Network academies Cisco use the electronic model of education (e-learning) combining web training with occupations under the leadership of teachers. It includes the laboratory works giving practical skills of design, construction and service of computer networks.

Cisco academy in Russia

The first Cisco academy in Russia was open in Moscow based on National Research Nuclear University of MEPhI in 1999. For 2017 in Russia over 500 Cisco academies in which more than 650 certified instructors teach and the total number of graduates exceeded 72 thousand people. In 2016/2017 academic year the considerable gain of listeners (23%) is mentioned: according to the program about 22 thousand Russians were trained.

Cisco academies offer different training courses depending on qualification of the listener. At the same time the curriculum is built so that each following rate was logical continuation previous and allowed to raise the professional grade constantly. Listeners can select the direction in which they are going to develop: in the latest curriculum much attention is paid to such spheres as network technologies, information security and Internet of Things (IoT).

In 2014 the program of Network academy Cisco in Russia received an award of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. She became the prize-winner of the I All-Russian competition "Creating the Future" organized for identification of the best practices and technologies directed to professionalizing, career guidance and personal development of school students, students of average special and higher educational institutions and young specialists. For the best practice of support and cooperation with educational institutions to the program of Network academy Cisco the 1st place in category "Social Partner" was awarded.

In 2015 Cisco Moscow for vigorous educational activity for the benefit of the educational organizations of the capital of the Russian Federation received an official message of thanks of Department of information technologies. In the letter of acknowledgement the high level of social responsibility of the company is emphasized.

The joint initiative of Cisco and PH International non-profit organization – "Network Academy Cisco on Service of Society" (Cisco Networking Academies for Public Service Program (CNAPS)) became one of the significant projects implemented in 20 years of existence of the program of Network academy Cisco. The essence of the project was in that based on non-profit organizations to give an opportunity of training and certification in the students and young IT specialists interested in the help of social service of the population to organizations. In addition to increase in the professional grade of listeners, it was succeeded to make a contribution to cultural development of volunteer activity in Russia.

The program of retraining of the unemployed and citizens in the constrained economic circumstances within cooperation of Cisco and the Moscow Department of Education became one more sign project. Based on State educational institution of College of entrepreneurship No. 11 the Network Academy Cisco education center was created. The company provided the equipment for educational laboratory and trained instructors who free of charge trained listeners in bases of information and communication technologies. More than 200 people took part in the project, and the college performs retraining of the unemployed also now, including according to the courses program of Network academy.

Training materials of the program of Network academy Cisco are recognized around the world as the system of training of participants of the international WorldSkills championship on competence "Network and System Administration". The WorldSkills championships are regularly held in dozens of the countries of the world for the purpose of promoting of working professions and involvement of the young personnel to a manufacturing sector of economy and also for improvement of qualification standards of professional education taking into account national and international requirements.

Besides, Cisco supports the Moscow project "School of New Technologies" organized by the Moscow Department of Information Technology and the Moscow Department of Education. The project is designed to contribute to the development of technology approaches to the organization of educational process and information environment of educational institutions. Annually 200 schools and secondary vocational education institutions of Moscow take part in the project.
