The administration of the Kashira city district is the executive and administrative body of local self-government of the city district, endowed with powers to resolve issues of local importance and powers to exercise certain state powers transferred to local self-government bodies by federal laws and laws of the Moscow region.

2015
Renaming Administration
Based on the decision of the Council of Deputies of the Kashirsky Municipal District dated December 29, 2015 No. 210[1], the Administration of the Kashirsky Municipal District was renamed the Administration of the Kashir Urban District.
Kashira Urban District formation
On the basis of the law of the Moscow region dated September 23, 2015 No. 146/2015-OZ[2], the territories of the urban settlement of Kashira, the urban settlement of Ozherelye, the rural settlement of Bazarovskoye, the rural settlement of Domninskoye, the rural settlement of Znamenskoye, the rural settlement of Koltovskoye, the rural settlement of Topkanovskoye were united without changing the boundaries of the territory of the Kashirsky municipal district. As a result of the unification of settlements, the powers of local governments and local government officials of each of the united settlements were terminated. Settlements have lost the status of municipalities. The urban settlement formed by changing the composition of the territory of the Kashirsky municipal district was endowed with the status of an urban district - the urban district of Kashira.

According to 2013 data, the total area of the Kashirsky district is 644.83 square meters. km, on which 70.0 thousand people live (urban population - 51.5 thousand, rural - 18.5 thousand people). The proportion of age groups in the total population was distributed as follows: younger than working age - 16.1%; working age - 61.0%; pensioners - 22.9%.
Leading industries:
On the territory of the district there are nine agricultural enterprises that specialize in crop production, vegetable growing, potato growing, poultry farming, animal husbandry.

It dates back almost six and a half centuries to the history of Kashira. Kashira is first mentioned as a village on the left bank of the Oka River at the confluence of the Kashirka River, in the spiritual letter of Moscow Prince Ivan 2 the Red in 1356. It is known that back in the 4th century, long before its formation, Slavs - Vyatichi lived along the banks of the Oka.
