Emergence in Netapp channel

In October, 2017 it became known of fast emergence of the software of Veeam Software company in channel of the American producer of storage systems NetApp. It is not the first case of similar cooperation of the Russian company with large IT vendors.

Under the terms of the new agreement, at the beginning of 2018 NetApp will include a packet of Veeam Availability Suite in the price list and will sell it through the partners, the vice president for global business and corporate development of Veeam Carey Stanton told the CRN edition.

There was a function called by Direct NFS, allowing to make the backup copy of VM under NFS v3 protocols and new NFS 4.1 (support appeared in vSphere 6.0), without using a host server for copying of data.

The special client of NFS (it appeared in the 8th version) at inclusion of Direct NFS gets access to files of virtual machines on volumes for which it is possible to do backup and replication without participation of VMware of ESXi that increases the speed of transactions.

Support of disk arrays of Netapp is improved. In version 9 support of backup from SnapMirror and SnapVault storages was added to integration with NetApp. Now creation of hardware pictures (taking into account a status of applications) with the minimum impact on virtual environment, replication of recovery points on the reserve disk array of Netapp using the technician of SnapMirror or SnapVault, and from there - a backup of virtual machines is available.

At the same time process of backup does not select performance at the main DWH as input-output operations are conducted in reserve storage.

For support of hardware pictures of storages from Veeam the Sandbox On-Demand function appeared, it provides creation of virtual laboratory, starting virtual machines directly from snapshots of volumes of level of storages. This laboratory can be used as for verification of backup copies on recovery - at once we start VM and we look whether everything in it works, after that we switch off laboratory, leaving backup copies invariable), and for fast cloning of sets of services (created several VM then created the snapshot and started machines from it).

Veeam Cloud Connect is available from Azure

On October 30, 2014 the Veeam Software company announced availability in Azure Marketplace of the product Veeam Cloud Connect.

The solution Veeam Cloud Connect received the certificate of Microsoft Azure Certified for Virtual Machines and it is submitted as the ready, previously configured product which will help service providers to unroll repositories in a cloud (cloud repositories) and to offer opportunities Veeam and "cloud" services to customers.

Availability and licensing

The solution Veeam Cloud Connect will be presented within uniform release with Veeam Availability Suite v8 and Veeam Backup & Replication v8 in the fourth quarter 2014. The Veeam Cloud Connect components allowing users of Veeam to be connected to the remote data warehouse are included in all editions of the products Veeam Availability Suite v8 and Veeam Backup & Replication v8 and will be available to customers of Veeam without the mezzanine board.

Suppliers of cloud services Veeam (Veeam Cloud Providers − VCP) can use the standard license Veeam Cloud Connect (on condition of the Veeam Cloud Connect installation from Azure Marketplace).

Resellers and service providers have an opportunity to pay only those computing and the Azure disk resources consumed by the customers of Veeam using "cloud" for data storage.
