Representatives of the companies still frostily comment on an event and do not disclose transaction amount. Sources of Wall Street Journal claim that Softlayer will cost IBM $2 billion.

Practices of Softlayer which are based on the open standard of cloud computing OpenStack allow to increase the customer base quicker. At the same time applications will be better are protected from the intervention of the third parties thanks to software from IBM created within the IBM SmartCloud project.
At the end of May of IBM lifted the forecast for financial performance for the closest two years of year. By 2015 earning per share in the amount of $20 against $15.25 received in 2012 is predicted. In addition the company is going to spend $50 billion for share repurchase of stocks and $20 billion more for dividend payout in the next years that, undoubtedly, increased optimism of investors concerning IBM.
The SoftLayer company will be a part of new division of IBM on development of cloud services which will integrate developments of SoftLayer and the solution IBM SmartCloud. The new structure of the company will be headed by the CEO James Comfort. The division will specialize in providing full range of services and solutions both for clients of IBM, and for clients of SoftLayer and also independent software suppliers, trading and technology partners.
