2023: Acquisition by a subsidiary of Rosatom of a stake in Kama for 6.2 billion rubles

On July 24, 2023, information appeared that Ranera, a subsidiary of the Rosatom state corporation, became a co-owner of Kama JSC, which is developing the Atom electric car. This follows from the company report.

As noted, Ranera's share in Kama is at least 20%. The transaction amount is almost 6.2 billion rubles. Rosatom called the deal "a relatively small investment in a promising project."

The state-owned company also noted that it is already producing components for electric vehicles, which will have a positive effect on the future serial production of Atom electric vehicles.

Serial assembly of "Atom" is planned to begin in mid-2025. A sample electric car was presented in May, during 2023 the company will test a battery created in conjunction with Ranera[1]

According to the newspaper, at the end of November 2021, the Kama project was presented to investors at the Skolkovo innovation center. At the meeting, they also talked about the technical characteristics. The new electric car will be 4.4 m long, 1.8 m wide and 1.66 m high, loaded weight - 1690 kg, power - 110 kW (150 hp), with front-wheel drive. The maximum speed of the Kama will be 150 km/h, the range on one charge is up to 450 km.

The general director of KamAZ, Sergei Kogogin, clarified that we are talking about a completely new Kama electric car, which should not be confused with the Kama-1 concept.

What time will the electric crossover be estimated by December 2021. In 2020, the preliminary price of the Kama-1 model was called within 1.2-1.4 million rubles.

One of Vedomosti's interlocutors noted that the Kama project was made in the expectation that the state would support the development of its own electric transport technologies. However, according to the adopted concept for the development of electric vehicles, the emphasis is on the localization of foreign electric vehicles in Russia. According to the interlocutor, there is a need for further development of the platform.[2]
