The agency clarifies that the first two tranches of partial compensation were listed on January 15 and 29, 2024. Wildberries said that the amount of payment is not final and will be clarified. Sellers don't need to file additional paperwork to get paid.

File:Aquote1.png
The calculations are based on information in the Wildberries electronic accounting system. We will inform the sellers as soon as we calculate the total amount of compensation, and in case of additional questions, we will consider each case individually, added to Wildberries.

The general director of the law firm Fox Legal Consulting, Alexander Efimov, in a conversation with Forbes, advised sellers whose goods burned down in the Wildberries warehouse to document reports on the balances of goods in warehouses from internal programs, unload acceptance certificates with an electronic digital signature of the marketplace and save them in order to apply for a refund.

The goods burned in the warehouse were insured, but the warehouse itself was not, RBC writes, citing its sources. The All-Russian Union of Insurers said that property damage from the fire could exceed 10 billion rubles.

Anatoly Kuznetsov, president of the Union of Insurers of St. Petersburg and the North-Western District, said in an interview with Channel Five that the final assessment of damage is carried out using a specialized examination. The amount of insurance payments is determined by the contract concluded between the client and the company. The assessment procedure can take a long time: it depends on both the insurer and the police and the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

According to Kuznetsov, it may take weeks or even months before the payment period, depending on the scale of the fire. Wildberries may not get the money, the expert added.[1]

Security officials came to the Wildberries office in Moscow

On January 18, 2024, security officials came to the Wildberries office in Moscow. This was told in the press service of the marketplace.

File:Aquote1.png
Today, law enforcement agencies are working in the Wildberries office in Moscow in connection with a fire at a warehouse in Shushary. We are interested in the causes of the fire being established as soon as possible. Wildberries cooperates with the investigation and provides the competent authorities with all the necessary information, - said in a message on the retailer's Telegram channel.

Security officials came to the Wildberries office in Moscow

According to the source of the RTVI publication, we are talking about an office on Leninskaya Sloboda Street. Investigators on the spot work in civilian clothes.

RBC, citing an informed source, writes that fire safety checks are being carried out at all Wildberries facilities, including in offices. Security systems and documentation for all objects are being checked, the source said.

Wildberries assured that the visit of security officials to the office will not affect the work of the company.

The fire at one of the largest warehouses Wildberries occurred on January 13, 2024 in St. Petersburg. As a result of the incident, two workers were injured. The St. Petersburg Gosstroynadzor announced that Wildberries did not have permission to commission the warehouse. The company claims that it has received a conclusion on compliance (SPM) with all urban planning regulations and safety requirements. However, the ZOS, which was mentioned in Wildberries, is not a document that allows the operation of the facility, explained to Forbes lawyer, head of Saunin Law Practice Andrei Saunin. On the fact of the fire, the TFR opened a case of abuse of authority (part 1 of article 201 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

TASS, referring to operational services, wrote that the cause of the fire could be a wiring malfunction. The interlocutor of the agency added that the fire alarm at the warehouse "was turned off, as there was a repeated false operation." Wildberries claim that a fire alarm went off at the warehouse, after which "evacuation was carried out."[2]

Wildberries began working directly with manufacturers and sellers from China

The Wildberries marketplace began working directly with Chinese manufacturers and sellers. The founder and head of the company Tatyana Bakalchuk spoke about this in mid-December 2023.

Now we are starting to work with manufacturers and sellers from China - they will directly supply their products to us on the site for all countries of our presence, "she said in an interview with RBC.

At the same time, Bakalchuk noted that Russian business remains a priority and entry into the Chinese market will not affect it in any way. By the end of 2023, Russia accounts for a little more than 90% of Wildberries' turnover, and other countries - about 10%.

Wildberries' plans to enter the Chinese market in August 2023 were written "," Sheets citing a source in the marketplace and data from the open register of the Chinese trademark bureau. The newspaper then reported China trademark registration in all 45 classes of the ICTU.

Wildberries may have difficulties in new markets, experts interviewed by Vedomosti warn. China is one of the founders of Marketplaces, it is a highly competitive market, it will be very difficult for a new player on it, says Sergey Sanakoev, president of the Center for Asia-Pacific Studies. In particular, one of the largest international online retailers, Alibaba, works there. According to Sanakoev, Russian environmentally friendly products, as well as alcohol, are in demand from local buyers, but all this can be bought offline.

According to Mikhail Burmistrov, general director of Infoline Analytics, entering new markets, including Chinese, will help Wildberries develop relations with local sellers who are ready to work in the Russian market, the competition in which has greatly decreased amid sanctions.[3]

Fraudsters received real terms for the theft of 385 million rubles from Wildberries accounts

On December 4, 2023, it became known that the first convictions were passed in the case of embezzlement of 385 million rubles from the Wildberries marketplace. The attackers received real prison sentences; in addition, all of them are obliged to compensate for the damage caused.

in the case of embezzlement of 385 million rubles from Wildberries, the first convictions were passed

According to RBC, as of the beginning of December 2023, 14 fraudsters were prosecuted: the verdict was passed against nine criminals who received different sentences, including imprisonment for a period of five years or more. Five more have been charged. The courts in this case are held in different cities and regions: for example, four attackers were convicted in Moscow, three in Kazan and two in Chuvashia.

It is noted that the investigation continues. The identities and connections of everyone who participated in the criminal scheme have been established. However, since the attack on Wildberries, three suspects have died and several others have left Russia. Some legal entities and individual entrepreneurs who were involved in the fraudulent scheme were officially liquidated and deregistered. The investigation established that the organizers of the attack were previously convicted. The group included married couples and close relatives who acted by conspiracy.

File:Aquote1.png
Several participants in the fraudulent scheme themselves turned to Wildberries with explanations that they were misled by the attackers, and expressed their readiness to compensate for the damage and cooperate with the investigation, representatives of Wildberries say.[4]

On November 24, 2023, it became known that 105 Wildberries employees were taken to the military registration and enlistment office immediately after being detained at the company's warehouse in Elektrostal, Moscow Region. Some of them can be sent to military service if it is found that they fall under the autumn draft.

It is reported that riot police raided the Wildberries facility in Elektrostal and handed summons to the military registration and enlistment office to employees of the marketplace. It is noted that the representatives of the Russian Guard were primarily interested in those employees who are illegally on the territory of Russia, as well as those who have recently received Russian citizenship, but have not registered with the military. Wildberries confirmed the fact of the inspection.

In this regard, interruptions in the shipment and unloading of goods are possible at a number of areas of the logistics center. In connection with the raid, the work of the Wildberries sorting center was actually paralyzed. More than 8 thousand employees of the warehouse in Elektrostal could not begin to fulfill their duties. The shipment of hundreds of thousands of sellers' goods was suspended: this "threatens billions of dollars in losses for entrepreneurs in the high season," the company said. To normalize the work of the logistics center, it was necessary to attract workers from other branches of the company. As of November 24, 2023, it is not specified what financial losses the marketplace itself suffered as a result of the raid. Additional Order Confirmation Launch Plan

On October 9, 2023, Wildberries announced a plan to launch an additional order confirmation option to minimize the possibility of "random" orders on other devices, family members or third parties

The company launched the development of a solution in connection with one of the last such situations - the child made an order in the mother's application for 250 thousand rubles. Wildberries, based on an analysis of user behavior, concluded that her last order could indeed have been made by a child.

File:Aquote1.png
In order not to embarrass parents in front of a child waiting for an order made by him, we will soon launch the possibility of additional confirmation of the order before payment. With her, parents and children will be able to decide together what to order from us this time, - commented in the press service of Wildberries.

A massive hacking of the accounts of Wildberries sellers was recorded. They are ruined by fines and blackmailed

In mid-September 2023, it became known about the massive hacking of accounts of sellers of the Wildberries marketplace. Cybercriminals blackmail victims and literally ruin them with huge fines.

The criminal campaign scheme boils down to the fact that after hacking the seller's account, attackers create hundreds of non-existent goods at an unrealistically low price. In particular, fraudsters put up for sale inexpensive TVs, refrigerators, cooktops, boats, smartphones and other equipment.

Buyers begin to actively buy non-existent products, leaving applications for millions of rubles. However, the seller cannot fulfill such orders for the reason that all goods are fake. As a result, for canceling buyers' applications, the victim of cybercriminals receives a fine of 50% of the cost of each product from Wildberries.

One of the Wildberries sellers said that after hacking the account, he received 925 orders in about 4 million rubles in five hours. For the cancellation of such applications faces a fine of 2 million rubles. As of mid-September 2023, it has not been established who is behind the criminal scheme described.

Representatives of Wildberries note that some sellers may be to blame for what is happening. They do not comply with the recommendations of the marketplace and independently transfer their authorization data and access codes to third-party services to manage personal accounts. As a result, attackers gain access to their accounts and commit unauthorized actions. At the same time, Wildberries denies reports that account hacks are widespread.

{{quote 'This information is not true. We carefully study every such case, and none of them has been confirmed, "said representatives of the Internet trading platform[6] }}

How Wildberries earned 8 billion rubles on fines and quarreled with everyone

In early July 2023, it became known that the Wildberries marketplace earned more than 8 billion rubles on penalties against employees during 2022.

According to Forbes, the Wildberries site has introduced a new system of fines: if the buyer returns a defective or replaced item, then 100% of its value is withheld from the employee of the point of issue of orders (PVZ). The company claims that after analyzing substitutions, damage to goods and returns on marriage, a certain internal algorithm came to the conclusion that in 98% of cases it was the PVZ employee who was to blame. Moreover, it is impossible to challenge such a decision. Some marketplace employees say that the total amount of fines in them can reach 500 thousand rubles.

Wildberries earned more than 8 billion rubles on penalties against employees during 2022

It is noted that Wildberries has turned everyone against itself - both employees and buyers. Workers complain about harsh working conditions and a lack of a clear understanding of the size of wages. A fixed part of the salary is close to the minimum wage, while the rest is made up of bonuses and allowances, the amount of which is influenced by a percentage of the revenue of the PVZ, subsidies for its maintenance, the speed of laying out goods, personal rating of managers and other parameters. In fact, it is simply impossible to understand how much the employee will receive at the end of the month. In turn, buyers are unhappy with the unpredictable rules for returning goods.

A letter from the Association of E-Commerce Market Participants (AUREC) sent to Deputy Dmitry Gusev says that Wildberries unilaterally makes changes to contracts that "are bondage for sellers and other marketplace partners." One of the sellers of components for office equipment on several online sites notes that the repressive policy of Wildberries significantly hits profitability.

In 2022, Wildberries had a new earnings item - penalties and fines, which brought 8.4 billion rubles. In 2021, there was no such category in the financial statements. This is comparable to the net profit of the company, which in 2022 amounted to 10.1 billion rubles. Wildberries assured Forbes that the company "has no goal of collecting fines as income." At the same time, the creator and CEO of Wildberries Tatyana Bakalchuk, whose fortune is estimated at $8.8 billion, says that the main goal of the company is to become more open.[8]

Refinement of the mechanism for returning things with marriage

Wildberries has finalized the mechanism for returning things with marriage: the cost of reverse delivery is now not written off. The company announced this on June 26, 2023.

If the buyer noticed that the wrong product was sent to him or he has defects, it is enough to inform the manager of the point of issue. He will check the goods and make an appropriate mark in his working interface. After that, the cost of reverse transportation of goods with marriage, mistakenly delivered items or an undercomplete will not be written off.

Previously, the return fee was returned after confirming the marriage in the warehouse.

Loss of 650m due to fraudulent scheme related to advertising promotion on the site

The Wildberries security service has identified illegal ways to promote on the marketplace using external services. According to preliminary data, the amount of damage is about 650 million rubles, the company said on May 11, 2023.

As told in the company "RIA Novosti," sellers with the help of a bot in Telegram set up advertising campaigns on the site, but did not pay them. According to the retailer, about 300 sellers used these services. They will be obliged to pay the full cost of advertising on the site. Representatives of Wildberries filed a complaint with law enforcement agencies to initiate a criminal case of fraud on an especially large scale. The company reminded partners that the use of third-party services "can lead not only to the loss of personal account management and losses, but also to a violation of the law."

Wildberries revealed illegal ways to promote on the marketplace using external services

On May 11, 2023, the Mash Telegram channel reported that the company had contacted law enforcement agencies because of malicious software (software) that appeared on computers. According to the channel, it appeared back in January 2022.

Also, the Telegram channel Shot reported about the fraudulent scheme. According to him, the price for the goods was reduced several times to promote it in search and ratings. According to Baza, a Wildberries employee could have been involved in the hack, who set up "internal systems so that the services provided by the company passed according to the" zero coefficient, "he himself received thanks to the" large amounts "scheme. The company denied the information about the hack.

At the end of April 2023, Wildberries revealed a scam in which the owners of two partner points of issue of orders (PVZ) in Moscow replaced gold products with cheap jewelry when returning goods to the warehouse. The damage exceeded several million rubles.[9]

Increased control over the circulation of jewelry

Wildberries is strengthening control over the turnover of jewelry on the site. The company announced this on March 28, 2023.

The online platform introduces additional measures to protect Russians from low-quality or non-original products. Wildberries ceases to accept jewelry without confirming documents for them in the State Integrated Information System of Precious Metals and Precious Stones (GIIS DMDK). This rule is entered in all warehouses in your company.

File:Aquote1.png
Wildberries advocates transparent and secure shopping in the online segment. We cooperate in this direction with, Federal Accreditation Service, and Roskachestvo Rospotrebnadzor other organizations to offer Russians high-quality and proven goods at affordable prices. Jewelry is our next big project, - said the press service of Wildberries.
File:Aquote2.png

The company is strengthening control over the quality of products on the site and the protection of entrepreneurs from violations of their copyright by other market participants: the Wildberries Digital Arbitration service has been launched, integration with the Roskachestvo and Rosaccreditation registers has been carried out, as well as state registration certificates for dietary supplements from the EAEC for additional verification of goods on the site. Together with other marketplaces, a single information system "Anti-Counterfeit" was created.

In addition, since February 7, the online platform has completely banned the sale of vapes, concomitant liquids and smoking mixtures, even nicotine-free ones. The company said that they consider this product to be potentially dangerous for customers, especially for the younger generation, as it promotes smoking, which ultimately leads to the consumption of nicotine vapes. Often unscrupulous sellers used this "loophole" to sell nicotine products, which is prohibited by the rules of the marketplace.

Revealed a scheme for cashing money by legal entities through Wildberries

In early March 2023, it became known about the alleged scheme of cashing money by legal entities through Wildberries. Its essence is that the client orders expensive goods, but refuses to receive them, after which the money is returned to the internal account of the marketplace, and not to the card with which the purchase was made. Then the funds can allegedly be withdrawn anywhere. It is argued that in this way credit cards are cashed out, and money is also debited from the accounts of legal entities in order to avoid taxes.

According to the Telegram channel Baza, such a scheme leaves the points of issue themselves extreme. If the customer refuses the goods as defective, 20 percent of the order value is written off from them. At the same time, they cannot check the condition of goods, since they have no right to open the contents of parcels.

Discovered a scheme to cash out money through Wildberries by legal entities

Profile experts explained that customers for such purposes choose expensive branded things, for example, fur coats or smartphones worth about 100 thousand rubles or more. Moreover, the scheme often includes payment from the accounts of legal entities, and in fact the money is returned to the account of an individual. At the same time, Wildberries itself denies the existence of such a scheme.

File:Aquote1.png
We do not work with legal entities, they cannot make purchases through Wildberries, and even more so 'evade taxes'. For a large amount of returns, the user pays for return delivery, so "cashing out" credit cards cannot be beneficial for them, "the company explained to RBC, stressing that marketplace IT systems quickly detect fraudulent activity and block suspicious mass purchases.
File:Aquote2.png

Also in Wildberries indicated that when refusing the goods upon receipt, the owners do not pay the charges for marriage. Representatives of the marketplace say that all users are aware that the procedure for returning goods for marriage is different: through a mobile application and only when confirming the marriage by the seller.[10]

Employees massively complain about reduced payments

At the end of February 2023, it became known about a decrease in payments to Wildberries employees after the online retailer changed the working conditions for points of issue of orders (PVZ) and couriers. Interviewed by Forbes, PVZ workers in Moscow and the Moscow region, the Republic of Crimea, the Kirov region and the Trans-Baikal Territory said that the innovations reduced their monthly income by about a third.

According to Wildberries employees, since February 13, 2023, the marketplace has significantly reduced the amount of subsidies for the economic needs of points of issue and reduced tariffs for operations in PVZ, which partly account for employee income. And since February 18, according to employees, payments to couriers have also decreased.

The percentage of revenue for employees has decreased significantly

According to all the interlocutors of the magazine from among the surveyed employees of PVZ, the key indicator is the percentage of revenue, it is on it that the employees will earn the most. Previously, this value was 0.0071, but the new calculation will be based on the 0.0059 indicator.

File:Aquote1.png
We were told it was such a new motivation. Visually, the difference is small, but the employee's monthly earnings will be significantly affected, we eventually lose about 30% of the amount, - adds the Forbes interlocutor in the PVZ of the Kirov region.
File:Aquote2.png

PVZ employees in Moscow and the Moscow region began to earn 20-30% less. Here is what one of the Wildberries workers in the region told the publication:

File:Aquote1.png
At the same time, if on my PVZ until February 13 there were household needs accruals in the amount of 400 to 800 rubles a day, today there are no more than 120 rubles a day. But the requirements for all consumables remained. Lowering tariffs for operations is still minus about 30% of monthly income.
File:Aquote2.png

An employee of the PVZ in Crimea said that earlier for 15 shifts a month with a 13-hour working day, he earned about 30,000 rubles, and from February 2023 this amount will decrease by 8,000-9,000 rubles.[11]

New scheme of deceiving sellers - swindlers are presented by analysts

At the end of January 2023, it became known about a new fraud scheme faced by entrepreneurs selling goods on Wildberries. The essence of the scam is that the attackers appear to be analysts and promise an increase in sales, thus gaining access to a personal account and buying the goods at a minimum price. As a result, sellers lose both money and goods.

File:Aquote1.png
We note an increase in the number of seller requests due to fraud with their personal accounts. All victims transmitted data from their personal accounts to third-party services, the Wildberries press service told Izvestia.
File:Aquote2.png

Sellers on Wildberries face new cheating scheme

The services of analysts are in great demand by firms that trade on marketplaces. They collect information about how effectively certain goods are sold, build a sales strategy, and find the most profitable niches. As a result, they help entrepreneurs increase profits. Criminals play on the popularity of this service.

File:Aquote1.png
Scammers came out on my own when I was optimizing the cards of my goods. A girl named Alyona offered her services in analytics, showed a resume and a diploma. In addition, she spoke about her previous places of work, - the seller Ilya Zarozenko told the newspaper.
File:Aquote2.png

To make sure that the specialist was competent, the entrepreneur entrusted her with the test optimization of the product card, and for this he gave access to his personal account.

File:Aquote1.png
And then I saw that 250 jackets were bought out at a price of 100 rubles apiece. It's good that the entire assortment - 500 pieces - fraudsters could not take, - added the seller.
File:Aquote2.png

He tried to return the goods through the technical support of the marketplace, asking to cancel the order or not issue it, but he was refused, citing the lack of such an opportunity.[12]

Fighting fake "discounts"

Wildberries artificial intelligence will fight fake "discounts." The company announced this on October 13, 2022.

File:Aquote1.png

Reduce logistics tariffs by up to 1.5 times

Wildberries on October 10, 2022 proposed updated conditions for the marketplace model.

The company reduced tariffs for logistics to 1.5 times, and also released a major software update that will allow entrepreneurs to significantly increase their own turnover on the site and improve the service for buyers

Thanks to the updated functionality, entrepreneurs selling products from their own warehouses at Wildberries were able to create several supplies of goods at once, which will allow them to increase their own turnover on the site and, as a result, increase their sales. In addition, when managing supplies through a remote portal for sellers, it became possible to transfer goods between different deliveries and track the status of fulfillment of each of them, which will reduce the time of assembly of orders, speed up their delivery and improve the service for buyers.

The functionality has already become available in test mode for more than 25 thousand entrepreneurs, and in the near future it will work for all sellers.

In accordance with the updated tariffs, the basic cost of logistics for goods up to 5 liters will be 55 rubles. per unit of goods, and if the basic volume of additional payment for 1 additional liter is exceeded, it will be 5.5 rubles. Reducing tariffs will reduce the costs of entrepreneurs for the transportation of goods and redirect funds to the development of the product for buyers.

Thus, the total amount of income in the first month of operation of the point of issue will be up to 7.3% of the turnover. From the fourth month, PVZ owners will receive standard income in the amount of 2 to 4% of turnover.

The amount of remuneration depends on the location of the object: on the interactive Wildberries map, "green zones" with an increased tariff are marked, in other areas there is a standard tariff.

File:Aquote1.png
The subsidy program will make it possible to quickly recoup the investments of entrepreneurs in the opening of the point of issue, as well as provide residents of remote regions of our country with points of issue within walking distance. The most promising locations are Kamchatka (Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Elizovo and Vilyuchinsk), Chukotka (Anadyr, Bilibino), Magadan Region, as well as the Moscow Region and St. Petersburg, where the number of online purchases is actively growing, the Wildberries press service noted.

We are strengthening the logistics infrastructure: we launched a distribution center in Armenia, thanks to which direct sales became available to entrepreneurs of the country, expanded the logistics center in Kazakhstan 2.5 times to 10,000 square meters. m. This entailed an even more active transition of representatives of local business to e-commerce, - said the press service of Wildberries.

The active transition of entrepreneurs from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan was the result of a dynamic growth in demand for production products from the EAEU countries: its sales to Wildberries increased by 96% year-on-year to 18.5 billion rubles. for the 1 half of 2022

Changing the name of the site to "Berries" when saving the domain wildberries.ru

On August 15, 2022, the Wildberries online marketplace changed its name to Yagodki. Now on the main page of the site there is a new name, while the link leading to it remains the same. At the same time, instead of abstract pink and purple circles, images of real berries appeared - blackberries, blueberries, raspberries and strawberries. The press service of the company by August 15, 2022 does not comment on the rebranding.

Earlier in 2022, the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov said that there is a dominance of foreign names in Russian retail and industry. He explained that this also applies to Wildberries, since the marketplace is not called Wild Berries. In turn, business representatives then explained that foreign names are already on the hearing of buyers, as well as their use contributes to sales growth.

Wildberries changed the name of the site to "Berries"

In early June 2022, the founder and main owner of Wildberries Tatyana Bakalchuk announced an early name change, but did not specify what the new option would be. The entrepreneur only noted that the new name can be in Russian.

File:Aquote1.png
I can't promise that we will rebrand. Let's think, - said Bakalchuk.
File:Aquote2.png

According to Kommersant, against the background of the start of a Russian military special operation in Ukraine, the departure of Western brands from Russia and the rebranding of international companies remaining on the Russian market, a tendency to "Russification" of corporate symbols is recorded. In June 2022, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin announced a bill banning advertising signs in a foreign language. The initiative was opposed by many entrepreneurs, according to whom the transition to Russian-language signs could result in multimillion-dollar costs for Russian business.[13]

According to the marketplace, the assortment of Russian-made goods in April 2022 on the platform increased by 34% compared to the same period in 2021.

In June 2022, the CEO and founder of Wildberries, Tatyana Bakalchuk, said that the company would "think" about rebranding and translating the name into Russian. Receipt of funds is available after the return of goods at the points of issue, which are reflected on the user's personal balance in his personal account. File:Aquote1.png
We are testing this service, which will significantly increase the convenience of using the online platform: users will be able to receive instant transfers to the balance sheet, which will allow them not to "freeze" funds until they are actually received from the bank, but immediately spend on new purchases. In addition, we have opened the possibility for users to independently transfer returns from the balance to any bank accounts, and not just those from which payment was made,
told in the press service of Wildberries.
File:Aquote2.png

At the beginning of June 2022, testing is carried out on a limited sample of users, in the future the company plans to expand it.

Start auto parts and auto goods search service

Wildberries has implemented for buyers a service for searching for spare parts via VIN/FRAME, models of cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles - this will allow attracting sellers of a specialized assortment to the online platform and significantly expand it, including through the sale of parallel imports. The company announced this on May 30, 2022. In the future online platform , it will also add to the catalog spare parts for cargo and commercial. transport

Along with the launch of this service, the range of auto goods itself was significantly increased by 1 million SKU - and there are already over 2.2 million of them. The company plans to expand it 2 times more in 2022.

File:Aquote1.png

Thanks to the emergence of an assortment of spare parts, as well as a convenient product search service, buyers will be able to quickly and easily order the necessary parts for cars and motorcycles, and entrepreneurs will be able to expand their offer on the marketplace and increase sales in the e-commerce segment.

Refutation of the introduction of "mass fines" for refusal of goods

Wildberries on May 24, 2022 denied the introduction of "massive fines" for refusing goods.

The company did not introduce any penalties for buyers. Wildberries applies payment for the return delivery service only for customers with a high share of returns and/or a low amount of repurchase - claims that this "massive fine" is inaccurate information. This tariff affects only about 10% of customers. At the same time, the payment for the delivery service may change downward depending on the region.

The claims that Wildberries charges for returning defective items are not true. As before, buyers can return them if there is a production defect at no additional cost.

It is also unreliable that a warning about the payment of reverse logistics appears after the formation of the order: all the necessary information is communicated to the buyer in advance and before the purchase is made.

In addition, payment for the return service of unclaimed goods is also charged for new personal accounts - this allows you to reduce the risks of unfair competition from other market participants: for example, to exclude the creation of fake accounts from which large consignments of goods are ordered, but not redeemed, which leads to losses entrepreneurs.

The goal of the company is to motivate buyers to more consciously order goods on the marketplace, which allows them to receive things with a minimum number of fittings, improves their appearance, reduces the amount of scrap due to a large number of fittings, and reduces the volume of transportation packaging that pollutes the environment.

For its part, Wildberries continues to reduce its commission on goods, which makes them even cheaper and more affordable for buyers, retains free delivery and expands the share of post-paid sales.

Launch of direct sales from entrepreneurs of Armenia

On May 16, 2022, Wildberries announced the opening of the company's first logistics center in Armenia: this made it possible to launch direct sales of goods from local business representatives on the online platform.

The Wildberries logistics center in the country was launched in Yerevan, thanks to which Armenian business representatives got the opportunity to sell their goods on the online platform using the Marketplace model (from their own sellers' warehouses). In real time, entrepreneurs receive information about orders and deliver goods to the sorting center, from where they are sent to customers. In addition, orders entering the country are also sorted in the logistics facility.

At the first stage, work on the Marketplace sales model for Armenian entrepreneurs is available only domestically, but in the future the geography will be expanded to other countries, including Russia.

For entrepreneurs of the Republic, there is now a simplified registration procedure on the seller.wildberries.ru portal: to start sales, it is enough to go through a short registration and post information about goods.

File:Aquote1.png
We continue to develop our partnership and friendship with Armenia: in 2018 our online store was launched here, in 2021 we launched a franchise to open points of issue together with local business, and now we are taking the next important step - we are opening a sorting center and launching direct sales from entrepreneurs of the country. We are confident that this will bring our partnership to a new level, support local business and increase its representation in the online segment, the Wildberries press service commented.

On August 20, 2021, the Russian online retailer Wildberries issued a statement in which it announced the pressure of foreign payment systems on Russian banks that had begun due to the company's decision to provide discounts when paying with MIR cards, the Fast Payments System and through SberPay and the publication of foreign system commissions.

File:Aquote1.png
We became aware of the receipt of official letters from foreign payment systems to the Russian banks with threats of penalties. sanctions We consider these incidents as attempts to put pressure on domestic financial organizations, restrictions on their independent work, - emphasized in Wildberries.
File:Aquote2.png

File:Aquote1.png
We also consider such intimidation to be a manifestation of unfair competition from foreign payment systems and an attempt to take advantage of our dominant position in the Russian market, the online retailer noted.
File:Aquote2.png

Wildberries recalled that these manipulations are illegal, since the recipients of such letters did not violate either Russian legislation or the international rules of the payment systems themselves - and advised their compilers to re-read them carefully again.

File:Aquote1.png
Let us emphasize that we did not introduce any additional commissions, since tariffs are formed by payment systems, and not by us. On August 16, 2021, we at Wildberries reduced prices for goods, taking into account the tariffs of payment systems, and invited the Russians to choose for themselves which payment system is more convenient and profitable for them to use. Now our buyers see how the price of the goods adds up, and what discounts they can receive by paying them using various payment systems, - said the press service of Wildberries.
File:Aquote2.png

The company regrets that despite the fact that foreign payment systems previously expressed their readiness for negotiations, which was also supported by Wildberries, but preferred the language of threats and ultimatums.

The online retailer also said that in foreign countries such commissions are significantly lower, which is an obvious fact of discrimination against Russian businesses, in particular, small and medium-sized businesses, which suffer most from inflated tariffs.

File:Aquote1.png
The idea among experts has repeatedly sounded that Western payment systems, in fact, have established a "tax" for Russians - since their similar tariffs in Europe, the United States and Asia are several times lower than domestic ones. At a minimum, buyers have the right to know about the size of this "scrap" and that they really have a choice not to pay it, concluded in Wildberries.

Introduction of discounts when paying for orders using SberPay, "Mir," SBP

On August 17, 2021, Wildberries announced the introduction of discounts when paying orders using Russian payment systems. The retailer estimates the savings of Russians from the innovation at tens of millions of rubles a day.

From August 16, 2021, prices for goods placed in the Wildberries marketplace have become lower if you pay for a purchase with a Mir card or through the Fast Payment System (FPS) and SberPay, compared with payment using Visa, Mastercard, etc.

Wildberries introduced discounts when paying for orders using SberPay, Mir, SBP

Now, when ordering Wildberries, the buyer is informed how much he will have to pay in rubles when paying with foreign payment systems, and is invited to choose payment without commission using the Russian service.

It is noted that the difference in the cost of goods is achieved due to significantly lower commissions when processing transactions by domestic payment systems, while commissions of international payment systems reach 2%.

The Wildberries press service noted that thanks to the emergence of new functionality, the formation of the price of goods has become even more transparent for buyers: it takes into account not only existing promotions and personal discounts under the loyalty program, but also commissions of payment systems. Users now see how the price of an item adds up and how they can save extra on purchases.

According to Wildberries' own data, by mid-August 2021, about 2.3 million orders are issued at the site every day, about the same number of transactions are made by Russians when paying orders in the amount of about 2 billion rubles. Thus, thanks to the new option, Russians can save about 40 million rubles daily, which corresponds to the commissions of Western payment systems, the online retailer explained.

More than 260,000 Russian entrepreneurs and companies sell their goods through the trading platform, most of which, according to Wildberries, belong to small and medium-sized businesses.

As of July 2019, over 60 suppliers from the Nizhny Novgorod region have successfully collaborated with the Wildberries online store.

2017

1.5 million goods, daily site traffic 2 million people, 15 thousand employees

More than 1.5 million products from 10.5 thousand brands are available on the company's website. The daily attendance of the site is about 2 million people. The average number of orders is 120-150 thousand per day. The company has about 1 thousand points of issue of goods.

The retailer's staff is about 15 thousand people, the fleet is 150 cars. Revenue in 2017 - 69.1 billion rubles. (an increase of 35% compared to 2016). Net profit for 2016 - 318 million rubles.

Courts with suppliers and the launch of a PR campaign about Bakalchuk's success story

In 2017, Wildberries had a conflict with suppliers. In less than a year, the company received more than two dozen lawsuits from partners.

The owner of the Prime Jeans brand was desperate to receive 6 million rubles of debt - and filed a bankruptcy lawsuit against Wildberries. United Fashion Group (UFG) demanded the return of 31 million rubles for the delivered goods. According to a UFG representative, Wildberries demanded an 80 million rubles trade premium for promoting the goods, then asked to introduce discounts, and after the refusal threatened to return the seasonal goods for a comparable amount.

The Department stated that Wildberries wanted to issue a return for all unsold goods worth about 5-7 million rubles, and after the refusal they put forward an ultimatum: either the supplier receives money for the sold goods and takes the balances - or does not receive anything and takes all the goods.

Wildberries managed to win such courts. On a business scale (Wildberries turnover in 2017 amounted to almost 47.5 billion rubles, profit - 1.5 billion), the amount of claims was generally insignificant. But due to the closure of the company in the market, rumors of financial problems spread.

Managers complained to Tatyana Bakalchuk and her husband about difficulties in negotiations with suppliers, recalls a former Wildberries employee. The company wanted to work with expensive brands, and they first asked: "Don't you go bankrupt?"

Then the Bakalchuk first decided to hire professional PR specialists, several interlocutors in this market told The Bell in 2020. [23]. The search was entrusted to Yegor Pchelintsev, one of the oldest employees of Wildberries. He is now the director of advertising and PR. Pchelintsev chose the small PR agency "Lamp."

A former Wildberries employee recalls that the partnership with PR people turned out to be difficult: it was not possible to pull out information reports, the company's employees ignored the questions of external PR people in their work correspondence. But they did not despair. Having put on stream the production of press releases about quarterly indicators and the launch of new product categories, they began to persuade Tatyana Bakalchuk to become the heroine of a large material in one of the leading business publications. A few months later, she agreed.

PR consultants decided that it was most profitable to position the company through the story of self-made woman, a former English teacher who launched a business shortly after the birth of her child.

The material was published in Forbes magazine. He largely repeated the article in the same edition, published in 2012. But since no one has told about Wildberries in detail since then, the publication worked exactly as it was intended. Suppliers became more loyal, seeing in Bakalchuk "businesswoman from the plow," there was no end to journalists. Gradually, Tatyana got involved, began to participate in social life.

2014: Refusal of self-procurement of goods and transition to a commission model

During the 2014 crisis, Wildberries management made another important decision that rebuilt it from competitors: the company refused to independently purchase goods. Most of the assortment is added to the site by the suppliers themselves, they also answer customer questions. It works according to such a model. As a Amazon result, large suppliers have employees who only manage the company's catalog on Wildberries.

The Bell interlocutor calls this model "commission." Most marketplaces are moving in this direction. The commission agreement assumes that the supplier is registered on the marketplace, decides for himself what goods and in what volume to start, at what price, at the stock or without it, and remains the owner of these goods, and after their sale, about once a month, receives payments minus the marketplace commission.

The classic e-commerce worked according to a different model: the marketplace bought the goods, choosing for itself what and at what price to purchase, as well as at what price to sell. So worked in Wildberries until the beginning of the 2010s, and the selection of goods was such that in social networks the marketplace received the nickname "online Cherkizon."

If the goods are stored in the seller's warehouse, marketplaces take a commission a few percent lower, in the marketplace's own warehouse - higher. But Wildberries until recently forbade trading from its warehouse. Marketplace commission averages 19%, suppliers say.

But there is one important nuance that many suppliers do not like: the prices are set not by them, but by Wildberries. "According to Russian law, the transfer of goods takes place on invoices. They include the so-called liability price, which roughly corresponds to the wholesale price. On average, the market is 40-50% of the recommended retail price (RRC), which the FAS does not like very much, - says the interlocutor of The Bell. - As a rule, all sites adhere to the RRC. Discounts and promotions are agreed with suppliers. Wildberries is an exception. They say: do not want - we remove your product from the site. And it's a double-edged sword. On the one hand, Wildberries is a powerful machine that can sell as much product as you like. On the other hand, if you only work with Wildberries, you can easily ruin the rest of the market for yourself and even go into the red. "

2009: Purchase of a large batch of Adidas clothing and start of partnership with Sergey Anufriev

In the Dynamite shopping center, Vladislav Bakalchuk could get acquainted with future business partner Sergei Anufriev, at that time - an employee of the Universal Gym fitness club located in this shopping center. It was founded by popular stripper and bodybuilder Sergey Glushko (Tarzan). He told The Bell that he remembers Anufriev, but did not communicate closely with him.

Several interlocutors of The Bell (in particular, an acquaintance of Alexei Fadeev and a former employee of Wildberries) say that Anufriev offered new acquaintances to buy a large batch of Adidas things, which several wholesale buyers had previously abandoned. Why exactly they refused, they do not know.

The Bell interlocutor, who ran one of the largest online clothing stores in the mid-2010s, says that a large share of goods in his business then, like Wildberries, were the so-called "liquidation purchases." For example, a brand has accumulated large product balances. Or he has a party that, for some reason, does not want to put in ordinary retail. Pioneers of the Russian e-commerce specially traveled to Europe for such sales. In addition, gray imports were common in those years - in 2005 the Central Bank estimated its share at more than 20%, then there was a drop to 8%, but after the 2008 crisis it grew again.

Wildberries Development Director Vyacheslav Ivashchenko did not answer The Bell's question about how Bakalchuki and Anufriev became partners, confirming only that "Adidas was one of the first companies with which they began to cooperate as a supplier of goods." Adidas did not respond to The Bell's request. Things were set at a discount of 45-50% to prices in brand stores, recall the interlocutors of The Bell, who watched Wildberries at that time.

The Bell interlocutors say that the fateful party cost from $1 to $5 million. Whether Anufriev invested his money is unknown. It was not possible to establish whether he was engaged in business before Wildberries, and he himself refused to communicate after much thought.

One way or another, a few years later, the media already represented Anufriev as a co-owner of Wildberries. "Parity owns the company with the spouses Bakalchuk," wrote about him, for example, the RBC newspaper. "The founder and owner of the company is Tatyana Bakalchuk. The company did not work with the media, so we did not pay much attention to positions in the press, "Ivashchenko commented on this circumstance. - Having joined the company, Sergey [Anufriev] actively developed and develops important areas of our business: logistics, delivery service. "

Several interlocutors of The Bell say that Anufriev also built the Wildberries security service, and also participated in problematic negotiations with partners. In 2020, he is a co-founder of the courier firms Parsena, Kronstadt, Vallar and the subsidiary of Wildberries WB Technologies working with Wildberries. Through Wildberries, Inferno clothing is sold by the owner of the eponymous gym Ivan Vodyanov, who runs a YouTube channel with Anufriev. "Anufriev is a bodybuilder and sees his self-realization in this," a former Wildberries employee told The Bell.

For about a year, Adidas items formed the basis of the assortment, then products from brands such as Esprit, S.Oliver, Tommy Hilfiger, LTB, Nike, Puma, Levi's, Mustang, Mexx, Geox and others were added to them. But in 2009-2010, Wildberries remained an ordinary online store, a team solyanka, follows from the consumer reviews of that period. Some buyers complained that in reality things do not look like in the photo, noted delays in delivery, and praised Wildberries for a good call center.

Bakalchuka's first profit was rented an office in the village of Milkovo, Moscow Region, where the company's legal address is still registered. This makes her a regional taxpayer. "Move" to Moscow and in 2020 the company is not going to.

In 2010, without Anufriev's participation in Wildberries, not a single financial issue was resolved, a former employee of the company recalls in a conversation with The Bell: "Tatiana [Bakalchuk] was engaged in fluid flow, she did not even have a separate office. If she objected to Anufriev, he could answer: 'I said: we are doing this'. And no one argued anymore. He could indicate which suppliers to take, how to conduct marketing, anything. He established, on the advice of acquaintances from the police, a polygraph, ordered to drive all employees through it... " This interlocutor of The Bell asked for anonymity, explaining that Anufriev was previously very dissatisfied with learning that after his dismissal, someone discussed working at Wildberries with colleagues in the workshop.

Tatyana Bakalchuk recalls this period as follows: "We felt that people began to consider online trading as a real alternative to going to the store, but it was necessary to achieve 100% fulfillment of orders, and working with catalogs did not give such a guarantee. We started looking, turned to distributors of well-known European brands, which at that time were sold in Russia. "

Neither Bakalchukov nor Anufriev at that time had a clear idea of how to develop a business, a former employee shares his observations. One of the ideas that were never fully implemented was the launch of its own trademark.

In the early years, the company faced many typical problems for this business - most of the goods were purchased from suppliers without a minimum delay in payment, and Russian Post systematically lost, delayed or delivered damaged parcels, buyers complained about marriage and counterfeiting.

2004: Tatiana and Vladislav Bakalchuki sell clothes and launch the Wildberries website

Since 2004, together with spouses Tatyana Bakalchuk and Vladislav Bakalchuk, they launched the Wildberries online store.

It is believed that in the first few years Tatyana Bakalchuk's business consisted of reselling clothes and shoes from German catalogs. In the early 2000s, this was really a very popular activity. Against the background of numerous competitors, the novice entrepreneur, according to her memoirs, stood out by the fact that:

  • established a single mark-up for buyers from all over the country: 10% (other agents took 15% from Muscovites and up to 30% from residents of other regions);
  • did not ask for an advance payment.

This turned out to be enough for "Wildberries to expand, develop faster and faster." Bakalchuk had the first subordinates: "I called my younger sister, then - the employee of [husband] Vlad. But there were more and more orders, we could not cope and threw a cry at friends and relatives. My dad has already issued a pension, but returned to work when we registered an LLC. Aunt became an accountant. Almost all relatives came to the rescue. "

Tatiana Bakalchuk's sister Marina Andreyeva (Kim) worked at Wildberries. She oversaw the launch of her own brand, a former employee of the company told The Bell.

In social networks, Andreeva also points out a relative - Albina Tsoi. She is the sister of Yuri Tsoi, the nephew of Rosneft vice president Sergei Tsoi, who in the past headed the press service of Yuri Luzhkov.

Tsoi's wife Anna Kim, known under the creative pseudonym Anita Tsoi, is called by journalists "a family friend of the head of Rosneft Igor Sechin" (Wildberries said in 2020 that Sergei Tsoi and Anna Kim did not participate in the development of the company).

Yuri Tsoi's younger sister, Ekaterina, supported the Wildberries partner project, the Talent Land children's competition. The competition is held by ANO "LeaderPro," which received 150 million rubles from the Ministry of Labor in 2018-2020. This ANO is headed by another relative of Tatyana Bakalchuk - Nadezhda Vorontsova (Tsoi).

Also, a relative of Tatyana Bakalchuk Maxim Kim worked at Wildberries (kinship and work at Wildberries are noted on the Odnoklassniki network).

His wife Nadezhda Koreba (Kim) heads Vasilisa LLC, which produces clothes and textiles under the Wildberries trademarks. LLC owns the trademarks of Trikke and Crespino children's clothing, female - Too.U and Itara since 2018, as well as Colambetta since 2013. Vasilisa is the only legal entity from the Wildberries structure where the position of CEO is not occupied by the founders.

Another interlocutor of The Bell, who oversaw the formation of Wildberries, claims that Bakalchuki from the very beginning did not only deal with things from catalogs like Otto or Quelle. According to him, they sold clothes in second hand in the Dynamite shopping center in the Vykhino-Zhulebino area. It was positioned as a dot with 1,000 models of wearable clothing purchased in Europe. Some of the things were distributed through the site. In 2003, the address of the shopping center was indicated in the contacts of the D-Luxe catalog made by UT Design studio Bakalchuk and Fadeev. Wildberries claims that this store was not related to the company.
