Any information system, and the cloud platform, first of all, must be protected from possible threats, a project must be developed and implemented on the appropriate subsystem, regulations must be strictly observed.

According to representatives of "Technoserv," cloud services as a whole are better protected than the customer's internal systems, if only because the cloud service provider pays special attention to this, often having better expertise. Security tasks in the company are dealt with by a separate department, whose employees carry out round-the-clock threat monitoring.

In addition to information security issues, the cloud service provider must make its solution catastrophic, protecting the customer from possible accidents in the data center, data transmission network or power system. Finally, the platform itself must be designed with a focus on maximum service availability, which means multiple internal backups, protection against human errors, the presence of test loops and much more.

Why the "cloud" "Technoserv" can be considered full-fledged

As of 2016, there is no established terminology in the field of cloud computing in Russia. Even the term "cloud computing" itself has not yet fully entrenched. The lack of established terminology leads to the fact that the very concept of cloud services is blurred, often they include completely distant products and solutions.

Technoserv The Cloud platform provides five mandatory features of a full-fledged cloud in accordance with the classification (National Institute of Standards and Technology USA National Institute of Standards and Technology, NIST):

  • on-demand self-service,
  • broad network access,
  • resource pooling,
  • measured service,
  • rapid elasticity.

What to mean by on-demand self-service? Technoserv understands this as providing the customer with a mechanism (online portal) to independently change the parameters of the cloud in real time without the participation of the contractor's specialists, this gives the customer speed, transparency and predictability. The customer should not enter a request in the Service Desk or send an email, and then wait a few days for someone on the contractor's side to make the necessary settings. The "manual drive" is not only inconvenient for the customer, it is also less reliable.

What to mean by broad network access? Services shall be available over the network without reference to the customer's device and location. Standard access mechanisms shall be used. If this condition is not met, the customer must spend time and resources, and therefore incur additional costs, while he receives restrictions on the use of the product.

What to mean by resource pooling? Cloud provider resources must be collected into a common pool, part of the resources from the common pool can be issued under a specific customer. It is important that resources can be dynamically assigned and reassigned transparently to the customer. The technology platform itself should also remain transparent.

What to mean by rapid elasticity? Perhaps this is the most important characteristic of a cloud product. The resources provided to the customer should be able to elastically build up or shrink. For some products, such as backup or object storage, automatic shrinkage or extension must be available. It is this option that gives the customer the opportunity to really consume and, as a result, pay for the amount of resources that he needs at the moment.

What to mean by measured service? In many ways, this point is related to the previous one. The consumption of elastic resources must be measured. The Contractor shall provide an automated mechanism for monitoring the capacity consumed by the customer based on a service-specific set of metrics. For example, for a virtual server, such metrics can be processor time, the amount of RAM and hard drives, and for Service Desk, the metric will already be the number of users with a particular role. Accounting for real consumption and billing should take place according to algorithms prescribed and understandable to the customer, at any time these calculations should be available to the customer for viewing. There should be no mechanisms for manually forming invoices at the end of the month, this approach deprives the customer of the opportunity to predict their costs.

Together, these five characteristics give the customer a really flexible solution that they can directly use, adapt for themselves, build their own products on their basis, and provide services to their business users or customers.

If these characteristics are not met, the customer is forced to work with an inert, limited and poorly predicted system, which at some point may not provide the necessary resources, concluded in Technoserv.
