In Moscow, electric buses began to charge in a new way
In November 2021 To Moscow , they began to use new charging systems for electric buses. First, the technology will be tested on two vehicles running along route No. 791.
An innovative device with a reverse pantograph provides top-down contact with transport. On the roof of the electric bus there are contact rails, on which a pantograph is lowered. This technology will facilitate the electric bus and reduce the cost of transport. In addition, the technology involves the use of two-way Wi-Fi communication.
As emphasized in the Moscow Department of Transport, the interaction of the electric bus and the charging station is a completely domestic development. Thanks to it, parking of the electric bus will be predictable and will allow drivers to spend less time charging the electric bus.
Moscow will be the first city in Russia where the introduction of innovative electric transport infrastructure will begin. Such a technology, approved by NAMI, will allow charging any types of freight and commercial electric vehicles that can be used for urban needs, "said Maxim Liksutov, deputy mayor of the capital for transport. |
This is a joint pilot project of the Department of Transport and Road Transport Infrastructure Development and the NAMI Institute. The innovative charging station is located in the branch "Central" GUP. Mosgortrans""
New charging stations were specifically launched before the start of winter to see how they would work in cold weather. If the technology turns out to be effective, it will begin to be massively introduced in Moscow after February 2022.

2018: Electric buses strike oil industry
By 2018, electric buses, until recently not taken seriously by anyone, turned out to be the very lever with which you can turn the world of urban transport and radically influence the development of the oil industry.
In China, 9.5 thousand electric buses are produced every five weeks (figures comparable to the entire fleet of England), which are immediately displayed on city routes instead of diesel cars. By the end of 2017, 385,000 such buses were traveling around the world, and the predominant part - 99% - was moving along the streets of Chinese cities. Electric buses account for 17% of this urban vehicles of the Celestial Empire, and this is just the beginning.
Of course, such production rates have noticeably reduced the demand for fuel. Diesel buses consume 30 times more fuel than cars, and the introduction of electric buses has had a much greater impact on the energy sector than all cars produced by Tesla, Toyota and other companies combined.
According to BNEF calculations, each thousand electric buses will displace about 500 barrels of diesel fuel per day from the market. Taking into account the 1.9 thousand electric buses produced weekly in the PRC, the same number of them is scrapped, that is, in other words, it ceases to consume diesel. As a result of the production of Chinese electric buses in 2018, fuel consumption will decrease by almost 280 thousand barrels per day, that is, by 37%. By comparison, about the same amount of fuel is burned by Greece, with urban transport accounting for 233,000 barrels.
Authorities in major cities around the world have long been trying to solve the problem of polluted air. The pressure of environmental organizations and international obligations is not weakening, so the purchase of electric buses will be extremely profitable, said Colin McKerracher, head of the London Transport Research Center.
China is outstripping the world by replacing diesel urban transport with electric transport, but there is a reason - Chinese cities, which developed at a rapid pace in the twenty-first century, had the most serious air pollution problems. In the early 2000s, Shenzhen was a typical example of a thriving Chinese city with suffocating smog, and in 2009 the government selected it for a pilot program to save energy and introduce zero-emission vehicles.
In 2011, the Chinese company BYD released the first electric buses, and by December 2017, the entire Shenzhen city transport fleet - 16 thousand units - consisted of only them. BYD is responsible for 13% of the Chinese electric bus market - by 2018, the company had produced 35,000 units of equipment and entered into an agreement for the supply of another 15,000 for the next year. BYD estimates the company's buses have saved 6.8 billion litres of diesel, meaning 18 million tonnes of carbon dioxide has not entered the atmosphere. For comparison, the European leader in urban electric transport, Great Britain, has only 344 electric buses, in France there are only 75 units of electric public transport.
But other cities are already taking an example from Shenzhen. Paris, London, Mexico City and Los Angeles, as well as nine other metropolitan areas around the world, have announced a full transition to sustainable public transport by 2025. London is slowly replacing its fleet - already four routes in the city centre are served by electric buses, and the programme plans to upgrade 5,000 older diesel buses.[4]
