2014: The uniform Google For Work and Education program is started

On December 4, 2014 Google announced significant changes in work with the partners distributing software and Apps for Work services. The new scheme is designed to stimulate sales of the corporate software in the big companies where now products of Microsoft dominate.[1]

Since January 1, 2015 instead of seven former affiliate programs of Google Apps for Work differing in geography of distribution and products one will be used — Google For Work and Education. Thus, Google is going to simplify and improve partnership with resellers, system integrators and developers.

Google announced the new affiliate program

Google For Work and Education will cover the Google Workspace cloud applicaions (before G Suite) for work with the text, spreadsheets and the presentations, the Chrome browser, the Android operating system, cloud solutions of IaaS and PaaS, search engine and corporate technologies of a Google service Maps.

At the program three sections, each of which is intended for satisfaction of specific needs of clients. The section of sales (Sales Track) is intended for the distributors and resellers who are not maintaining long customer relations to which sell business software of Google.

The service section (Services Track) will be suitable for the cloud companies and system integrators which do long-term business with clients. Within this section the full range of services is provided: sales, consulting, training, implementation and ensuring technical support of products.

The third section — technology (Technology Track) — is focused on software makers and the equipment which will be able to expand considerably possibilities of Google For Work and Education by means of the technologies and knowledge. Each partner of Google will be able to use more than one section.

The new affiliate program means two types of commission assignments — "standard" and "prime minister". The last will be applied to the most effective partners who proved the high professionalism in attraction and deduction of corporate clients. For these resellers payment of 30% of sales of business applications and Google services is provided. "Standard" level assumes the 20 percent commission which before start of Google For Work and Education was uniform for all partners.

The using Apps for Work of the company pay annually for $50 counting on one user. Thus, "premier" partners of Google will receive $15 from each client, and "standard" — for $10.

As of the end of 2014 the partner network of Google contains about 10 thousand companies working in 100 countries of the world. For comparison, over 400 thousand resellers, consultants, system integrators and other partners helping corporation to extend and service software cooperate with Microsoft. Users of corporate solutions of Google are such large companies as PricewaterhouseCoopers, Sprint and CDW.

2015: Google is going to take away 80% of business from Microsoft Office

At the beginning of February, 2015 the Google company announced ambitious plans to occupy the most part of the market of the corporate software for work with documents.

In an interview to the Business Insider edition Amit Singh, the head of division of Google for Work (supervises promotion of cloud business applications of the company) said that Google expects to entice to itself 80% of users of a packet of Microsoft Office among the large organizations and corporations.[2]

"Now we are ready to them. I think that for the last 12 months we not bad proved to be, and the market showed the readiness to implement Google Apps in the big companies. Time to extend came" — Singh noted.

According to him, the corporate business software of Google placed in a cloud has 85-90% of functions which allocate Office, and in certain cases it is ahead of the competitor from Microsoft. Superiority of a product of Google first of all concerns work with documents in real time, the representative of corporation explained.

According to data of Softwatch analytical company, most of users of a Google service of Docs do not create new documents or tables, and are engaged in insignificant editing or reading the existing files.

"If this is true, then in that case why to everyone to have Excel or a similar product? In the company a great number of people work, but it is optional to buy to everyone the license for Excel or Office. Less than 10% of users fall to the share of creators of content" — Singh told.

He also assured that the remained 10-15% of opportunities which are not in Apps for Work in comparison with Microsoft Office are necessary only to advanced users working in Excel. The last differs in the high processing speed of Big Data and accomplishment of a financial analysis, but this functionality is required no more than to every tenth employee of the company, Amit Singh told.
