Lattice Data — the developer of artificial intelligence technologies founded in 2015. The company which is based in Silicon Valley creates means of work with so-called "dark data" (Dark Data; the unstructured text, the image, etc.) which the companies generate, but are not used for various reasons. The Lattice Data technologies constructed using mechanisms of machine learning turn "dark data" into the structured information which the companies can use in business objectives. By May, 2017 Lattice Data attracted about 20 million dollars of investments.

2017: Apple buys Lattice Data

In May, 2017 it became known of Lattice Data sale to the American producer of consumer electronics of Apple.

That Apple became the owner of Lattice Data, reported the TechCrunch IT edition with reference to an informed source. Apple confirmed absorption, but did not begin to give informative comments, having limited to the standard statement:

Apple purchased Lattice Data company

According to TechCrunch, purchase of Lattice Data cost Apple approximately 200 million dollars. About 20 engineers of the sold company passed into Apple.

Apple can use the purchased technologies for development of Siri voice assistant. The edition writes that interest in Lattice Data was shown also by others technology, including Amazon and Samsung which are developed by own voice assistants similar to Siri.

The advantage of developments of Lattice Data can be very high, considering rapid growth of amounts of data. According to forecasts of IBM, by 2020 in the world there will be 44 Zbayt of data against 4.4 Zbayt in the 2013th. At the same time 90% of information made by May, 2017 are created for the previous two years.[1]
