2009: Opening of a technology center in Moscow
The first Microsoft technology center in Russia was opened in November 2009 in Moscow. He also became the first in the corporation in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
The Moscow Technology Center is designed to create industrial installations - "test drives" of Microsoft technologies for various industries, as well as to hold briefings and demonstrations at the level of top management of the corporation, partners and customers.
The total area of the center was about 1200 sq.m. The launch pad for the facility was originally deployed at Microsoft's office in Krylatskiye Kholm, and then it moved to a separate building in the business center near the Belorusskaya metro station.
The volume of investments in the facility together with Microsoft partners amounted to $10 million in equal proportion.
In 2012, a branch of the Microsoft technology center in Novosibirsk was also created. About $1.2 million was invested in it together with partners.
2014: New Technology Center in Moscow
In the spring of 2014, Microsoft announced the opening of a new technology center in Moscow, created to replace the previous one. It is also located at the Belorusskaya metro station.
The new facility is more spacious than the previous center - 1700 sq. M., led TAdviser data in Microsoft. It, according to the corporation, contains "the latest equipment and solutions that meet all modern trends in the development of the IT industry, such as mobility, big data, cloud, social media."
The total investment in the new Technology Center amounted to about $15 million: $7.5 million was invested by Microsoft itself and $7.5 million by its partners.
The main task of the new center, as well as the previous one, is to provide an opportunity for customers and partners to get acquainted with modern IT technologies - from tools in the field of corporate mobility to the most complex solutions for building modern data centers, as well as test them. Technical center services are free of charge.
