The Cisco company announced in March, 2011 intention to purchase newScale – the private company which is engaged in development of management tools services in the cloud systems. newScale was founded in 1999 and so far, according to in the company, the number of users of its products exceeded 2 million. One of the most known developments of newScale is Service Portal. It is the uniform directory of services of a cloud system with the user interface in the form of the web portal which is easily configured according to preferences of the user. Service Portal supports different data sources (including own packets of newScale RequestCenter and newScale LifecycleCenter), access control to information on the basis of a role model and other functions of monitoring and management of services.
newScale will be a part of division of Advanced Services of Cisco company. Financial terms of transaction are not disclosed. According to statements of Cisco, all developments of newScale will still be on sale and be supported by the company.
