The American company Observable Networks founded in 2011 is engaged in development of the technologies providing monitoring of networks in real time and revealing violations in work of security systems in a cloud environment.

2017: Cisco buys Observable Networks

On July 13, 2017 the American producer of network equipment Cisco announced acquisition of Observable Networks for the purpose of expansion of opportunities of the Stealthwatch platform intended for detection of anomalies in network and monitoring of performance. Financial terms of transaction of the party were preferred not to be opened.

Cisco is going to use the developed Observable Networks of machine learning technology in the Stealthwatch platform to accelerate response to cyber attacks and to increase transparency of all IT infrastructure covering, in particular, remote offices, data centers and public clouds.

Cisco buys software developer for network security of Observable Networks

According to the vice president for corporate development of Cisco Rob Salvagno, the Stealthwatch platform after inclusion of developments of Observable Networks will help the companies to identify quicker both internal, and external threats, and support of public cloud environments, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure will become one of the most important innovations.

One of partners of Cisco reported to the CRN edition that acquisition of Observable Networks proves the aspiration of the American IT giant to strengthen the strategy of cloud security.

It seems that it is small investments for Cisco, but at them [Observable Networks is a comment of TAdviser], most likely, there is an intellectual property in the field of cloud security which there is not enough Cisco — the interlocutor of the edition who wished to save anonymity said.

After the closing of the transaction planned for the first quarter of 2018 financial year, Observable Networks will be a part of division of Cisco Security Business Group under the leadership of the senior vice president of the company David Ulevitch.[1]
