History

2020: Facebook purchased Kustomer for $1 billion

At the end of November, 2020 Facebook announced Kustomer purchase, but did not begin to set the price of the transaction. According to CNBC, The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg, acquisition of a startup cost the world's largest social network more than $1 billion.

Facebook reported that Kustomer will continue to do business in the normal mode until acquisition undergoes testing by regulating authorities. At the same time it is not clear whether regulators will object merger of Kustomer, Bloomberg notes.

According to the operating officer of WhatsApp Matt Idem (Matt Idema), competitors of Kustomer will still be able to offer corporate tools for communication via WhatsApp in spite of the fact that Facebook has own such solution.

One of sources of earnings of WhatsApp is connected with the fact that the messenger levies a payment from the large companies for sending messages to clients through the application instead of e-mail. Some CRM platforms, such as Kustomer, use WhatsApp to allow the enterprises to manage these interactions via the single interface. The vice president of Facebook for advertizing and business platforms Dan Levy noted that more than 175 million people daily communicate with the companies in WhatsApp.[1]
