Biography
Philip Gens - the son of the founder of the Lanit group George Gens - was born on July 7, 1979 in Moscow.
Since childhood, he came to work with his father at Lanit.
Once the programmer Petya went to show Philip our EU huge computers, - recalled Georgy Gens. - Everything flashes, spins and so on. And so, Philip, pressing the button, asks Petit: " Is this what "? Petya did not have time to answer. Philip knocked out the entire system. They restored it for 5 days. It turned out that he pressed the fire button. Philip is not to blame, of course. It was not worth bringing the child to where there is a beautiful red button. It was necessary to warn in advance. After this story, I could not speak for a long time , not that I swear |
Until the age of 15 he studied at the French special school No. 1265.
Philip's father George Gens recalled the choice of an educational institution for his son[1]:
I did not consider the pros and cons of studying here or there. I have not analyzed for two years where to send a child to study, as they are now doing. So, the school closest to the house came in. Nearby were mathematics, French, English and sports schools. First I went to a sports school, judging that the language will be learned like that , and sports are good. The director asked me about my son: " Is he mentally retarded?" And then I immediately changed my mind about giving the child there. We don't need to go to a mathematical school , "I decided," I myself will teach, he has abilities. The neighboring English school was wildly thieves, the French school remained - intelligent, good school |
1994: Start of training in Britain
At the age of 15, Philip was sent to Britain.
He was not the easiest teenager, and since he himself wanted to go to England, we gladly sent him there, - recalled George Gens |
In 2000, Philip received a 1st grade diploma from the University of Birmingham Faculty of Law.
On the one hand, with English education, I now absolutely don't care where to live and work. I live in Russia and love Russia, while English is my second native language, which has given many connections around the world. On the other hand, if I stayed in Russia, I took more from my father, who, of course, is much better than a professor at the university, - Philip Gens told[2] in 2016[2] |
2000: Start at Lanita as sales manager
Returning from England, Gens Jr. went to work at Lanit as a sales manager in the Internet department.
I wasn't doing harm, but I wasn't doing much good. On the one hand, I am small and not very experienced. On the other hand, my surname Gens: I am associated with my father, and everyone believes that since my father cannot be mistaken, I cannot. And I naturally did a lot of the wrong things then, "Philip recalled. - In this mode, he worked for six months and realized that it was stupid. Firstly, the Internet as such was just beginning in Russia. Secondly, it made sense to see what else is in the world, gain experience and return to a serious position by the matured |
2001: Volgograd Tractor Plant
A friend of George Gens, businessman Kakha Bendukidze (until 2004 - general director of the United Machine-Building Plants holding) helped Philip get a job in the management team that saved the Volgograd Tractor Plant from the crisis. Philip received the position of director of export.
At first it was scary. I arrived quite glamorous from England and in 2000 went to the factory to get acquainted with the situation with an earring in my ear, in a white silk suit and ostrich shoes. After that, I threw out the suit, and fortunately, I managed to remove the earring before the factory |
During his work at the plant, Gens Jr. traveled all over Russia and the CIS, visited Syria and Iraq.
I got a fantastic negotiation experience. Negotiations in Uzbekistan for the sale of tractors usually lasted two weeks: every day from 9 to 6 hours. I was brought to a beautiful room in tiles with glass, behind which, of course, there were people and cameras. Kagebash interrogation of the third degree began. The first negotiators came with a proposal on what the price should be. I explained to them what the price really could be and why. Negotiators changed every four hours, and I was only given water. Took real excitement. When they realized that I was not to "push," they moved on to trumps. I was called to the deputy head of government, responsible for the country's agriculture, with him another 40 people. And a conversation began under the voice recorder about the serious condition of the republic and how they needed tractors. Of course, they periodically knocked down the price, but they did not always succeed |
After the tractor plant in 2005-2006, Philip worked as an adviser to the head of the Russian representative office of the Douglas Consulting Industries management company, as well as vice president of the Uralsib financial corporation.
At URALSIB, I again learned to sell, and there, in principle, it is difficult to sell, - he recalled |
2006: Alliance Continental Management Company Elena Baturina
In 2006-2008, he was engaged in structuring and direct investment in the Alliance Continental management company owned by Elena Baturina.
Work in the structures of Baturina ended quite badly: it was not about me, it was just that the company was close to its sunset. There was a sense of meaninglessness about what I was doing, "Philippe recalled |
In 2008, Alliance Continental Management Company discontinued its mutual funds. The company explained its decision by the low profitability of this area, which followed the withdrawal of assets by the main client of Alliance Continental, the head of Inteko, Elena Baturina.
2008: Return to Lanit
After leaving Alliance Continental in 2008, Philippe Gens decided "that it is time to do what is useful and really pleasing."
In "Lanita" honest and good work. In addition, raising your own is more pleasant than someone else's, - he explained |
Having become vice president of Lanit, Gens Jr. took up the maintenance and development of large corporate accounts, and the maintenance of M&A transactions. He participated in the strategic development of the business of the LANIT group of companies, including the head of the Dmitrovsky Technopark project.

Private security companies ensure the safety of companies belonging to the Lanit group, its representative told TAdviser.
Before Philip Gens, security companies belonged to a group of businessmen associated with football, including the owner of the Spanish football club Marbella Alexander Greenberg, Russian football agent Oleg Artemov, sports director of the Rostov football club Alexei Ryskin.
In 2012, Novaya Gazeta wrote about the joint business of Greenberg, Artyomov and Ryskin with Andrei Malevsky, the brother of the ex-leader of the Izmailovsky organized criminal group Anton Malevsky, known as Anton Izmailovsky and the aluminum king of Russia, who died in 2001[3].
And in September 2017, Alexander Greenberg, along with a number of other Russian businessmen, was detained in Spain on charges of laundering €30 million through Spanish companies (Marbella football club, Agua Sierra de Mijas and Dama de Noche golf club), as well as participation in Izmailovo and Solntsev criminal groups[4]
2018
President's appointment of Lanit after the death of his father
On May 7, 2018, Lanit reported that Philip Gens accepted the powers of the president of the Lanit Group of Companies. He continues the work of his father, George Gens, who suddenly died on April 30, 2018.
Operational management in the companies of the Lanit Group remains unchanged. All executives continue their current work. Companies operate as usual and fulfill all obligations to customers and partners. Lanit, relying on a strong, professional team and a strong financial position, has all the resources to fulfill its obligations and looks to the future with confidence, the company said in a statement. |
Philippe Gens noted that over the past year, his father has been preparing to give him the authority to operate the company in order to focus more on the strategic development of the group.
In an interview with TAdviser in March 2018 , George Gens said that the management of the group's companies began to delegate more to his son Philip and other managers.
In an interview with Kommersant, Philip himself added that they did not have time to complete the transfer of powers, and it was planned to announce it "in three or four months."
The process was launched, I am deep in the topic, now I am appointing and picking up absolutely everything that happened. I used to be mostly responsible for retail. Now I will deal with it a little less, more - "Lanit" |
In addition, Gens Jr. said that he trusts the current team of top managers and does not plan to change managers.
Vladimir Gribov, managing director of Lanit, added that over the past few years, Philip Gens has deeply immersed himself in the group's business processes. The top management of Lanit, according to Gribov, expresses its absolute confidence in Gens Jr. and will provide full support in the new position.
When asked about the ownership of Lanit shares, Philip Gens noted that Lanit will remain a family company.
My sister Elena Gens will oversee the social projects that Lanit supported. This is a series of exhibitions Livre d'artiste in the Pushkin Museum, the introduction of IT on the stage of the Ermolova Theater and much more. I will not talk more about ownership yet, because now we ourselves have not yet figured out what everything will look like. |
Philip did not receive proposals from other groups to join Lanit as shareholders.
To be honest, I like how everything works with us, I would continue to live in the same paradigm. There is no need for new shareholders to come |
Transfer of George Gens assets to Philip Gens
After the death of the founder of the Lanit Group of Companies, George Gens, his son Philip Gens entered into inheritance rights for all companies owned and in which his father had a share. The list of the main assets of Philip Gens can be found above in the Assets block.
Lanit is one of the oldest and largest groups in the Russian IT market. She has been working since 1989. The group's revenue in 2017 amounted to 137 billion rubles with VAT. In the rating "TAdviser100: The largest IT companies in Russia," Lanit ranks 3rd. The company's business is represented in many segments of the IT market, including software development, integration, distortion, retail sales of digital equipment, etc.
Georgy Gens died suddenly at the end of April 2018. From October to December, the inheritance of most of the assets by Philip Gens was formalized. So, according to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, since December 2018, he has been the 100% founder of LLC "Dihaus" (DiHouse), a distributor of mobile equipment and digital gadgets. Since 2013, the 100% founder of this company was Georgy Gens, and before that - legal entities registered in the Seychelles.
In December 2018, half of Konsist LLC (operating in the market as Consist Business Group) also transferred to Konsist Gens. Previously, this share belonged to his father. The other half of the company is owned by the Systematics Group of Companies. In turn, since February 2016, Consist has been 100% owned by Sciner, in which previously a 86% stake belonged to Systematics.
Since December, Gens Jr. has also owned 100% of LANIT-Consulting the and companies. Lanit-Integration Lanit Consulting was 100% owned by George Gens, as was LANIT-Integration. Since February 2016, Konsist has been listed as the sole founder (Tops Consulting Tops Consulting), in which it previously had a share of Systematics.
Since 2016, Georgy Gens has been the founder of LANIT-Terkom LLC. Other co-founders at the same time were Andrei Terekhov, who owned and owns 20% of the company, Vladimir Ufnarovsky with 10% of the company and then CJSC, and now Lanit-Holding LLC, which has 60% of the company. Now 10% in the authorized capital of LANIT-Terkom is owned by Philip Gens.
In 2009, Georgy Gens acted as the founder of Onlanta LLC. In 2013, Sergei Taran also co-founded the company. Subsequently, the share of George Gens in this company passed to Philip Gens. Since December 2018, he owns 63% in the authorized capital of the company, Taran - 37%.
Since October 2018, Philip Gens also owns 70% of the authorized capital of Artesio (Artezio) and 90% of the authorized capital of Artesio - Saratov. Previously, his father also previously owned shares in these companies. In the same companies, shares are also owned by Pavel Adylin and Alexander Izosenkov.
In 2011, Gens Sr. established Dmitrovsky Technopark in the form of a CJSC. It was later converted into an LLC. Since October 2018, Philip Gens has owned 91.9% of the company, another 8.1% belongs to Dmitrovsky Technopark LLC itself.
At the same time, there is no information in the open databases about who has owned one of the group's key companies since 2018 - JSC "Lanit" (formerly CJSC), where Georgy Gens and his wife Tatyana Konnik were previously co-founders. It can be assumed that, like other key assets of the group, Philippe Gens now has the main stake in it.
Some other legal entities that are part of Lanit also exist in the form of JSC, and they cannot be used to find out the names of shareholders in open databases. For example, a company "Lanit B.P. Em" (Lanit). BPM
The structure of ownership of Lanita's retail business remains unclear. Since 2012, its development has been carried out within the framework of the Inventive Retail Group. The trademark Inventive Retail Group, according to the Kontur-Focus database, belongs to reStor LLC, which also owns the rights to the re: Store trademark.
In turn, the 100% founder of reStor since 2013 is Restor Retail Group Limited, registered in the British Virgin Islands, whose ultimate beneficiaries are not available in open databases. She is also the 100% founder of Ixtrim, Reinvent and the DLM Inventory company created in February 2019.
Lanit did not provide TAdviser with information about the beneficiaries of those group companies about which there is no information in open databases.
It should be noted that even before the transfer of George Gens' shares in Lanit assets to Philip, the latter was deeply involved in this business. He himself previously said that over the past year, his father was preparing to transfer the powers of operational management of the company to him in order to focus more on the strategic development of the group. Therefore, by the time of the death of George Gens, he was already completely immersed in the business. The[5], was[6]

Among them are legal entities under which Treolan, LANIT-Terkom, Center for Technical Projects, CompTek, Lanter and many others work. By that time, he managed to take possession of shares in other legal entities.
At the same time, the founder and co-founder of some legal entities that are part of the LANIT group is the financial director of the group, Alexander Mikhailov. For example, Mikhailov is the 100% founder of LANIT Urals, co-founder of Lanit BP Em and LAN ATMservice. Historically, in open databases, George Gens is not listed among the co-founders of these legal entities.
It is worth noting that the Unified State Register of Legal Entities has not updated information about all companies related to Lanit, which is why Georgy Gens is still listed as a co-founder of a number of companies. For example, in the "Network Academy LANIT Perm," "Network Academy LANIT SPB" existing in the form of a non-profit educational organization, and a number of other legal entities related to educational activities. Also, he still has a share in 1.5% of the authorized capital of MSM, where Dmitry Balalykin is the main founder.
