Jasper Technologies is a developer of a cloud platform for Internet of Things (Internet of Things, IoT). The different devices interacting with each other are connected to it. By means of Jasper technologies it is possible to integrate in an ecosystem "smart" sensors and devices in the house, to configure industrial automation, etc.

2016: Cisco sale

On February 3, 2016 the producer of network equipment Cisco announced purchase of Jasper Technologies for $1.4 billion. This acquisition for the American corporation became the largest since 2013.

Cisco will pay the specified cash amount and also remunerations in the form of equity participation of the company of owners of Jasper. The head of Jasper Jahangir Mohammed will head new division which will focus on the software in the field of IoT in Cisco, and will submit to the senior vice president Rowan Trollope. It is going to close the transaction until the end of April, 2016.

I am glad that Cisco and Jasper will be able quicker to tell through joint efforts clients about the importance of Internet of Things — the CEO of Cisco Chuck Robbins said.

Cisco also announced plans to use developments of Jasper for development of wireless networks of an industrial class and to improve their possibilities of data analysis, collected from different devices.

The vice president for corporate development of Cisco Rob Salvagno noted that Internet of Things remained the priority direction of the company in recent years.

As notes Reuters agency, before Jasper purchase merger of the American developer of technologies of network security Sourcefire for $2.7 billion in 2013 was the last largest acquisition of Cisco.[1]
