In February, 2021 the Russian mobile operator "MegaFon" and its only shareholder — USM Telecom holding (is a part of USM Holdings of Alisher Usmanov) — announced entry into the market of Uzbekistan. For this purpose the parties on a parity basis created Didzhital invest joint venture which, in turn, with the authorities of Uzbekistan formed Digital Holdings.
The agency on management of the state assets of Uzbekistan will enter to Digital Holdings 100% of stocks of local mobile operator Coscom (Ucell trademark). In exchange the agency will receive 49% in this holding.
The Russian partners will receive a share in 51% in Digital Holdings. MegaFon and USM invest $100 million in this holding and will transfer in it the digital assets which are available for them in Uzbekistan: CRPT Turon and ICS Holding Uzbekistan.
2018: Telia sold the company to the government of Uzbekistan for $215 million
At the end of 2018 Telia sold Coscom to local authorities on behalf of the State committee on support of privatization and development of the competition. Transaction amount was $215 million.
Since December 5, 2018 by SP COSCOM LLC it is transformed to COSCOM LLC because Telia abandoned the market of Uzbekistan.
2008: Transition to the Ucell trademark
In June, 2008 IP COSCOM was performed by complete restart of the trademark, and instead of the COSCOM brand the new Ucell brand appeared.
