2023: Launch of development schools in Russia, Serbia and Kazakhstan

On February 27, 2023, Yandex announced the start of enrollment in its schools in Russia, Serbia and Kazakhstan. Lectures will be held online, then the practice will begin at the company's offices in Moscow, Belgrade and Almaty.

We are talking about four schools for students and novice specialists within the framework of the Yandex Academy:

  • an interface development school;
  • mobile development school (iOS, Android, Flutter);
  • school of backend development (Python, Java, C++, Go);
  • school of managers.

The first stage of selection of candidates will be held online

Courses are free, but you need to apply on the site until March 14, 2023, and then successfully complete the entrance tasks - they suggest that the student already has a little experience in the right direction. Applicants to backend development, for example, will be tested for knowledge of Python, Java/C#, Go and C++, and future managers will be asked to record a video interview in a limited time. Test tasks in development schools will be accepted until April 27, 2023.

The classes will be conducted by Yandex experts, the training is conducted in Russian. All nonresident students who successfully pass the online stage, Yandex will pay tickets and accommodation for the period of the second stage. The company promises that the best students will receive an offer to enter the Yandex staff or an invitation to an internship.

Yandex Academy has been holding summer schools since 2011. By the end of February 2023, according to the company's own data, 66 schools were organized and more than 2,800 students were trained - of which 1,076 became Yandex employees.

The project website says that the school program assumes that those wishing to undergo training have at least a small experience of working or performing projects in the direction of interest. The schedule of classes is designed so that they can be combined with work or study.[1]
