History

2023

Close MTS deal

On April 27, 2023, representatives of MTS PJSC informed TAdviser about the closure of the transaction for the acquisition of control in the company Project Environment LLC (SCOUT-Corporate Solutions group of companies). According to the terms of the transaction, MTS received 51% of the shares of Project Wednesday LLC.

SCOUT-Corporate Solutions (SCOUT-KR) will function in the perimeter of the MTS group as an independent company, which will continue to be led by the current team of founders and management.

According to MTS calculations, the acquisition of SCOUT-KR will strengthen MTS's position in the Internet of Things market in the segment of transport telematics, supplementing the ecosystem of B2B products due to the development of the Transport and Geonavigation vertical. SCOUT-KR offers solutions for improving traffic safety and economic efficiency for large corporate fleets, implemented on the basis of its own SaaS platform SKAI using IoT technologies, computer vision and artificial intelligence.

As of the end of April 2023, more than 30,000 vehicles were connected to SCOUT-KR services, 70 large holdings use the company's services. The main products are designed to reduce fleet costs (SKAI. Basic monitoring; SKAI. Economical driving; SKAI. Fuel control) and improving traffic and operational safety (SKAI. Safe driving; SKAI. Video analytics; SKAI. Situation Center).

MTS bought 50% of Project Environment

At the end of March 2023, it became known about the sale of the controlling share (more than 50%) of the Project Environment company to the telecom operator. MTS According to writes, the Kommersant value of the transaction amounted to about 1.5-2 billion. rubles

MTS bought a developer of IoT solutions for transport

Dmitry Petrov, general director of the Comfortel telecom operator, believes that the new asset may allow MTS to increase revenue in the mobile data segment, since after the purchase, the vendor will begin to use only the services of the operator, and not third-party telecom operators.

As automotive analyst Vladimir Bespalov told the publication at the end of March 2023, MTS has recently been expanding the presence of IoT solutions for business on the market, and also goes into transport, and in such conditions the deal looks logical - the company will be able to provide customers with this product within the framework of complex solutions. At the same time, the expert notes that the demand for the solution will also depend on its effectiveness in terms of cost reduction.

Dmitry Kornachev, executive director of the Consortium of Enterprises in the Field of Automotive Electronic Devices and Telematics Association, says that a negative factor may be a restriction on the supply of new cars, although this may be leveled: "The presence of demand for new equipment, among other things, depends on state support, for example, preferential leasing programs for trucks."[1]
