that pages are displayed better, modern standards for creating and displaying web content, including WebGL, are better supported, and the WebRTC implementation made it possible to conduct videoconferences directly in. browser In addition, WebView support has appeared, which allows developers to embed a web content inside a native application. For secure work state with information resources, the browser has acquired support for the GOST TLS protocol.

A set of built-in applications has been updated, among which improvements in the Mail, Calendar and Files applications, as well as Documents deserve a separate mention, which, thanks to the use of LibreOffice 7, display documents of popular office formats of any complexity faster and better.

Aurora Center, a mobile device management platform with Aurora 4.0 OS, has been updated to version 3.0. Now, from a single console, enterprise mobility administrators can manage devices on both Aurora and Android. Important changes for administrators of a large fleet of devices include quick activation tools for a specific project at the first start of the device.

The enterprise and certified versions of Aurora are now fully unified from the developer's point of view - they have a single SDK, identical supported security features. Now applications are easily transferred between versions. In this version, the system for signing packages and their validation during installation has become more transparent and convenient - now only one developer certificate is required, and the OS has learned to independently determine the certificate in the application and add it to the list of allowed ones. These changes greatly simplify the creation and maintenance of software for the Aurora mobile platform.

Aurora 4.0 provides developers with many additional programming interfaces: WebView API for creating applications that display web content; Updated APIs for developing antivirus and VPN solutions provide greater security for the use of appropriate tools; the redesigned NFC stack supports new technology standards. A significantly redesigned cryptographic subsystem offers an API that unifies both the interaction of crypto providers with the OS and the mechanisms for calling these crypto providers by third-party applications.
