IT products and online services for remote work

The article aggregates information about products and services for remote work.

The most popular products and services for remote work

In the spring of 2020, TAdviser interviewed domestic IT companies from different fields of activity and found out which products and services became the most popular during the period of self-isolation.

The CROC company notes the demand for communication tools - VKS and instant messengers. At the same time, the company's experts recommend that their employees and customers prefer secure platforms, for example, Microsoft Teams and Cisco Jabber.

In addition to video conferencing, the demand for virtual workplaces and information security services has grown. Solutions for leasing infrastructure capacities from the cloud are in demand, the demand for robotization of business processes (RPA and BPM) and a remote electronic document management system has increased.

Over the past month, CROC has received requests for digital technologies for remote work as much as we usually receive in half a year. In particular, the demand for: information security (VPN networks, WAF, PAM and EMM systems) has increased, creating virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), implementing robotization and automation of business processes (RPA and BPM), remote electronic document management systems, cloud services (IaaS, PaaS), providing communications to employees (VKS from the cloud) and consulting to assess the company's readiness for "remote," - said Igor Bonev, Business Development Director of the Information Technology Department of the CROC IT company.

According to Valentin Gubarev, Director of the Computer Systems Department of CROC, the company has more than twenty different solutions for remote work in its portfolio. They can cover all needs regardless of the size or market specifics of the customer.

For convenience, these services are grouped by tasks and time for installation - from 1 day to several weeks. There are universal services - virtual desktops, information security solutions, video conferencing from the cloud. And there are also specific, but no less productive. For example, remote Stroycontrol or call center from the cloud. We also understand how important it is now to see a detailed picture of the activities of remote employees, provide them with timely technical support and, of course, prevent leaks of confidential information - for these purposes, there are separate solutions in the portfolio, he explains.

The company "Jet Infosystems" notes an increase in the number of requests for the creation of virtual workplaces. Compared to the same period in 2019, this figure has grown 15 times. Some of them have already moved to real contracts. In total, the company's specialists transferred more than 40 thousand employees of various organizations to VDI technologies.

According to Dmitry Galkin, head of VDI at Jet Infosystems, classic VDI is the most advanced solution for remote work. The companies that have already implemented it at home have now evaluated the correctly chosen IT strategy in a new way, almost painlessly and as soon as possible transferring employees to a remote location.

At the same time, he notes that the basic scenario is the use of remote access via VPN. When properly built, it reliably protects against external threats, such as unauthorized access to the corporate network.

It is worth fearing internal threats: employees have full access to the corporate network from any device, and they can save data on their personal laptop and freely dispose of them. We need a solution that expands the perimeter of the company to the workplaces of users, wherever they are. At a minimum, you need a "splash" of user sessions to their stationary corporate PCs. At the same time, users have their usual working environment remotely and it is possible to limit the type of information transmitted between the user device and the corporate PC to policies. The method is not devoid of disadvantages, but much better than "just a VPN," says Dmitry Galkin.

Senior Consultant on Business Strategy VMware Andrey Kosenko notes that stable and comfortable remote work depends not only on the solutions of the End-User Computing segment, although it is in this segment that the company records a twofold increase in demand compared to 2019.

Remote work is also a huge burden on the network infrastructure and unstable Internet connection - one source, as a rule, is used by several family members at the same time. In this regard, we see an increase in requests for SD-WAN deployments by Velocloud - it provides intelligent balancing of user traffic over communication channels, reducing the number of channel failures and improving the quality of conferencing and file transfer. In addition, there has been an increase in demand for subscription and cloud infrastructure models (IaaS is infrastructure-as-a-service and DaaS is desktop-as-a-service), says Kosenko.

Maxim Zakharenko, General Director of Cloud Computing, among the most popular solutions for remote work lists cloud 1C, terminal desktops and communications services. In addition, various network and security services are in demand: VPN, publications, firewall, SecaaS.

In Cloud4Y, the remote access service is provided as a constructor. There is a basic product, a remote connection to the terminal server, which is already sufficient for remote work.

Separately, you can organize a secure connection to corporate networks (VPN), connect additional licenses (for example, Microsoft products or antivirus protection), staff activity monitoring service, file and document collaboration solution, cloud IP-PBX, video conferencing service and other solutions. Remote VDI desktops with GPUs are available for working with graphics, adds Artem Goncharenko, commercial director of Cloud4Y.

Sales Director of Mango Telecom Alexander Shikinov notes that in addition to the virtual PBX Mango Office, a SIP trunk is in demand among large customers, which adds "cloud" capabilities to traditional office PBXs, opening, among other things, the functions of connecting to them via the Internet, from home. And, of course, Mango Talker is an application with which it actually becomes possible to call and receive calls from work numbers on your mobile phone or on your computer, chat with colleagues, participate in video meetings, and so on.

According to Vladimir Burgov, Commercial Director of CommuniGate Systems Russia, the current situation very quickly showed that only the reproduction of the usual interaction formats will allow transferring enterprises to a remote format of work quickly and without loss of efficiency.

A kind of "Gentleman's Set" here is email, instant messengers, telephony, corporate content management and video conferencing. To quickly deploy all types of communication services, guarantee security, and not require personnel to switch to new unfamiliar systems is an absolutely achievable task in the case of accessing the CommuniGate Pro unified communications platform, he said.

Alexey Tsember, Sales Director of BIA Technologies, believes that in the best situation there was a business that initially built a geographically distributed model, succumbed to fresh trends in the organization of the presence of employees and flexible office spaces, developed this direction.

In this case, there is a painless scaling of tools and services for integrated communications from a group of employees previously involved in remote interaction to the entire company. If necessary, key employees are identified, whose presence in the office is required on an ongoing basis, the rest switch to remote mode. All business processes have already been adapted to this. This, of course, is cheaper and faster than urgently launching the processes of selection, procurement, implementation and fine-tuning, training users, and ensuring the operability of services.

At the same time, companies that had not previously applied such decisions, notes Alexey Tsember, found themselves in a difficult situation. They are trying to find alternative ways for themselves in the form of various services and products that are on the market. Fortunately, the range of proposals is quite wide and the issue as a whole is being resolved. However, here information security issues come to the fore.

For many companies, it is critical to protect internal communications and information used by employees from unauthorized access. People communicate using relatively unsafe means of communication, gain access to corporate networks from home computers, the security of which is often in question, but there is nowhere to go, because work cannot be stopped. Here you have to look for a balance between necessary and sufficient, - says an expert at BIA Technologies.

According to him, the issues of using private and public clouds in joint work are relevant. Setting up a virtual enterprise environment is of great importance. Here we are talking not only about security issues, it is important to maintain efficiency with a reduced volume of personal communications.

There is also a surge in interest in BPM products among BIA Technologies customers. So, for example, in any organization that transforms under the realities of the quarantine regime, business processes collapse by 60%. As a result, managers do not have a complete picture of what is happening, the processes slow down and the quality of the final result quickly falls. If the organization has implemented a BPM system for managing business processes and their flexible reconfiguration, it is immediately three steps ahead of competitors.

Paper document management issues, in his opinion, also came to the fore when switching to remote mode. Organizations that have provided themselves with digital EDMS and know how to properly organize paperless legally significant electronic document management already two steps ahead, of course, if partners and counterparties are also ready or promptly implement systems of this class.

Another step ahead of the company's competitors, who were able to quickly optimize the work of their contact center. For some, the load has decreased, for others it has increased. Again, digital tools will help to rebuild the work quickly, while maintaining a high quality of service. We feel a serious increase in demand for a product to optimize the operator's workplace, adds Alexey Tsember.

Haulmont spoke about the most popular features and functions of the EDTEZIS Document and Task Management System. In particular, among users of this system, document and task management is in demand, and many also use the system to organize meetings, which are now held online in conference services. According to Ilya Zaychikov, Product owner of the EDMS THESIS, it was very important for many to assure the document in the electronic document management system with a qualified electronic signature and send it to the counterparty through the system for exchanging legally significant documents Diadoc directly from the EDMS. The mobile application EDMS THESIS is also in demand, which allows you to work with documents, tasks and attachments from a smartphone or tablet.

Our solutions also help customers who have switched to remote work to manage unique business processes, including those that go beyond electronic document management in its pure form, "added Ilya Zaychikov.

Global market

2024: Global Remote Office Management Software Market Size Reached $8.46 Billion for the Year

At the end of 2024, expenditures on the global remote office management software market amounted to $8.46 billion. Geographically, North America leads the way, and one of the industry's main drivers is the rapid adoption of cloud technology. This is stated in a study by Business Research Insights, the results of which TAdviser got acquainted with in mid-July 2025.

The pandemic has had a positive impact on the industry. COVID-19 Due to strict quarantine restrictions and a self-isolation regime, companies around the world began to massively transfer their employees to remote work. Educational institutions switched to. distance learning Moreover, according to the results of polls, approximately 65% of respondents expressed a desire to perform their work tasks remotely even after the pandemic bans were lifted. In such a situation, the demand ON for remote office management continues to increase steadily.

The industry is expanded by moving enterprise services and applications to the cloud. In the context of the macroeconomic situation, organizations are striving to increase labor efficiency and productivity. Migrating workloads to cloud platforms provides flexibility, scalability, and the ability for geographically distributed teams to collaborate. In addition, companies do not need to invest in the purchase of high-performance and expensive equipment for deploying local IT infrastructure. Thanks to the development of high-speed Internet access and the increasing use of mobile devices, it becomes possible to work from anywhere where there is a network connection.
