2023: Yandex re-registered applications in the App Store and Google Play to Serbian legal entities

Yandex has re-registered its applications to Serbian legal entities. This became known on December 19, 2023.

According to Vedomosti, Micromobilnost Doo is indicated as an application developer in the App Store, and Micromobilnost LLC Belgrade is indicated in Google Play. Previously, the Swiss legal entity Intertech Services A (until 2022 - Yandex Services AG) was indicated as an application developer in stores. The main applications of the raidtech segment and the e-commerce segment are re-registered on Serbian providers - Yandex Drive, Yandex Eda, Yandex Go, Yandex Market.

The representative of Yandex, in a conversation with the publication, refused to clarify exactly when the change of provider occurred and what it was connected with. He said that "changes in different applications occurred gradually over the last half of the year." It follows from these application cards that the provider (loader) of services is Serbian legal entities, but the copyright belongs to the Russian Yandex LLC.

This is a standard technical procedure for optimizing our internal business processes. All Yandex services will continue to work as before - these changes will not affect them, the Yandex press service commented to the agency.

Lawyers interviewed by Vedomosti associate the company's decision with a desire to reduce risks in the event of sanctions against the Russian structure. Kira Vinokurova, partner of the Pen & Paper Bar Association, believes that nominal re-registration of applications to foreign companies is not in itself an effective tool for reducing sanctions risks. Yuri Fedyukin, managing partner of the law firm Enterprise Legal Solutions, recalled that sanctions were imposed on the founder of the company, Arkady Volozh, who owned a controlling stake in voting shares, which created the risks of the spread of sanctions on Yandex^[1]
