2020: Creation of consortium

In May, 2020 the non-profit trade organization Object Management Group which was founded by the companies Dell Technologies, Lendlease Ansys and Microsoft, created consortium for development of standards digital doubles. The new organization received the name Digital Twin Consortium, in three weeks after its basis a large number of members joined it.

As reported in the press release, digital doubles on the basis of physical processes allow to carry out data analysis and monitoring of a system using computational modeling. They are invaluable to operating organizations, helping them to control the needs for maintenance, stability, efficiency and performance to generate predictive and effective analytical data. Nevertheless, the lack of the general standards and terminology complicates implementation of digital doubles for many organizations. Digital Twin Consortium will solve this problem.

Microsoft and Dell created consortium for development of standards of digital doubles

Digital Twin Consortium called three main objectives which will be solved by participants of alliance:

• Acceleration of market development for digital doubles due to development road maps and industry recommendations using an ecosystem of experts in this area;
• increase in compatibility of technologies of digital doubles by means of development of front lines methods of security, confidentiality and reliability;
• Risk reduction for capital projects and demonstration of value of technologies of digital doubles through real drafts and development of open solutions.

Ansys, in particular,  was engaged in creation of the requirements influencing new standards for digital doubles and also intends to promote formation of uniform terminology for simplification of their implementation. It will help to accelerate implementation of technology of digital doubles in a wide ecosystem of the companies in the different industries – from aerokosmosmichesky and defense industry before production and natural resources, declared in the company.^[1]
