2020: Attraction of $160 million investments
At the beginning of December, 2020 the Swedish producer of the smart Voi Technology scooters completed a round of financing of series C and attracted $160 million for expansion of the company. Now Voi Technology is estimated by $1 billion.
The producer uses possibilities of artificial intelligence that "teach" to distinguish the electroscooters pedestrians and sidewalks. Techniques of computer vision allow scooters to distinguish surfaces in real time and also become a basis for more useful tools - for example, allow to control observance of traffic regulations and bases of security using additional applications. The company already works in dozens of the cities of Europe in partnership with local authorities.
Voi Technology reported that the attracted capital will be used for construction of new parking for electroscooters in Germany. The company also intends to continue work on model of the parking station which was for the first time experienced in the summer of 2020 in Stuttgart. Besides, in development there is a new model of the electroscooter under the name Voiager 4. In addition, in this model high-quality brakes, signaling of new type and stronger suspender will be added. Voi intends to adapt and develop further hardware and the software as clients should have an opportunity to use smart helmets, the improved lighting and functions of a geolocation.
The company received fixed assets in a new round of financing from the American investor of Raine Growth. Besides, investors who already made the investments in development of the company earlier took part in a round: VNV Global, Balderton, Creandum Project A and Nordic Ninja. Among new investors it is possible to note Stena Sessan shipping company, Amazon, Delivery Hero and Klarna.[1]
