Merlion sued Svyaznoy 5 billion rubles due to debts for the supply of Apple and Xiaomi devices

In January 2023, the Moscow Arbitration Court partially satisfied Merlion's claim against Svyaznoy. VimpelCom sued 839 million rubles from Svyaznoy

Svyaznoy's problems with creditors began in 2014. Trellas, which combined the assets of Svyaznoy founder Maxim Nogotkov, owed the Onexim group Mikhail Prokhorov $120 million. The pledge was a controlling stake in Trellas.

And Globex Bank acquired from Trellas a 5% stake in Svyaznoy for 50 million euros with an obligation to buy this stake back at a premium of 11% per annum. Trellas also pledged another 5% stake in Svyaznoy to Globex.

At the end of 2014, Oleg Malis, brother of Euroset president Alexander Malis, bought the debt to Trellas from Onexim. Nogotkov first transferred control of Trellas to Malis' structures, but then tried to slow down this process and take advantage of the confusing scheme of relations between his creditors. In particular, NPF Welfare received a 15% stake in Svyaznoy pledged to it.

It was also planned to transfer 51% of Svyaznoy shares to Promsvyazbank, but Malis stopped this deal. Ultimately, Malis gained control of Trellas, and in the fall of 2015 he settled a debt to Promsvyazbank in the amount of 6.5 billion rubles.

MTS refused to buy Svyaznoy
