Springpath

Springpath  is a producer  the software  for the hyper convergent  environments integrating computing and network equipment and also storage systems. The company offers a distributed file system for the hyper convergent systems, turning on the server hardware and storage systems. The technology developed by the company is called Springpath HX Data Platform. It is used in the Cisco UCS servers for creation of the HyperFlex systems.

2017: Cisco buys Springpath for $320 million

On August 21, 2017 the American producer of network equipment Cisco announced purchase of the compatriot — Springpath company. The cost of the transaction is $320 million.

Pay Cisco for purchase from own means and also extra fees in the form of equity participation. Close the transaction it is going to close by the end of October, 2017. At first regulators should approve it.

According to the statement of Cisco, the company will be able to accelerate development of the strategy in software-defined infrastructure and creation of new generation of technologies for data centers thanks to merger of Springpath.

This acquisition is significant addition to our solution portfolio for DPCs and corresponds to our general transition to the program focused solutions — the vice president for corporate development of Cisco Rob Salvagno says. — I am glad to an opportunity to provide to our clients and partners simplicity and flexibility which are necessary to them when it is about innovations in data centers.

As notes the CRN edition, in August, 2016 there passed information on plans of Cisco to purchase Springpath. Then it became known that Cisco already has a share in this company.

Cisco tried to strengthen positions in the field of hyper convergent solutions for the purchases account of some of leaders of this market — Nutanix and SimpliVity. However bargains SimpliVity did not manage to be concluded. HPE was purchased.^[1]
