2022: Bill Gates Foundation invested in Terabase Energy

On August 5, 2022, it became known that Terabase Energy, which offers software, solutions for automating and deploying solar farms, raised $44 million in a round of funding led by Breakthrough Energy VenturesBill Gates to commercialize its technology for automated construction of solar power plants.

In addition to Bill Gates' multibillion-dollar clean energy fund, the Series B funding initiative was jointly led by venture capital firm Prelude Ventures and supported by existing investor Terabase - SJF Ventures, among others.

Terabase will direct the funding it receives to expand its patented digital and robotic automation platform and achieve full commercial deployment in 2023. The solution, which the tech company says is the first of its kind, automates the design, construction and operation of large solar power plants. The platform manages the entire life cycle of the project from the moment the land is acquired to the construction of the station through a robotic workflow.

Terabase's solution has tremendous potential to reduce costs and accelerate the deployment of large-scale solar power plants, and we look forward to working with them in this direction, said Carmichael Roberts, co-chief investment committee officer at Breakthrough Energy Ventures.
