2015: Sale of Acano of Cisco company
On November 20, 2015 Cisco announced purchase of Acano for $700 million cash. This acquisition in the market of solutions for joint work is not the first for the American producer.
After closing of the transaction (it is planned for February-April, 2016) Acano will become a part of division of Collaboration Technology Group headed by Rowan Trollope. The last commented on the transaction as follows:
"Our clients say to us that they want to work more with Cisco, but with preserving of the operating infrastructure. Acano is the bridge which executes everything that is necessary, and it is even more".
According to Trollope, many companies want that cloud providers managed all video communications. Cisco already offers similar services, and Acano technologies will expand their opportunities, the head of Cisco Collaboration Technology Group added.
The business connected with release of solutions for joint work is one of the most fast-growing at Cisco. In the first quarter of 2016 financial year (it is closed on October 24 the 2015th calendar) sales of these products at the company jumped by 17% year on year, having reached $1.12 billion and having made 9% in the consolidated Cisco revenue.
To Acano the Cisco corporation already made several large purchases in the market of technologies for joint work. So, in 2010 the Norwegian producer of the Tandberg VKS systems for $3.3 billion was purchased, and three years before Cisco purchased the developer of services for communication on the Internet of WebEx Communications for $3.2 billion[1]
