The IBM company buys manufacturing company of the software for risk analysis of Algorithmics for $387 million cash. Motive of the transaction - improvement of functionality of own developments of the company - financial services.

IBM stated that the transaction, as expected, will be closed until the end of October and will expand possibilities of products of a business intelligence, helping clients with financial risk management.

Consulting services and the software for risk analysis of Algorithmics company are demanded in banking, investment, insurance business, help with risks assessment in decision making process at the enterprises, consider requirements of the regulatory base.

On Wednesday IBM also announced purchase of the British company i2 operating in the sector of analytics of security of the software, having explained the acquisition reason with need to help the clients with problem solving, the processed and saved data concerning avalanche growth. Transaction amount is not disclosed.

Within five years of IBM made 25 acquisitions, having spent more than $14 billion on M&A. Many of the assets purchased by it anyway were connected with analytics: thus the company aims to give the answer to exponential growing volumes of unstructured data from such sources as social networks, biometric data and others.

After completion of the transaction about 900 employees of Algorithmics will join group of software development of IBM company.

At the end of 2010 Algorithmics generated income in the amount of $163.7 million. It is a part of Fitch Group which main part belongs to the French Fimalac, the holding company with office in Paris.

Let's remind that only during 2010-2011 IBM purchased 17 companies, and among them: National Interest Security Company, Initiate Systems, Intelliden Inc., Cast Iron Systems, Sterling Commerce, Coremetrics, BigFix Inc., Storwize, Datacap, Unica Corporation, OpenPages, Netezza, BLADE Network Technologies, PSS Systems, Clarity Systems, TRIRIGA Inc, i2.

Among the mentioned acquisitions there are consulting firms, software makers of application integration (including business programs and cloud interaction), automation of network interaction and management of networks, web analysts, security and automation of an IT environment, a compression of data, software of planning and marketing, risk management and decision making, storage systems of information and data warehouses, managements of finance, the real estate and the business analysis.
