2023: Transfer of all Rostec medical technology developments to the company

At the end of May 2023, it became known that the state corporation Rostec was forming a single center for the creation, promotion and maintenance of medical equipment. In particular, we are talking about organizing the mass production of Russian equipment for ultrasound, resuscitation, anesthesia, emergency care, gynecology, etc.

According to the Izvestia newspaper, the new structure will have to coordinate the work of approximately 30 enterprises that are involved in the creation of medical devices as part of Rostec. The company that will oversee the development of medical instrumentation has already been identified in the contour of the state corporation: this is RT-Medical Technologies, headed by Sergei Dmitrochenko, who previously held the post of deputy general director of Shvabe for the promotion of civilian products.

The goal of the initiative is to increase Rostec's share in the segments of its presence and "enter the list of leaders" among suppliers of products for diagnostics, surgery, resuscitation, ophthalmology, dentistry and other areas of medicine. The fact is that in the current geopolitical situation, many foreign suppliers of medical equipment have curtailed their activities in the Russian market, and therefore the demand for domestic solutions is growing.

According to experts of the state corporation, as Izvestia notes, the volume of the market for medical devices in the Russian Federation is about 600 billion rubles a year. At the same time, at least 70% is accounted for by suppliers from "unfriendly countries." At the same time, Rostec in the segments of its presence controls no more than 5% of the medical sector. The figure is expected to rise to 20% by 2030. In general, the emerging market environment gives Russian companies an opportunity to strengthen their position in areas where foreign suppliers have dominated for decades.[1]
