Portshift — the Israeli developer of the platform for protection of the container (Kubernetes) applications created by the DevOps commands. The solution allows to eliminate the wrong configurations in Kubernetes which, according to in the company, are one of the main reasons of insufficient security of container environments. Portshift is founded in 2018 as corporate division of venture Team8 group. The startup was based by the former head of division on release of solutions for protection of infrastructure in Rahn Check Point Technologies company Ran Ilany.

2020: Cisco purchased Portshift
On October 1, 2020 Cisco announced Portshift acquisition. The companies did not begin to open financial and other terms of transaction which is going to be closed in the first half of 2021 financial year. It is known only that the sold startup will be a part of division of Cisco Emerging Technologies & Incubation. Will pass all 15 employees working in Portshift into it.
Today the market of security technologies of applications is strongly fragmented, and many vendors prefer to solve only a part it problems — the senior vice president of Cisco Emerging Technologies & Incubation Liz Centoni says. — The Portshift command creates opportunities which cover the most part of lifecycle of the cloud applicaion. |
Cisco emphasizes that the corporation after purchase of Portshift will be able to offer clients security of all development stages of applications. Portshift also corresponds to vision of Cisco to ensuring safe connection between users, devices and applications where they were, Chentoni noted.
By the beginning of October, 2020 of PortShift attracted about $5.3 million from Team8 incubator. Such giants as Cisco, Microsoft and Walmart support Team8.[1]
