Applications

One of the most known applications created by the company is SPB Mobile Shell — the program cover for the operating system. Covers offer the user the improved interface, significantly increase convenience of handling of the mobile device and provide deeper control over phone, than it is provided by the operating system. The SPB Mobile Shell program repeatedly won the different tenders devoted to mobile applications. In 2009 the program was recognized by the best application of year for Windows Mobile OS and the best application for personalisation.

In addition to the SPB Mobile Shell program, the SPB Software company offers some more tens of applications for individual users of mobile devices: communication, system, multimedia and business applications. The separate division of the company is engaged in development of mobile games. The programs developed by SPB Software company regularly win the different competitions of the software held both by sellers, and OS developers.

The company received more than once prestigious ranks including repeated "The best software maker of year".

For several years the SPB Software company closely cooperates mobile device manufacturers including with leaders of the industry: Acer, AnyDATA, ASUS, BenQ, E-TEN, Gigabyte, Hewlett-Packard, HTC, Mio, Nokia, ORSiO, Palm, Pharos, Rover, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and Toshiba. Many applications created by the company appear already preset on the newest models of mobile devices — more than 65 new models of mobile phones left the completed programs of SPB Software company that made over 10,000,000 licenses worldwide.

History

• On November 28, 2011 it became known that "Yandex" for $38 million purchased SPB Software company, the developer of mobile products and the creator of the well-known Spb Mobile Shell interface.

The source close to negotiations between "Yandex" and SPB Software told CNews^[1]that acquisition cost the searcher $38 million.

Offices of development and design of SPB Software are located in St. Petersburg, Thailand and on Taiwan. In total at them 75 people work.

As a result of purchase the company will save the name and will continue to work on own product line, but at the same time the system cover of SPB Shell 3D will be integrated with cloud services and technologies of "Yandex".

Besides, in "Yandex" expect a synergy effect as a result of cooperation of mobile developers of "Yandex" and SPB Software.

Thus, says the searcher, "Yandex" begins to provide to vendors an important component of any mobile platform - the interface including access to key services. It will allow it to cooperate with many companies of the mobile industry more closely.
