History

NTK is founded in 1992.

In 2007 the company won GSM licenses for the territory of the Ust-Orda, Koryak and Chukchi districts, however afterwards they were recalled.

2011

In March, 2011 the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) announced approval of the petition of VimpelCom (Russian "subsidiary" of Vimpelcom, works under a brand Beeline) on acquisition of 100% of stocks Vladivostok "New Telephone Company" (NTC)[1]. Vimpelcom said only that are interested in strengthening of presence in the regional markets.

NTK submitted the application for acquisition also MTS mobile operator, it is under consideration in antimonopoly department, and here already refused to MegaFon of FAS a possibility of transaction. In Tele2 are not interested in purchase of NTK, including this transaction not of attractive. Rostelecom does not comment on a question, but the source in the company reported to CNews that the petition for purchase of the Vladivostok operator did not move.

Vimpelcom in Primorsky Krai services only 1.3% of cellular subscribers. It is connected with the fact that, unlike MTS and MegaFon, Vimpelcom in the majority of regions of the Far East and Eastern Siberia has no GSM frequencies, and the company renders services only using 3G-networks. Vimpelcom conducts fight for the Far East five years, but still unsuccessfully.

Shareholders of NTK chose the best moment for sale, considers a source in one of regional mobile operators. "Now NTK is a market leader, however perspectives of this leadership are not clear, in particular, because of the forthcoming issue of the 5th GSM license in the region, - the interlocutor of CNews says. - Vimpelcom, having got approval on the transaction from FAS even before carrying out tenders, avoided danger to get under antimonopoly restrictions. And in case of a victory at tender the operator will receive in total the biggest frequency assembly in the region in the ranges of 900/1800/2100 MHz".

In June, 2011 VimpelCom acquired 90% of shares "New Telephone Company" (NTC), in February, 2012 – brought the share to 100% of stocks (before Korea Telecom - 80%, Sumitomo - 20%). Legal accession of NTK to VimpelCom took place in June, 2013.
