Udokan copper (formerly Baikal Mining Company)

Udokan Copper LLC (formerly Baikal Mining Company) was created to implement a project for the development of the Udokan copper deposit. The company owns the right to use subsoil for the production of copper and associated components, solves the task of creating a copper production with a high stable yield, minimal negative environmental and social impact, while respecting the interests of all interested parties.

2020: Assets

As of January 2020, the Udokan copper deposit with resources of over 26 million tons of copper is the largest copper deposit in Russia and one of the largest in the world. The field is located in the Kalarsky district of the Trans-Baikal Territory, 30 km from the Novaya Chara station of the Baikal-Amur Railway.

2019: Collaboration with IKS Holding to create the Center for Innovation in Chita

On June 7, 2019, it became known that IKS Holding and the Baikal Mining Company will create the Center for Innovation in Chita.

The corresponding agreement was signed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Baikal Mining Company Valery Kazikaev, the head of the IKS Holding Anton Cherepennikov, as well as the acting Deputy Prime Minister of the Trans-Baikal Territory for Investment Development Mikhail Churkin.

The innovation center will be created with the support of the government of the Trans-Baikal Territory. His work will be aimed at providing the region with IT specialists, introducing various models of education in the Trans-Baikal Territory, forming a system for training young talents, including the application of the best practices of basic and additional education.

The spread of digital technologies and their penetration into all spheres of human life lead to global changes. With the help of digital technologies, they literally develop the economy, their introduction is one of the most important conditions for the breakthrough development of the region. The creation of a modern digital infrastructure will give a qualitatively different leap in the use of digital skills and the training of professional personnel. The Center for Innovation in Chita is a launch project in this most important direction for the region. Its creation will give impetus to development in all sectors - from mining to medicine, will be the first step towards the creation of a modern economy in the Trans-Baikal Territory,

The center will unite representatives of the field of education, science, business. It will also include entrepreneurs in the field of high technology and members of public organizations. The work of the Center involves expertise in the field of innovation, assessment and selection of best practices, development models of the region.

Modern technologies have a tremendous impact on the development of regions, they change management models, form approaches to the organization of individual areas of activity. With the signing of the agreement, our strategic cooperation with the Trans-Baikal Territory began. As our experience shows, many regions have significant potential for the development and implementation of digital technologies. According to Valery Kazikayev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Baikal Mining Company, the Center will not only implement a national technological initiative in Transbaikalia, but will also contribute to the development of investment attractiveness and entrepreneurship in the region.

It will become a platform for early career guidance for young people and, in particular, for industrial projects. We expect that the Center will become a personnel forge for the Udokan Mining and Metallurgical Plant, the operation of which will require the use of the most modern equipment, technologies and equipment.
