2022: KamAZ consolidated 100% of the joint venture with German ZF

KamAZ became the sole owner of ZF Kama LLC, a joint venture (JV) of the Russian automaker with the German company ZF Friedrichshafen AG. The latter owned 51% of the joint venture. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The fact that KamAZ bought out a stake in ZF Kama LLC from ZF Friedrichshafen AG was written by Kommersant on November 10, 2022, citing the press service of the Naberezhnochelninskaya company. Information about the change of owners appeared in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities.

By November 2022, ZF Kama produces 9- and 16-speed mechanical transmissions Ecomid (9S1310 TO) and Ecosplit (16S1820 TO), which can be used to complete power units with a capacity of 160 to 500 horsepower. In addition, she repairs gearboxes for KamAZ cars.

KamAZ consolidated 100% of the joint venture with German ZF for the production of gearboxes

As noted in KamAZ, despite the decision made by the partner, the Russian company continues to work, fully meeting its needs. That is, the Chelny plant continues to produce German gearboxes, but without the participation of ZF itself. And there are also other confirmations of this: as the Quto edition writes, in internal, certification and other documents, the units began to be named in the Kamaz manner.

Thus, the 9-speed manual transmission instead of the ZF 9S 1310TO became known as the ZF KAMA 1310TO. A similar story happened with diesel engines: an in-line 6-cylinder turbodiesel Cummins ISB6.7 E5250 from now on received the name KamAZ- 667.513-250. Moreover, the engine even retained imported components: the Cummins control unit, Bosch nozzles and the Holset turbocharger.

The general director of KamAZ Sergey Kogogin at the end of May 2022 said that all joint ventures of the company with foreign partners work, despite the current situation after the start of a military operation in Ukraine.[1]
