2019: $1 billion mega-office construction
On November 20, 2019, Apple announced the start of construction of a new office. It will cover an area of almost 54 hectares and will be located in Austin (Texas, USA) next to the Mac Pro workstation plant .
Initially, the new campus, designed for 15 thousand employees, will employ about 5 thousand people. There will be located divisions leading research and development work in the interests of the company, as well as employees responsible for solving financial issues and ensuring sales and technical support of customers.
Previously, Apple was actively engaged in recruitment in Austin. By November 20, 2019, about 7,000 people work there, which is 50% more than in 2014. Approximately 500 employees are employed producing the Mac Pro.
The corporation intends to build an office complex in Austin by 2022. Apple has already received $41 million in tax breaks from the county and state. The company is going to 100% provide the facility with energy from renewable sources. Thousands of trees of 20 different varieties will be planted on campus.
The site will be designed to make the most of the green space. The landscaping will cover more than 60% of the campus, including a nature reserve that will be open to the public.
US President Donald Trump arrived at the ceremony to begin construction of the new campus and launch production of the new Mac Pro in Austin. He asked Apple CEO Tim Cook to consider the company's participation in work on 5G communication technology in the United States.
The expansion of operations in Austin is part of Apple's large-scale plan to invest $350 billion in the American economy from 2018 to 2023 and an additional hiring of 20,000 employees nationwide.[2]
2012: Texas Office
In March 2012, Apple announced plans to more than double the size of its working space in Austin (Texas, USA) in the next decade: the company will invest $304 million in the construction of a new campus.
The
new office will create about 3,600 additional jobs, predominantly hosting customer service, sales and financial accounting services, to support Apple's operations in the Americas.
Apple spokesman Steve Dowling told Reuters that the company's office in this city has grown seriously in recent years, from 1,000 employees in 2004 to 3,500 at the beginning of 2012.
Apple will also receive a tranche of $21 million for this project over a ten-year period from the Texas Enterprise Fund, which was established in 2003 to attract investors to the state. Texas Governor Rick Perry said such investments could make Texas a "national higth-tech hub."

In early June 2011, Apple Chief Executive Officer Steve Jobs revealed a project for a new office complex, which is planned to open to company employees in a few years. The project was submitted to the municipal authorities of the city of Cupertino in California, where Apple is currently headquartered.
Intent on expanding its headquarters, Apple, Jobs said, hired some of the best architects in the world. They developed a ring-like complex resembling a spacecraft. Some of the American bloggers immediately dubbed it iSpaceship, similar to the name of other Apple products. The construction of the new complex is planned to begin in 2012, and its doors will be opened in 2015.
