2016: Creation of the company

At the beginning of April, 2016 the Microsoft corporation announced a new stage of cooperation with the Japanese carmaker Toyota Motor. As a result the list of partners of software giant in the automobile market who were connected to Azure cloud was replenished with one more company.

Toyotas and Microsoft create the technology center Toyota Connected within which the car maker will integrate development of the services in the field of the analysis and data management. It is about initiatives for consumers, corporate and state clients, the Chief information officer of North American representative office of Toyota Zac Hicks (Zack Hicks) who headed Toyota Connected reported.[1]

Microsoft connected Toyota to the cloud

Besides, the organization will be engaged in research projects in the field of robotics, artificial intelligence and unmanned vehicles.

5% of authorized capital of Toyota Connected will belong to Microsoft. The last will provide a cloud platform of Azure to which will connect automobile services Toyota. In particular, development of the solutions providing data exchange between cars on roads (for example, information on weather conditions or road jams) and also storing of habits and features of style of driving of drivers for insurance companies is planned.

Cloud infrastructure of Microsoft will be used by Toyota not only in cars, but also for business optimization. For example, using this technology it is going to improve work of marketing specialists, dealers and corporate vehicle fleets.

In Toyota say that work with the Azure platform will allow to create "the intellectual and intuitive services capable to adapt to certain conditions and a situation" that "give to experience of driving a human type, having shifted technologies on the second plan".

It should be noted that Toyota not the first car maker connected to cloud infrastructure of Microsoft. Earlier the same most was made by Ford Motor, BMW Group and Nissan Motor. Microsoft and Toyota companies cooperate since 2011.
