2020: Creation of mining factory in Siberia
On November 5, 2020 the aluminum producer and the electric power En+ Group announced creation of joint venture with the operator of the center of colocation mining cryptocurrencies BitRiver. Partners agreed about development of projects in the field of production of cryptocurrencies using renewable energy.
At the first stage En + Group and BitRiver will start in Bratsk of the Irkutsk region the 10 MW mining center with a possibility of increase up to 40 MW in the future. Within this En project + Group will provide electrical supplies to the platform, and BitRiver will be engaged in its operational management.
The platform consists of mobile platforms for mining (specially converted sea containers comparable to the full-fledged mining centers). Within the first project phase 14 platforms are started, each of which contains 400 miners of new generation S19 Pro (110 Th). En + finances 80% of project cost, BitRiver – 20% and is responsible for construction, management and sales.
Our core business – consolidation of electricity generation and aluminum that allows to give the electric power directly on the plants but not to sell it via the power supply network to consumers. Data centers, especially for mining farms, even more attractive method of transformation of electricity into a product — the chief financial officer of company En + Mikhail Hardikov noted. |
According to him, the company decided to be engaged in cryptocurrency mining after several experiments in this area. En + wants to receive more miners as clients and suggests to place their farms in close proximity to power plants of the company.
It is noted that approach of En + on development of this segment is based on three components:
- providing platforms with the brought power from 10-30 MW to 100-120 MW;
- promotion of the program of the system operator for demand management of the electric power among clients of group;
- co-investment in projects of DPC, both traditional, and mining.[1]
