Start of service

On October 14, 2019 start of the Sloy application developed by "Yandex" which, using technologies of computer vision, machine learning and augmented reality, allows to recognize clothes on video took place.

The application similar to TikTok is created for the publication of short videos using effects, filters, masks and music tracks. In the program the film of recommendations is output, users can subscribe for  other canals and  share own rollers.

The main function of service became automatic recognition of clothes on video: devices are displayed names of things, it is possible to watch videos with  similar elements of clothes. On  video it is possible to click on  any thing, for example, sneakers, to find rollers with  similar images  and also to discuss these sneakers in  a separate discussion.

By October 14, 2019 the Sloy application can be installed on iOS.[1] is going to release the Version for Android at the beginning of 2020.

Bloggers from  the world of style and  a fashion participated in development of the program. According to the project manager Daniil Trabun,  in the future augmented reality will change usual interaction of people with  the world around, and  the feshn-industry will also use it.

We  will collect the image  using virtual things, and  our smartphone will create a new layer for communication with  friends and  subscribers. In  augmented reality communities of people with  similar interests will appear. Besides,  AR-applications will create the new advertizing market for brands which want to work with  young audience in  digital reality — he reported.[2]

Testing of service

On June 10, 2019 it became known of creation by "Yandex" of the first application with support of augmented reality. Service under the name Sloy  is intended for virtual fitting of clothes.

About a new product of the Russian company  wrote Vedomosti  with reference to the published legal documents and also the unnamed representative of service " Yandex.zen ". The media director of " Yandex.zen " Daniil Trabun who in the past was the Chief Editor of the Afisha magazine directs the project.

Sloy allows to distinguish automatically articles of clothing on heroes of videos which users will remove and watch it. Besides, users will be able to try on in the mode of augmented reality on themselves virtual accessories and masks, to discuss a fashion with other people.

Are provided in an application interface a tape of the recommended videos, scanning of clothes, the recommended subscriptions, the camera and a profile of the user.  As explained in the company, when opening a roller the user will see information on each thing and other similar videos.

Sloy is the cornerstone the system of recognition and tracking of persons developed by the company with the Belarusian roots Banuba.

By June 10, 2019 Sloy test on one hundred experts in the field of a fashion, and later is going to connect also other users in the summer. Official application launch is planned for September, 2019.

In the publication of the edition it is said that the idea of the application appeared at the staff of " Yandex.zen " who was selected in a separate startup in the company earlier. The command began new product development at the beginning of 2019.

Sloy  became the first project of "Yandex" which is completely constructed on use of technologies of augmented reality. Earlier function of object recognition in a frame was partially used in the voice assistant Alice and the search system.[3]
