2022: VK acquires Interactive Video Technologies

On October 7, 2022, it became known about the sale of the Movika service to the VK holding. The seller of the majority share in the interactive video service was Sberbank.

According to Interfax, on October 6, 2022, an entry was made in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities (USRUL), the consent of which 87.2% of Interactive Video Technologies LLC (a legal entity of the Movika brand) was transferred to the structure of VK LLC ITR. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Sberbank confirmed to the agency that the transaction was concluded.

ITR is 99.5% owned by VK LLC, the remaining 0.5% is owned by VK Company LLC. After ITR entered Movika's capital, the remaining stake in Interactive Video Technology was distributed between Alexander Smirnov (CEO) and Fanis Sadykov (7.52% and 5.28%, respectively).

The Interactive Video Technologies company is registered in Kazan and develops IT solutions for creating, monetizing, exporting and watching interactive video. Its products include software for integrating interactive video into an application, an interactive movie streaming service, and a cloud-based interactive video creation tool.[1]

2021: Sberbank bought 57.9% of Interactive Video Technology

On April 2, 2021, it became known about the purchase by Sberbank of 57.9% of Interactive Video Technologies LLC, which is developing the Movika interactive video service. The buyer was Digital Assets LLC, a member of the bank.

The sellers of the shares were the previous shareholders of the startup, whose shares decreased as a result of the transaction. The share of Fix Ventures LLC (owned by Dmitry Eremeev, head of the Fix traffic attraction company) decreased from 61.98% to 26.08%, the share of co-founder Alexander Smirnov - from 22.34% to 9.4%, Fanisa Sadykov - from 15.68% to 6.6%.

Sberbank acquired 57.9% of Interactive Video Technology

As the representative of Sberbank clarified to RBC, we are talking about the first stage of the transaction, and in the future the share in Interactive Video Technologies will be increased to 80%. Investments will be directed to the development of technologies for creating interactive video and to the development of the company. The bank plans to use platform technologies in services from its ecosystem. Sberbank already owns one of the leaders of the Russian market for online cinemas Okko.

Having a project with interactive video in your portfolio and experimenting with new formats is "useful," but Movika's chances of becoming a "media einstrim" are minimal, said Alexei Byrdin, head of the Internet Video Association. Experiments with interactive content have been going on for more than 30 years, but the truly nonlinearity of the plot is realized only in modern computer games.
