Cisco completed process of acquisition of Intucell private company in February, 2013. This company with the headquarters in the Israeli city of Raanana offers the software for selfoptimizing networks (self-optimizing network, SON) allowing mobile operators to plan, to configure, control, optimize and repair cellular networks in the automatic mode, considering the changing demand for network services in real time. The cost of the transaction will be about $475 million.
Software from Intucell allows to detect failures, the raised loadings and other similar problems in mobile networks in real time and automatically arranges network under real loadings. For example, when too many users were connected to one base station, a system increases a covering, connecting nearby stations to service of this group of subscribers.
It in practice means decrease in quantity of the torn-off calls, the best covering of networks for users. For operators the main function of systems from Intucell consists in control of the growing volumes voice and date of traffic.
Staff of Intucell company will be a part of division of Cisco on development of technologies for mobile operators (Cisco Service Provider Mobility Group). Under the terms of the signed agreement, Cisco purchased all business and all transactions of Intucell company, having paid for it about 475 million US dollars cash and also privileges directed to employee retention of Intucell from transition to other companies and organizations.
